Welcome

Welcome to my blog http://www.skegley.blogspot.com/ . CAVEAT LECTOR- Let the reader beware. This is a Christian Conservative blog. It is not meant to offend anyone. Please feel free to ignore this blog, but also feel free to browse and comment on my posts! You may also scroll down to respond to any post.

For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Senior moment in church ... Thanks Luis Flores!

Senior Moment in Church

A Preacher was explaining that he must move on to a larger congregationthat will pay him more.

There is a hush within the congregation.

No one wanted him to leave.

Joe Smith, who owns several car dealerships in the City stands up and

Proclaims, 'If the Preacher stays, I will provide him with a new Cadillac every year, and his wife with a Honda mini-van to transport their children!'

The congregation sighs in relief, and applauds.

Sam Brown, a successful entrepreneur and investor, stands and says, 'If

the Preacher will stay on here, I'll personally double his salary, and

also establish a foundation to guarantee the college education of all his

children!'

More sighs and loud applause.

Sadie Jones, age 88, stands and announces with a smile, 'If the Preacher

stays, .... I will give him sex!'

There is total silence.

The Preacher, blushing, asks her, 'Mrs. Jones, whatever possessed you to

say that?'

Sadie's 90 year old husband Jake is now trying to hide, holding his

forehead with the palm of his hand, and shaking his head from side to side,

while his wife replies, 'Well , I just asked my husband how we could help,

and he said,......'Screw him!'

Isn't senility wonderful?

Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.

Christmas eve ... Thanks good Denison friend!

The Teacher asked young Patrick Murphy: "What do you do at Christmas time?Patrick addressed the class: "Well Ms. Jones, me and my twelve brothers and sisters go to midnight mass and we sing hymns; then we come home very late and we put mince pies by the back door and hang up our stockings. Then all excited, we go to bed and wait for Father Christmas to come with all our toys.

"Very nice Patrick," she said. "Now Jimmy Brown, what do you do at Christmas?"Well, Ms. Jones, me and my sister also go to church with Mum and Dad and we sing carols and we get home ever so late. We put cakes and milk by the chimney and we hang up our stockings. We hardly sleep, waiting for Santa Claus to bring our presents.

Realizing there was a Jewish boy in the class and not wanting to leave him out of the discussion, she asked, "Now, Isaac Cohen, what do you do at Christmas?"Isaac said, "Well, it's the same thing every year...Dad comes home from the office. We all pile into the Rolls Royce; then we drive to Dad's toy factory. When we get inside, we look at all the empty shelves...and begin to sing: “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”. Then we all go to the Bahamas .

Very interesting, Clay! Re- Recent Rupp article

Very interesting Carol & Clay!

We took our neighbors, Bill & Jackie Vorlicky, to Lexington one summer . He is a good school adminstrator who dearly loves Ohio State. We pulled down a muddy side street between the construction of Rupp and the land east and I proudly announced: I want to show you guys some real southern hospitality. I rolled my window down just in time to meet a puddle splashed into my face. We all enjoyed a good, if embarrassing, laugh!

Thank you two and Mr. Jordan, from the 'cultural center of our universe'!

I love this prayer ... Thanks Clay!

I love this prayer – so I’m sending along. Couldn't we all use it?

QUICK PRAYER

Please do not break. Just 27 words -

"God, our Father, walk through my house and take away

All my worries and illnesses and please watch over and heal my

Family, Amen."

This prayer is so powerful. Pass this to 12 people

Including me. A blessing is coming to you in form of a new

Job, a house, marriage, finances, or maybe an answer to

Something (a prayer, a request) that you have been waiting

For. Do not break or ask questions. Stop what you are doing & send it to 12 people

Now. Watch what He does!

This is us ... Thanks Carol & Clay Vice!

THIS IS US!!!

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took

The melody out of music,

The pride out of appearance,

The courtesy out of driving,

The romance out of love,

The commitment out of marriage,

The responsibility out of parenthood,

The togetherness out of the family,

The learning out of education,

The service out of patriotism,

The Golden Rule from rulers,

The nativity scene out of cities,

The civility out of behavior,

The refinement out of language,

The dedication out of employment,

The prudence out of spending,

The ambition out of achievement or

God out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT the ones whoeliminated patience and tolerancefrom personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party..... Even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps..... With a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.

I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

Now if I could only remember who sent this to me, I wouldn't send it back to them, but I would send it to many more too!

I Pray you 'enough' - ... thanks good friend, Marge R!

ENOUGH:

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together

at the airport.. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security

gate, they hugged, and the mother said, 'I love you, and I pray you enough.'

The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough.

Your love is all I ever needed. I pray you enough, too, Mom.'

They kissed, and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window

where I was seated. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking,

'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'

Yes, I have,' I replied.

'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'

'Well...I'm not as young as I once was, she lives so far away & has her own

busy life. I have some challenges ahead, and the reality is - her next trip

back will be for my funeral,' she said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I pray you enough.'

May I ask what that means?'

She began to smile. 'That's a prayer that has been handed down from

other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' She paused

a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she

smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I pray you enough,' we wanted the

other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain

them.'

Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were

reciting it from memory.

"I pray you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how

gray the day may appear..

I pray you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I pray you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive

and everlasting.

I pray you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys

in life may appear bigger.

I pray you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I pray you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I pray you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

Then, she began to cry, and walked away.

They say, it takes a minute to find a special person,

an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but

an entire life to forget them.

* Only if you pray, send this to the people you will never forget,

and remember to send it back to the person who sent it to you.

If you don't send it to anyone, it may mean that you are in such

a hurry that you have forgotten your friends.

TAKE TIME TO LIVE....... To all my loved ones family & friends.... I PRAY YOU "ENOUGH" .......

Captain Ed Freeman Medal of honor winner ... Thanks Ellen

Subject: Darn Right I'll Pass This ON

You're a 19 year old kid.

You're critically wounded and dying in

the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Vietnam

It's November 14, 1965.

LZ (landing zone) X-ray in the Id Drang Valley.

Your unit is outnumbered 12-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100

yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac

helicopters to stop coming in.

2 You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know

you're not getting out.

Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll

never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a

helicopter.

You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because

no MedEvac markings are on it.

Captain Ed "Too Tall" Freeman is coming in for you.

He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and

decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.

Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load

3 of you at a time on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and

nurses and safety.

And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!

Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over

that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.

He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have

made it without the Captain and his Huey.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Army, died

last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , Idaho

May God Bless and Rest His Soul.

I'll bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure seen

a whole bunch about Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods, the bickering by

I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans ~

I'm talking about our troops!

Doesn't it seem strange that so many are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops?

Wouldn't it be great if we took the $360,000,000,000 (that's billion) we spend on illegals every year, and spend it on our troops!!!

Please pass this on; this is worth the short time it takes.

The Lord's Prayer ... thanks Nita Elliott!

What a special way to begin this Sunday after Thanksgiving, Nita!  Thanks good friend!  I often get lost in my reverie in my prayers to the Almighty.  Jesus taught us how to pray:

Subject: Fw: Our Lord's Prayer

OUR LORD 'S PRAYER

The moment you receive it, say:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil..

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory now and forever. Amen..

GOD WANTED ME TO TELL YOU ,

It shall be well with you this coming year..

No matter how much your enemies try this year, they will not succeed.

You have been destined to make it and you shall surely achieve all your goals this year...

For the remainder of 2011, all your agonies will be diverted and victory and prosperity will be incoming in abundance. Today, God has confirmed the end of your sufferings, sorrows and pain because HE that sits on the throne has remembered you. He has taken away the hardships and given you JOY. He will never let you down.

I knocked at heaven's door this morning, God asked me.. My child! What can I do for you? And I said,

'Father, please protect and bless the person reading this message..'

It has never been broken. Within 48 hours send as many as you can - God does know if you don't have 20 people to send it to. It's the effort and intent that counts. to family and friends.

This is a powerful Prayer. Couldn't hurt. Can only help..Please do not break it...

Adolph Rupp's Kentucky Basketball Title Run

By CLAY LATIMER, FOR INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Posted 11/09/2011 01:35 PM ET

Rupp took over the University of Kentucky team in 1930 and stayed 42 years with the Wildcats, whose new season starts Friday night. AP View Enlarged Image

Adolph Rupp was a high school basketball coach in 1930 when he sat down to interview for the University of Kentucky job.

Asked why he should get it over 70 other candidates, the 29-year-old Kansas native didn't miss a beat: "Because I'm the best damned coach in the nation."'

That claim turned out right.

In 42 years at Kentucky, Rupp won 879 games, four national championships and 27 Southeastern Conference titles. His Wildcats also set an NCAA record by winning 129 straight home games.

A master of motivation and strategy, he helped revolutionize the game with a fast-break attack that was decades ahead of his contemporaries, made the sport a near-religious mania in Kentucky, and helped transform college basketball into a national game.

There were troubles, too, especially in 1952, when his Wildcats were put on probation for a year. Rupp also was criticized for taking too long to integrate the team.

But before John Wooden, Dean Smith, Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski, there was Adolph Rupp, the Baron of the Bluegrass.

In Front

Rupp's Keys

Fourth (behind Bob Knight, Mike Krzyzewski and Dean Smith) in total victories by a men's NCAA Division I college coach, winning 876 games.

Ranks second among all coaches in all-time winning percentage (.822), trailing only Clair Bee.

C.M. Newton, a former Kentucky player and athletic director, as well as Alabama and Vanderbilt coach, told IBD: "When I think of the founders of modern basketball, I think of Adolph Rupp. He saw basketball on a whole different level. He was a pioneer in just about everything related to basketball. Alabama football is what I think of when I think of Kentucky basketball. And when I think about Bear Bryant, I think about Adolph Rupp."

Born of 19th-century immigrants in southeast Kansas, Rupp (1901-77) grew up on a farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse. He played at the University of Kansas for legendary coach Phog Allen, who had an office down the hall from basketball's inventor, James Naismith.

Rupp spent much of his time studying the techniques of those two mentors. Later he would create offensive styles and defensive sets that had never been used.

After graduating in 1923, Rupp coached high school basketball in Burr Oak, Kan., for a year before moving on to Freeport, Ill., where he won 80% of his games.

After Kentucky hired him, Rupp was an instant success.

The Wildcats had never scored more than 44 points in the 27 seasons before he arrived. They scored 67 in his debut.

The next morning, a newspaper account noted that a new brand of basketball had come to Blue Grass country. Rupp compiled a 20-5 record in his first two years, then won the SEC title in the league's first season, 1932-33.

"He was tough to play against. He beat the heck out of teams. He took no prisoners,'' said Hugh Coy, a member of the undefeated 1953-54 Kentucky team.

Within years of Rupp's landing, basketball took its place next to coal, horses and bourbon as cultural icons in Kentucky. On winter nights, citizens from Rabbit Hash to Bowling Green huddled around radios to listen to Wildcat games.

"You could see lights in homes all across the state as you flew over Kentucky,'' said Vernon Hatton, an All-American on the Wildcats' 1958 national championship team.

Peace And Triumph

After World War II, Rupp emerged as the nation's premier college coach. He won his first two national titles in 1948 and 1949 with the Alex Groza-led Fabulous Five, captured a third championship in 1951 and the fourth in 1958.

"It was like watching a symphony. He's the reason Kentucky basketball is what it is,'' Coy said.

After losing to Ohio State on Jan. 2, 1943, Rupp started a home-court winning streak that didn't end until a 59-58 loss to Georgia Tech 12 years later.

Afterward, Rupp told his depressed team: "From this time until history is no longer written, you will be remembered as the team that broke that string. Even if you go on to win the NCAA championship, you must carry this scar with you the rest of your lives."

The prospect of defeat haunted Rupp. He once expressed his intensity with two takes:

So nervous was he before games, he felt like he had lye in his stomach. When an opponent scored against the Cats, his heart bled.

"He's the most competitive man who ever coached,'' Hatton said. "One night Alabama scored 100 points against us. He told us if he'd been a player in that game, he would've tried to eat the ball before a team scored 100 against him.''

Rupp sometimes ordered the Wildcats back on the court after the crowd left in order to correct mistakes made in the game.

Serious Sweat

Practices were sacred to Rupp, who drilled his players without letup. The sessions started at 3:30 p.m. and ended at 5, and every drill followed a rigid schedule.

There was no talk, no laughter, no clowning, and Rupp got after any player who performed poorly.

Players repeated the same 10 offensive plays until they became an automatic part of their games.

His assistants charted every pass, every shot, every move. After one practice, Rupp reported that his team had handled the ball 3,308 times and made five mistakes.

Red Auerbach, the great Boston Celtics coach, once said he would rather watch Kentucky practice than see most teams play.

Said Coy: "He practiced for perfection."

Rupp did enjoy the fame. Photos of him with President Truman, Bob Hope and other celebrities lined his office walls. He walked onto the court after the last bar of the national anthem for dramatic effect.

"If anyone had a camera, he'd follow them around to make sure they took a picture of him," Hatton said.

When a point-shaving scandal hit college basketball in 1950, Rupp declared, "Gamblers couldn't get at our players with a 10-foot pole.'' But some of his players were implicated, and Kentucky was punished in the 1952-53 season, forced to sit out tournament play.

In the 1966 national title game, an all-black lineup from Texas Western beat the all-white Wildcats, a monumental game that left Rupp with an image as the face of segregated basketball.

His fans point out that he coached black players in high school, coached against college teams with black players, and recruited a black athlete the same year Bryant recruited his first at Alabama.

"Coach Rupp may have been a lot of different things — demanding, overbearing — but one thing I know he was not was a racist,'' Newton said. "He would have integrated the program at Kentucky had the rest of the conference been willing to go along. Mississippi State won a league championship and couldn't play against a team with black players. "Coach Rupp would've adjusted. One of the things about coach Rupp and coach Bryant was their ability to adjust to the modern athlete, the different standards, the different styles of play.''

In 1967, Rupp became college basketball's all-time winningest coach when Kentucky beat Notre Dame 81-73. His 772nd victory moved him past his former coach, Allen.

The Twilight

After retiring in 1972, Rupp became president of the Memphis Tams of the American Basketball Association and vice chairman of the board for the Kentucky Colonels, another ABA team.

He died at age 76 in Lexington on a December night in 1977 when Kentucky defeated his alma mater at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan. That game was promoted as Adolph Rupp Night.

"It took us five or so years for me to know how much we loved the guy,'' Hatton

The Stranger ... Thanks Patricia Whitehead!

The Stranger

A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our area. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.

As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger... He was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies.

If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind.

Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet.

(I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)

Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home - not from us, our friends or any visitors. After our long time visitor stayed longer he became more daring however, and even got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush. My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol but the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing..

I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked... And NEVER asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name?....

We just call him 'TV.'

Note: This should be required reading for every household!)

He has a wife now....we call her 'Computer.'

Their first child is "Cell Phone".

Second child "I Pod "

Thanksgiving to Our wondrous God!

We enjoyed great food and desserts at Beavercreek, Ohio with family yesterday.  What was started by the pilgrims in Plymouth Mathachussetts, continues on to His glory.  Besides just gathering with the family, it is also so wonderful to see the growth spurts of all of the grandchildren, if not in height, it is certainly in added character.  There is a LoT of integrity in these Kegley offspring into so many other surnames.  Thank you God and your son, Jesus!

I have another cause for celebration.  Anybody can go to Amazon.com, Kindle, and ebooks and search Sam Kegley.  There you should see this:

Most of my books are out of print except that I started writing mostly Studs Terkel immulations by seeking interviews of topics of my personal interest.  My first two books were published in 2002.  I have had purely tremendous people in each of my books and they have honestly revealed answers and referred stories of other interesting persons which make me so proud of each of them.

My next few weeks will be spent in getting many of these books into ebooks.  The ebook publishing, many by the self-published beings like myself, are now around 80 percent of all publishing.  It is revising all reading habits and makes future planning challenging for our great libraries.  I know the libraries will survive it all, particularly because my son, Jay, is a gifted member of the Columbus Metropolitan Library staff.

And, yes ... Thank you God!

Another piece of history ... Thanks Sonny Hoskins!

Another

piece of history.

September 9,

1942, the I-25 class Japanese submarine was cruising in an easterly direction

raising its periscope occasionally as it neared the United States Coastline.

Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor less than a year ago and the Captain of the

attack submarine knew that Americans were watching their coast line for ships

and aircraft that might attack our country. Dawn was approaching; the first rays

of the sun were flickering off the periscopes lens. Their mission; attack the

west coast with incendiary bombs in hopes of starting a devastating forest fire.

If this test run were successful, Japan had hopes of using their huge submarine

fleet to attack the eastern end of the Panama Canal to slow down shipping from

the Atlantic to the Pacific. The Japanese Navy had a large number of I-400

submarines under construction. Each capable of carrying three aircraft. Pilot

Chief Warrant Officer Nobuo Fujita and his crewman Petty Officer Shoji Okuda

were making last minute checks of their charts making sure they matched those of

the submarine's navigator.

The only plane ever to drop

a bomb on the United States during WWII was this submarine based

Glen.

September 9, 1942: Nebraska forestry student Keith V.

Johnson was on duty atop a forest fire lookout tower between Gold Beach and

Brookings Oregon. Keith had memorized the silhouettes of Japanese long distance

bombers and those of our own aircraft. He felt confident that he could spot and

identify, friend or foe, almost immediately. It was cold on the coast this

September morning, and quiet. The residents of the area were still in bed or

preparing to head for work. Lumber was a large part of the industry in

Brookings, just a few miles north of the California Oregon state

lines.

The aircraft carried two incendiary 168 pound bombs

and a crew of two.

Aboard the submarine the Captain's voice

boomed over the PA system, 'Prepare to surface, aircrew report to your stations,

wait for the open hatch signal'. During training runs several subs were lost

when hangar door were opened too soon and sea water rushed into the hangars and

sank the boat with all hands lost. You could hear the change of sound as the bow

of the I-25 broke from the depths, nosed over for its run on the surface. A loud

bell signaled the 'All Clear'. The crew assigned to the single engine Yokosuki

E14Ys float equipped observation and light attack aircraft sprang into action.

They rolled the plane out of its hangar built next to the conning tower. The

wings and tail were unfolded, and several 176 pound incendiary bombs were

attached to the hard points under the wings. This was a small two passenger

float plane with a nine cylinder 340 hp radial engine. It was full daylight when

the Captain ordered the aircraft to be placed on the catapult. Warrant Officer

Fujita started the engine, let it warm up, checked the magnetos and oil

pressure. There was a slight breeze blowing and the seas were calm. A perfect

day to attack the United States of America. When the gauges were in the green

the pilot signaled and the catapult launched the aircraft. After a short climb

to altitude the pilot turned on a heading for the Oregon coast.

The Glen was launched via catapult from a I-25

class Japanese submarine.

Johnson was sweeping the horizon but

could see nothing, he went back to his duties as a forestry agent which was

searching for any signs of a forest fire. The morning moved on. Every few

minutes he would scan low, medium and high but nothing caught his eye. The small

Japanese float plane had climbed to several thousand feet of altitude for better

visibility and to get above the coastal fog. The pilot had calculated land fall

in a few minutes and right on schedule he could see the breakers flashing white

as they hit theOregon shores. Johnson was about to put his binoculars down when

something flashed in the sun just above the fog bank. It was unusual because in

the past all air traffic had been flying up and down the coast, not aiming into

the coast. The pilot of the aircraft checked his course and alerted his observer

to be on the lookout for a fire tower which was on the edge of the wooded area

where they were supposed to drop their bombs. These airplanes carried very

little fuel and all flights were in and out without any loitering. The plane

reached the shore line and the pilot made a course correction 20 degrees to the

north. The huge trees were easy to spot and certainly easy to hit with the

bombs. The fog was very wispy by this time.

Warrant Officer

Fujita is shown with his Yokosuka E14Y (Glen) float plane prior to his

flight.

Johnson watched in awe as the small floatplane with a red

meat ball on the wings flew overhead, the plane was not a bomber and there was

no way that it could have flown across the Pacific, Johnson could not understand

what was happening. He locked onto the plane and followed it as it headed

inland. The pilot activated the release locks so that when he would pickle the

bombs, they would release. His instructions were simple, fly at 500 feet, drop

the bombs into the trees and circle once to see if they had started any fires

and then head back to the submarine. Johnson could see the two bombs under the

wing of the plane and knew that they would be dropped. He grabbed his

communications radio and called the Forest Fire Headquarters informing them of

what he was watching unfold. The bombs tumbled from the small seaplane and

impacted the forests, the pilot circled once and spotted fire around the impact

point. He executed an 180 degree turn and headed back to the submarine. There

was no air activity, the skies were clear. The small float plane lined up with

the surfaced submarine and landed gently on the ocean, then taxied to the sub. A

long boom swung out from the stern. His crewman caught the cable and hooked it

into the pickup attached to the roll over cage between the cockpits. The plane

was swung onto the deck, The plane's crew folded the wings and tail, pushed it

into its hangar and secured the water tight doors. The I-25 submerged and headed

back to Japan.

This event, which caused no damage, marked the only time

during World War II that an enemy plane had dropped bombs on the United States

mainland. What the Japanese didn't count on was coastal fog, mist and heavy

doses of rain made the forests so wet they simply would not catch

fire.

This Memorial Plaque is located in Brookings , Oregon at the

site of the 1942 bombing

Fifty years later the

Japanese pilot, who survived the war, would return to Oregon to help dedicate a

historical plaque at the exact spot where his two bombs had impacted. The

elderly pilot then donated his ceremonial sword as a gesture of peace and

closure of the bombing of Oregon in 1942.

Thomas Jefferson ... Thanks George Kegley, my brother!

-----Original Message-----

From: Fred Ramsey

Thomas Jefferson

This is amazing. There are two parts. Be sure to read the 2nd part.

Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.

At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor.

At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French.

At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages.

At 16, entered the College of William and Mary.

At 19, studied Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe.

At 23, started his own law practice.

At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.

At 31, wrote the widely circulated "Summary View of the Rights of British America” and retired from his law practice.

At 32, was a Delegate to the Second Continental Congress.

At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence.

At 33, took three years to revise Virginia’s legal code and wrote a Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom.

At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick Henry.

At 40, served in Congress for two years.

At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams.

At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.

At 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society.

At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of Republican Party.

At 57, was elected the third president of the United States .

At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation's size.

At 61, was elected to a second term as President.

At 65, retired to Monticello .

At 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine.

At 81, almost single-handedly created the University of Virginia and served as its first president.

At 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams

Second Part:

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: "This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe ." -- Thomas Jefferson

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

-- Thomas Jefferson

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."

-- Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." -- Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." -- Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- Thomas Jefferson

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -- Thomas Jefferson

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

-- Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

I wish we could get this out to everyone!!!

I'm doing my part. Please do yours.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Twas the night of Thanksgiving,

and I just couldn’t sleep

I tried counting backwards,

I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned,

the dark meat and the white

but I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation

the thought of a snack became infatuation.

So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door

and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,

pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling so plump and round,

till all of a sudden, I rose off of the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky

with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.

I managed to yell as I soared past the trees.....

Happy eating to all----pass the cranberries please.

May your stuffing be tasty,

may your turkey be plump,

may your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump.

May your yams be delicious,

may your pies take the prize,

may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs.

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Grandpa and Grandma ... Only the latter would know

Mary,

My sweet sister-in-law ... You side so much on the womanly side of things.  I guess I am still glad God chose, in his great wisdom, to make male and female and let it grow from there.

ONLY A GRANDMOTHER WOULD KNOW... ~A Cup of Tea ~ One day my Grandma was out, and my Grandpa was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys. Grandpa was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Grandma came home. My Grandpa made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Grandma waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Grandpa, and she watched him drink it up. Then she said, (as only a grandma would know), "'Did it ever occur to you That the only place she can reach to get water, is the toilet?" SEND IT ON AND MAKE ANOTHER GRANDPARENT SMILE ...

Boss: Sure, come on in. What can I do for you?

Employee: Well sir, as you know, I have been an employee of this

prestigious firm for over ten years.

Boss: Yes.

Employee: I won't beat around the bush. Sir, I would like a raise. I

currently have four companies after me and so I decided to talk to you

first.

Boss: A raise? I would love to give you a raise, but this is just not

the right time.

Employee: I understand your position, and I know that the current

economic down turn has had a negative impact on sales, but you must also take into

consideration my hard work, pro- activeness and loyalty to this company

for over a decade.

Boss: Taking into account these factors, and considering I don't want to

start a brain drain, I'm willing to offer you a ten percent raise and an

extra five days of vacation time. How does that sound?

Employee: Great! It's a deal! Thank you, sir!

This supposed pusa, o, is unconscionably irresponsible in his duties of Commander-in Chief.  He will allow the Defense to be gutted when there are trillions of dollars in frivolous programs along with wasted foreign aid dollars to countries who block the USA at every step of world politics.  The supposed 'Supercommittee' did exactly as he wished- NOTHING!  Now he boasts of being ready to veto.  He should have NO power in America.

Change Your Thinking

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.

Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed.

It faced a blank wall..

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present .'

The origin of this letter is unknown, but it brings good luck to everyone who passes it on.

ATM skimmer ... Thanks Luis!

Customer Discovers Card Skimmer On Bank ATM

When most of us think about illegal card skimmers on ATMs, we think of free-standing cash machines at convenience stores or on the street. But a sharp-eyed bank customer in Massachusetts spotted a skimmer at the last place you'd expect one: the bank.

The customer tells WBZ-TV that he noticed a loose piece of plastic on the machine near where you insert your card. When he touched it, the piece fell out and it was revealed to be a skimmer that would store users' card numbers and PINs.

The scammers who placed the skimmer did a decent job of making it appear to be an integral part of the ATM. One would only spot the change in appearance in a side-by-side comparison with an un-rigged machine. In the above picture, the ATM on the left contains the skimmer, while the one of the right does not.

While the customer who noticed this skimmer hadn't yet used his card on the machine, it's not yet know how many users' information was stolen by the skimmer -- or how someone managed to tinker with a bank ATM without being detected.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

O, God, when I have food,

Help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work, help me

To remember the jobless;

When I have a warm home,

Help me to remember the homeless;

When I am without pain,

Help me to remember those who suffer;

And remembering, help me

To destroy my complacency

And bestir my compassion.

Make me concerned enough

To help, by word and deed,

Those who cry out

For what we take for granted.

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani in Iran Thanks Bob Looney!

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani never practiced the Muslim faith and converted to Christianity at age 19, becoming a pastor later. But the courts say that since his mother and father were practicing Muslims, he must recant his Christian faith or die. So far, in three court appearances, he has refused to do so - RISKING EXECUTION AT ANY MOMENT. The Iranian Supreme Court often acts quickly in administering the death penalty.

According to a report, when asked by judges to "repent," Yousef replied: "Repent, What should I return to? To the blasphemy that I had before my faith in Christ?"

The judges replied: "To the religion of your ancestors - Islam." To which Yousef replied: "I cannot."

It's time for the body of Christ to act, to pray, to plead for the life of our Brother before Christ so that His servant may be spared.

This is what you are asked/called to do. As soon as you receive this email, PRAY IMMEDIATELY. Then call your pastor, your deacons and the people of your Church so that they may all pray too. Then forward this PRAYER REQUEST to every CHRISTIAN you know so that they may pray also.

It appears that Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani will avoid the hangman in Iran for the time being.

Nadarkhani, once the leader of a 400-person congregation in Rasht, was previously convicted of apostasy -- the crime of abandoning Islam and converting to Christianity -- but Iran now claims that the death penalty reports that circulated around the world last week were unsubstantiated.

“Youssef Nadar-Khani [sic] has been charged with a crime and is in a prison based on an arrest warrant issued against him,” Gilan Province Judiciary Chief Mohammad-Javad Heshmati said on Wednesday, according to Iran state news agency Press TV.

“There has been no execution order. No conviction at all has been issued yet and it is up to the court to finally decide the verdict after studying his case,” he added.

Since news of Nadarkhani's looming execution spread, Iran has been loudly decrying the pastor as "a convicted rapist and extortionist," and the Fars News Agency said over the weekend that Nadarkhani was to be executed for Zionism and threats to national security.

“This individual is guilty and his crime is not attempting to convert others to Christianity, rather his crimes are of a security nature,” Ali Rezvani, Deputy Governor of Gilan Province, stated.

But Nadarkhani was first arrested in 2009 and until Monday, the government had only mentioned the apostasy charge for years, at least according to the court documents that have been released.

It is believed that in 2010, Iran's Supreme Court upheld the death by hanging sentence, and the filing signed by judges Morteza Fazel and Azizoallah Razaghi mentions the religious charges against Nadarkhani and nothing more.

"Mr. Youcef Nadarkhani, son of Byrom, 32 years old, married, born in Rasht in the state of Gilan, is convicted of turning his back on Islam, the greatest religion the prophesy of Mohammad at the age of 19," the document states.

"He has often participated in Christian worship and organized home church services, evangelizing and has been baptized and baptized others, converting Muslims to Christianity. He has been accused of breaking Islamic Law that from puberty (15 years according to Islamic law) until the age of 19 the year 1996, he was raised a Muslim in a Muslim home.

"During court trials, he denied the prophecy of Mohammad and the authority of Islam. He has stated that he is a Christian and no longer Muslim. During many sessions in court with the presence of his attorney and a judge, he has been sentenced to execution by hanging according to article 8 of Tahrir–olvasileh."

Nonetheless, Iran has accused Western media of "manipulating" the facts surrounding the case in order to "wage an anti-Iran publicity campaign."

"Iran has firmly refuted Western allegations of violating human rights, insisting that Nadar-Khani has a history of committing violent crimes and that he has never received a death penalty for his religious preference," Press TV asserted.

If Nadarkhani were indeed guilty of rape and of Zionism, which could be the treasonous crime of spying for Israel, the death penalty would not be off the table. Both convictions are subject to capital punishment in Iran, and the death penalty is mandatory in rape cases unless the victim forgives the rapist.

Apostasy is not officially in Iran's penal code, but is still punishable by death under official fatwas and religious texts.

The disappearance of the death penalty may be an indication that Iran, wary of more poor press, bowed to international pressure. Last week, a number of world leaders condemned the execution -- The White House, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, the Bishop of Canterbury and the European Union all issued harsh statements to Iran.

Tea Party vs LIberals and liberal media

Dear Patriot,

This is one of those moments in American history that will determine how the American people are different than the rest of the world. Moments like when hundreds of George Washington’s troops loved freedom and their country so much, they chose to stay and fight at Valley Forge during the heart of winter when a majority of them had no boots to march in the snow, so instead wore burlap bags wrapped around their bloodied feet. They also had little food to eat. What made these hundreds of patriots stay by George Washington’s side under such horrific conditions when so many others had already abandoned him? And those that stayed carried on to win battle after battle to eventually grant us our freedoms we now sometimes take for granted. Fellow patriots, that moment in time when everyday Americans stood up to the King of England and the most powerful army in the world and still won was when the term “American Exceptionalism” was born. This is what makes us different than the rest of the world. Americans are willing to make sacrifices to defend as Ronald Reagan called us “the last great hope for mankind on earth.”

What made those everyday farmers and craftsmen put down their hoes and hammers, leave their families and put their lives on the line under such harsh conditions to boot? It is one word. Freedom. The freedom that lets us live our lives as we see fit and not how a dictator, a king or centralized government feels we should lead them. The freedom that has attracted millions and millions from across the globe to come here seeking a better life and to sometimes even risk their lives leaving countries that would kill them if they tried to leave. This freedom we have enjoyed for over 230 years is literally under assault, just as it was in the revolutionary war. There is a powerful contingent inside and outside of the USA that want this freedom eroded in America, so that America is no longer “the shining city on the hill” as we have been for those 230+ years to the world. This group would rather see the United States as just another socialist country with a diminished military that conforms to the will of a centralized global authority like the United Nations.

Folks, we are at a crossroads not unlike what those farmers and craftsmen experienced in the 1700’s. We have two clear choices. Freedom or Socialism. Which one do you choose? Do we stand up together and make the collective sacrifices together needed to defend freedom and American exceptionalism as our founders did or do we conform to what the King wanted, or in our case, what Obama, the liberals and the global authority want? Thankfully we do not need to pick up arms to do so as our founders did many years ago to protect our freedoms because technology has given us the resources to succeed. Our collective response to these constant attacks by the liberals and liberal media to destroy American Exceptionalism must be to continue to educate the American people on what the tea party movement really is, which is just regular everyday American patriots rising up to protect these dear freedoms that our founders fought for over 230 years ago. When the majority of Americans see the clear distinction to what the tea party movement is fighting for over what the liberals are fighting for, it will be no contest. Our staff and volunteers have spent countless hours designing a series of powerful tea party ads that will show America what the tea party movement is really about and combat these constant viscous attacks on the tea party movement. We have been called “racists,” “terrorists,” the sexual slur “teabaggers,” “hillbillies,” “extremists,” etc. etc. by liberals and the liberal media in hopes of destroying the tea party movement to lay the groundwork for the re-election of Barack Obama to the White House. We just released our first television ad the other day and you have let us know that it is a hit! Now we already have our second powerful ad to go on national television ready to go with 7 more ads almost completed. We understand this national television ad campaign is very aggressive in that it is very costly, but what choice do we have? We either fight back and win or we give up. This series of ads and the national television airtime on Fox News, CNN and other major networks is going to cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars, but collectively we must figure out a way to get it done. We will be airing ads starting next week and want to continue to show this series of ads and more all the way through election day 2012 to ensure that Barack Obama is a one term president and that conservatives in both parties control both the House and the Senate. When we pool your small donations together with the over 500,000 patriots among our membership, we should be able to easily accomplish this aggressive campaign. What we need from every patriot out there is to please help us succeed by donating what you can. We know times are tough, but defeat is not an option and we must pool our resources together. We will do all the work here but we need patriots help to fund the production of these powerful ads and keep them on national television all through the election. Our opponents are well funded by billionaires like George Soros but our small donations pooled collectively can still defeat them.

Please also take a look at our brand new ad along with the video we just released and give us your opinion. We have been taking your suggestions all along in producing these videos as they are YOUR ads and they are hits!

Thank you for your continued support. We will win this fight to defend freedom just as our founders did at Valley Forge!

Sincerely,

Todd Cefaratti
