For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

The Back Nine ... thx Clay V!

The Back Nine

Subject: Fw: The Back Nine

,

THE BACK NINE
(as in Golf for you non golfers)

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL AND WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD
SENTENCE.  I STOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWER AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY
WORD. THIS EMAIL IS VERY THOUGHT-PROVOKING.  MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK.

AND THEN IT IS WINTER

You know ... time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.  It
seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate.
Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went.  I know that I lived them
all.  I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is... the "back nine" of my life and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast?
Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were
years away from me and that "I was only on the first hole" and the "back nine" was so far off that I
could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is... my friends are retired and getting gray... they move slower and I see an older person
now.  Some are in better and some worse shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not like the
ones that I remember who were young and vibrant... but, like me, their age is beginning to show and
we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day!  And taking a nap is not a
treat anymore... it's mandatory!  Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so... now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the
loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!!

But, at least I know, that though I'm on the "back nine," and I'm not sure how long it will last... this I
know, that when it's over on this earth... it's over.   A new adventure will begin!  Yes, I have regrets.
There are things I wish I hadn't done... things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things
I'm happy to have done.  It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not on the "back nine" yet... let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think.
So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too
long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you're on
the "back nine" or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life... so, live for today and say all the
things that you want your loved ones to remember... and hope that they appreciate and love you for
all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!

"Life" is a gift to you.  The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after.  Make it a fantastic
one.  LIVE IT WELL!  ENJOY TODAY!  DO SOMETHING FUN!  BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Remember it is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.

LASTLY, CONSIDER THIS:
~Your kids are becoming you...... but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything.... especially golf.
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't
care to do them anymore.
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep."
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.

But Old is good in some things:
Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!

Stay well, "OLD FRIEND!" Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT!!!
It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS
DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

Economic Crash:

In the first half of Tuesday's show, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, radio host and author Peter Schiff commented on the current gyrations of the government, as well as the real financial position of the United States, and why he thinks we're headed for an implosion. Interestingly, he believes that raising the debt ceiling (currently stalled in Congress) is part of the problem rather than the solution. "Default is inevitable...anyway. But we're not going to default because we don't raise the debt ceiling. We're going to default because we do raise the debt ceiling," he remarked, explaining that eventually the US will have so much debt that creditors are going to cease lending the country money. Yet right now, the US doesn't have to default because it can keep borrowing money from the same people who owe it, he continued.

Schiff suggested that the US go "cold turkey" on stimulus programs. "We've got to let interest rates go up, and then, we've got to slash trillions of dollars per year" in government spending including entitlements, national defense, as well as eliminate entire departments like Education and Energy, which could be managed by states, he said. While he predicted the 2008 crisis and housing bubble, he believes that an even bigger crash is coming due to the increased spending and debt. What we're facing is "an overdose on government stimulus, and death of the currency, which is going to be the death of the economy," he warned.

The Supernatural:

In the latter half, expert in supernatural science, Voodoo and conjuring, Tobias McGriff, spoke about his investigations and research. He is currently working on a documentary called Modern Hauntings which will feature startling video evidence. A woman in Cleveland shared footage with him recorded on a nanny cam that shows a translucent outline of a body interacting with her young baby. The outline is said to greatly resemble the woman's husband, a soldier who died while stationed in Afghanistan who never saw his new baby. The figure has the doting stance of a father, and the infant seems to be reacting to him, McGriff detailed.

There seems to be a connection between the dream state and ghostly entities, as though we are our own portals, he said. People are more likely to be attacked by negative entities when they are at their most vulnerable such as being asleep, or going through a time of great tragedy, he reported. In one case, a man who was a non-believer went on a ghost investigation with him and had three of his front teeth knocked out in an attic, as though by an invisible punch. The man was alone in the attic at the time, McGriff recounted. Surprisingly, the most common signs of a haunting or something supernatural are not visual-- they are the sound of unexplained footsteps, and smells, such as the perfume of a deceased grandmother, he noted. For more, check out photos shared with McGriff from people who've attended his Blue Orb Ghost Tours of Savannah.

Blast from the Past:

This week, our Blast from the Past free audio clips are from October 2007, when Christopher Moon discussed his work with the ' Telephone to the Dead' (Frank's Box), a device that purportedly allows him to communicate with the spirit world, including with the famous inventor Thomas Edison, and authors David M. Kiely & Christina McKenna spoke about contemporary cases of possession and exorcism, including that of Gary, a boy who came into contact with a demon at the age of 10.
Today in Strangeness:

On this day in 1793, Marie Antoinette was guillotined at the height of the French Revolution. The Cardiff Giant, which turned out to be one of America's most famous hoaxes, was "discovered" on October 16, 1869. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a commemoration of Egypt's lost Library of Alexandria was inaugurated on this day in 2002.

Tonight's Show, Wednesday, October 16th:

Futurist Paul Guercio and physicist George Hart of the Merlin Project will discuss their software-based forecasting technology and the graphical snapshots of time, called Timetraks, it generates. They'll update us on their latest predictions for various public figures and events.

Winning photos from Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013

The winners of this year’s prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition have been announced. South African photographer Greg du Toit has been named Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013 by the panel of international judges for his image Essence of elephants, a mysterious and energetic portrait of African elephants. Click through to see the rest of this year's winners.
Winner: Wildlife Photographer of the Year
Ever since he first picked up a camera, Greg has photographed African elephants. For many years, he says, I've wanted to create an image that captures their special energy and the state of consciousness that I sense when I'm with them. This image comes closest to doing that. The shot was taken at a waterhole in Botswanas Northern Tuli Game Reserve, from a hide (a sunken freight container) that provided a ground-level view. Greg chose to use a slow shutter speed to create the atmosphere he was after and try to depict these gentle giants in an almost ghostly way. He used a wide-angle lens tilted up to emphasize the size of whatever elephant entered the foreground, and chose a narrow aperture to create a large depth of field so that any elephants in the background would also be in focus. Greg had hoped the elephants would turn up before dawn, but they arrived after the sun was up. To emphasize the mysterious nature of these enigmatic subjects, he attached a polarizing filter and set his white balance to a cool temperature. The element of luck that added the final touch to his preparation was the baby elephant, which raced past the hide, so close that Greg could have touched her. The slow shutter speed conveyed the motion, and a short burst of flash at the end of the exposure froze a fleeting bit of detail.
