I could not sleep because of the SEC tournament excitement we were there for. David came in to the lobby from a night out with his
two brothers.
That wasn't too long after the devastationg 9/11/2001 attacks which destroyed our twin towers in NYC, wrecked part of the pentagon, and crash-ended due the interruptions by a few brave Americans of a third plane in
a Pennsylvania field.
David and I agreed that the Saudis, of which the planned attack leader Osama bin Ladin, and the majority of others were Saudi Arabian citizen pilots.
Dave has served a decade, mailnly in Afghanistan teaching Afghanians the American Army supply system. His students appreciated his straight-forward approach in teaching them.
Dave wrote and had published a book: "No Regrets", which I congratulated him for his honesty in writing about his experiences and travel in the Middle East.
Now that the USA has pulled out and the Taliban have quuicklly mocved baack in, I would like to know if David feels that the USA's mission was accomplished there?
I watched Trey Gowdy's Fox News show tonight and he
repeatedly asked the question: Was it 'mission accomplished' or a failure?
The vacuum which the quick retreat of the USA troops created and the Afghan people and all other American allies who witnessed our patriotism immediately after 911, must feel that the USA had betrayed our expected faithfulness
in keeping our promises to search and destroy the wicked enemies of the free world who destroyed our prize property on our American soil.
I expect only further honesty from David if he chooses to reply; however, things are quite different in Afghanastan at the moment. He should never regret his honesty or
in freely expressing himself. He should see it
from quite a different perspective than most USA citizens.
I have felt that the persp-ective of a worker ant in the middle of an ant the hill cannot have the perspective of those soldier ants near the top of the hill and being closer to the Queen.

Trump fell in love with Americans as he campaigned in 2016. You people who are continually begging us seniors to give money with each conservative message is absolutely sickening to me. And it is wrong-headed! I gave a hundred recently on a 7X promise and it didn't happen. "Wha Hoppen, GI?" Was it just another
Trump increased his family fortune doing his business before he ran for PUSA, and I believe God respects all of the good business sense in that; however, Donald has idiots sending these begging messages. I would vote for DonaldJTrump but not these money grabbers!
Sure, it takes money; however, be reasonable of the sources for your BEGGING, people, whoever you are! Christian Conservatives are generous but many of us seniors are cash-limited. Wake up, Conservatives! Do the right job for the best PUSA who did his job so rightly.
We need more Trump ingenuity doing great things for all people in the greatest country in the world, and there is no limit of things needing to be done!
You beggers are doing more harm than good in my honest opinion.

What was Japan's greatest weakness during WWII?
Imperial Japan had several conspicuous weaknesses and opinions vary regarding which was the greatest weakness. This is a complex matter not admitting of a simplistic answer.
IMO, Japan’s greatest weakness in the Pacific War was:
Weak logistical capacity
According to Military logistics
Military logistics is the discipline of planning and carrying out the movement and maintenance of military forces. In its most comprehensive sense, it is those aspects or military operations that deal with:
Design, development, acquisition, storage, distribution, maintenance, evacuation, and disposition of materiel.
Transport of personnel.
Acquisition or construction, maintenance, operation, and disposition of facilities.
Acquisition or furnishing of services.
Medical and health service support.
These are all simple to understand. Soldiers need to be fed and cared for properly to fight well. Military units need weapons, fuels and ammunitions. Without those critical necessities, a combatant nation will lose a war no matter how well-trained and brave its fighting men are.
Let’s start off with a prelude:
What is the one salient fact about Japan?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
It is an island nation!!
Also, here is another salient fact about Japan: It is very poor in natural resources.
What is the implication of these 2 salient facts in the context of WW2?
Being an island nation, Japan needed a strong navy to project power and defend the empire. At the same time, it needed a large fleet of supply ships to maintain its far-flung territories with a steady provision of ammunition, foods and other materials.
Being poor in natural resources, Japan depended heavily on raw materials imported from its conquered territories to sustain industrial production, its war economy vital to keep the Japanese war machine running. To transport back to the Home Islands vast quantities of raw materials, a large merchant fleet was indispensable.
The one thing that differentiates WW2 from the wars that preceded it was that it was a total war - a war in which all national assets: manpower, human talent, scientific and technological expertise, raw materials, economic power - are mobilized for the war effort. Of these assets, economic power played a decisive role in influencing the ultimate outcome of the war because it produced materials of all kinds to fight war - weapons, ammunition and foods. With regards to Japan, Japanese military leaders fully appreciated the war-winning potential of economic power as evident through a conclusion made in a study conducted by Japanese officers on WW1. In that study, Japanese officers concluded that Germany lost the war primarily to economic reasons. Specifically, Germany was deprived of vital commodities due to British naval blockade, causing its economy to collapse and unable to sustain the war machine. From that conclusion, Japanese officers reasoned that
in total modern wars of a longer duration, combatant nations would no longer be able to depend just on their own resources. For the manufacture and operation of military equipment, nations would need to secure supply of commodities such as coal, oil and iron ore.
And indeed, one of the primary reasons driving Japan’s decision to go to war with the Anglo-American powers was the desire for economic autarky which was very similar to Nazi Germany’s desire for economic autarky which in turn motivated its decision to invade the Soviet Union.
If a combatant nation is endowed with vast amount of natural resources within its border, it will have no difficulty obtaining the materials needed for its factories. Otherwise, it will have to import it from somewhere else. With regards to Japan, being poor in natural resources and being an island nation, it needed to import raw materials for its factories and foods for its population from colonies of the empire: Taiwan, Korea, China, and Southeast Asia. The primary means of transport was of course: merchant ships.
(On a related note, merchant shipping was absolutely necessary because unlike the highly industrialized Europe, most of Southeast Asia was poor, agrarian with no or limited industrial capacity provided by European imperialist powers. Hence, while Germans were able to utilize the existing factories in France or Czechslovakia to produce weapons/repair vehicles locally, there were no large industrial complex in Southeast Asia which the Japanese could use to turn raw materials into finished products. All production had to be done in Japan.)
Unfortunately for the Japanese, they never had sufficient merchant shipping capacity to sustain its war economy. Japanese war planners estimated that Japan needed about 10,000,000 tons of shipping just to maintain her economy. However in 1941, only about 6,000,000 tons bore the Rising Sun flag. The rest had been supplied before the war by nations who would later become Japan’s enemy: Britain, Netherlands, Norway, etc…
After its conquest of European-controlled Southeast Asia, Japan captured about 700,000 tons of merchant shipping which still left a very large deficit. Without sufficient merchant shipping capacity, the Japanese were unable to fully exploit the fruit of their conquest by transporting vast amount of raw materials back to the Home Islands to sustain its war machine.
To make matter worse, throughout the war Japan’s merchant fleet suffered heavy destruction by the US naval air force and submarines. American submarines destroyed 55% of Japanese’s merchant fleet, further depriving Japan of much needed raw materials. The Japanese Navy’s parochial and obsession with offensive warfare at the expense of defensive warfare left its merchant fleet vulnerable to the predation of American submarines.
The table below shows a summary of Japan’s merchant-shipping tonnages that included losses to all causes as well as tonnage available.
By 1945, Japan had lost most of its warships and merchant ships. The amount of imported resources was reduced by 40%. The reduction of imported raw materials reduced production output weapons which adversely affected Japan’s war-fighting ability. The reduction of food imports turned food shortage into food crisis, afflicting million of Japanese with malnourishment which diminish their morale and support for the war.
And the harm caused by weak logistical capacity extended to the front line. Japan’s lack of a large fleet of supply ships had far-reaching adverse consequences to the war effort.
To understand this, it is necessary to understand the expansion progress of the Japanese Empire and its far-reaching consequences for Japanese war efforts.
Japanese Empire at its greatest extent in 1942
Image source: Pacific Crucible - Ian W. Toll
The one conspicuous fact conveyed by those 2 maps: The Japanese Empire consisted of landmasses separated by vast stretches of water.
When Japan emerged as a regional power in East Asia after it won the 1st Sino-Japanese War, it seized Taiwan (known as Formosa back then) and Korea. The total land area of the Japanese Empire = 243,500 square miles = 145,000 (Japan) + 85,000 (Korea)+ 13,500 (Taiwan).
In 1931, Japan seized Manchuria. This added 425,000 square miles to the Empire.
In 1937, when the 2nd Sino-Japanese War broke out, Japan controlled a total of 655,000 square miles.
In 1941, Japan sent troops to Indochina - by then under the control of French Vichy government. But the French colonial government there was weak. So in effect, the Japanese controlled Indochina. At this stage, Japan controlled an area measuring about 1,600,000 square miles.
In the first 4 months of 1942, the Japanese conducted their own Oriental Blitzkrieg against European powers to seize their colonial possessions (Malaya, Singapore, the Philippines, Dutch East Indies). Owing to German victories in Europe, European forces stationed in Asia were weak and were swiftly overcome by the battle-hardened Japanese. Japan emerged victorious and this brought the whole of Southeast Asia under Japanese rule. At this stage, the total land area controlled by Japan was 2,900,000 square miles.
This means over a period of just over 10 years (1931–1942), the Empire of Japan witnessed a remarkable expansion from 243,500 square miles to 2,9 million square miles: a growth factor of about 12 times.
And that was just land area. Japan’s conquest also brought under her control vast stretch of sea. If sea area is included, the Empire of Japan covered an area measuring 20,000,000 square miles.
This rapid territorial expansion created enormous logistical difficulty for Japan. Indeed, Japan’s conquest actually brought more long-term harms than benefits to Japan because the logistics of defending this such an expansive territory was complex and costly. Anticipating attacks by the Allies, the Japanese dispatched troops to garrison and build defense on the Marshalls, Gilbert, Solomons islands in the South and Central Pacific. In particular, the Japanese sought to build a system of air bases on those islands that could provide mutual air support in the event of an Allied attacks. Essentially, they envisioned a building a strong system of island defense to secure the Empire against Allied attack.
Unfortunately for the Japanese, they lacked the logistical capacity to realize their vision of a strong island defense system.
They did not have the heavy construction equipment employed by the US Navy’s construction battalion (Seebees) to transform rapidly primitive land into air bases. Most of the construction work was done manually by Korean slave labors or using small bulldozers that were far less powerful than American-built bulldozers. The Henderson airfield on Guadalcanal was one example. When the US marines captured the air field, it was not yet finished and the Marines had to complete what construction work that remained.
In fact, in the South Pacific, the only decent airbase the Japanese had was on Rabaul. By contrast, the American seebees were able to construct airfield on whatever islands they captured using their heavy construction equipment. Japanese air force officer Masatake Okumiya remarked bitterly that
Had Japan possessed even 1/5th of the American capacity for building air bases, the Guadalcanal air campaign might have ended differently. Had we possessed such air bases, we could have brought several times as much power to bear upon the American forces. One of Japan’s greatest blunders in the Pacific War certainly lay in its failure to devote proper study to such matters as logistical and engineering support of our combat air forces.
Japanese soldiers also became victims to this weak logistical support. In all Pacific campaigns, Japanese forces operated with shoestring supplies of all kinds: ammunitions, foods and medical care. The lack of supply shipping forced the Japanese to often resort to transporting supplies to their troops by submarines or even destroyers as in the Guadalcanal campaign.
Indeed, on New Guinea, Japanese troops relied on Australian rations captured at supply depots or on dead enemy soldiers. In some extreme cases, they resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Thousands of Japanese soldiers rescued from Guadalcanal were severely malnourished, many were little more than bones covered by skins. Thousands of Japanese troops died from starvation and diseases. Japanese forces on islands bypassed by American forces (island hopping strategy) were weakened by starvation because Imperial HQ decide to write them off which denied them of supplies for the rest of the war.
Emaciated Japanese troops on Marshall Islands at the end of the war
By contrast, the Allies and in particular the Americans throughout the war received far more logistical support than their Japanese counterparts. The USN had a large fleet of oilers and supply ships that not only provided its carrier task force with the so-called staying power - the ability to remain in combat operation for great length of time (13-16 weeks) but also supply the Marines fighting on Islands with ample supply of ammunitions and foods. Indeed starting since the beginning of 1944, US commanders knew that the US would win the war against Japan because of enormous American material superiority AND the ability of the US military to deliver the massive quantities of supplies to distant battlefields. That logistical capability was something the Japanese could only dream of.
Conclusion
Being an islands nation poor in natural resources, Japan’s success in the war depended heavily on maritime imports and protection of maritime transport. Astoundingly, the Japanese failed spectacular at that. Their merchant fleet was ravaged by American submarines, thereby depriving them of the vital raw materials for their war machine. Furthermore, the failure to keep their soldiers supplied on far-flung islands led to one defeat after another, loss of territories, the strangling of the Empire and ultimate defeat.
All of these failures were simply inexcusable and inconceivable and demonstrated Japanese strategic incompetence and that Japan , as Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox remarked
was either unable to understand modern war or not qualified to take part in it.
But at the end of the day, despite having had to fight with savagely limited resources, the Japanese consistently put up fierce resistance and made their enemy pay a heavy price in blood. It was a testament to the bravery of the Japanese fighting men that deserved our respect.

I know you have always been interested in the events of WW II, son, so I believe the attached information concerning the Japanese inability to win WW II would interest you. You have heard my story of a long-time American sergeant when I was in Japan, saying that Japan wanted American Territory so that they could 'put a lot of rice patties between the Pacific Ocean and the Mississippi River.
We attended my brother-in-law, Russ Brown's funeral in Chillicothe yesterday. Russ had Trina's son, RJ, who played football for Zane Trace, and lived with Russ after my sister, Mary Lou's, passing in 2013. RJ is over six feet and has kept up his strength-building. He is a fine-looking young fellow (29) who has been in the US Army for 8 years but told me he will re-enlist soon. He has served in Kuwait overseas. He said their people do not want us there. Japan, In my 1953 and 1954 months there, would have occasional street passersby's saying "GI go home". We get many more hateful comments from our own supposed countrymen today.
The USA has not been like Britain in empire-building of conquered territories. Besides crooked deals by our supposed national representatives in Congress, we have helped rebuild the economies of those defeated enemies of ours. Politicians represent themselves when there is a lot of money being doled out, ahead of their patriotism. Otherwise, the land we claim in conquered territories are for the burial of our service people killed there.

I, this blue-collar railroader's son and retired metallurgicaL engineer, have felt so many blessings in life. The sport of softball is nearly
the pinnacle for "Old Sammy", particularly little girls' softball. Portsmouth Ohio area friends, Graydon Webb's lifetime
acquaintance with Charles Ison, the entrepreneur of Creative Network Studios, have brought about the screenplay
"Diamond Girls" by Nathan Wheeler of CNS, based upon my "Grandparents and Softball" book subtitled; "Girls Love Softball".
As a University of Kentucky alumnus of many years ago, I subscribe to the Lexington Herald-Leader online mainly to keep up
with UK basketball. My wife, 90-year young Jeanie, and I, keep up with the UK teams and have had a terrific year of watching
their ladies' sports teams this spring. In watching the UK ladies' teams win the National Volleyball Championship, and also enjoy a very
successful softball season. We have especially enjoyed the "Sports Extra" the LH-L includes.
The delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics are extremely probable here in 2020, and "Diamond Girls" might enjoy a 'kick-in-the-pants' or KITP charge
for the opening games on July 20, 21, within a month.
Old Sammy believes NBC Olympic coverage and Charles Ison's friends at NBC could give a 'sold-sign' boost to production, if completed
before or in the shortest time thereafter.
Everyone has witnessed that Sports professional salaries have been sky-rocketed through media efforts over the last few decades, and barring
'Armageddon', the ladies will most likely enjoy a KITP breakthrough in sports entertainment with the 2021 coverage out of the COVID 19-
devastated 2020 year. Please see:

Our lives instantly overflowed with grandparental love when we first spotted each of our three granddaughters at their birth. Scout's sister is Tobey, who will becomne 25, July 12. Younger son Jeff's, Morgan, will become 26, November 15.
Joy in seeing, hearing, or sharing has always been instantaneous as we are permitted time with any one of our beauties. Each are Ohio U. graduates and have begun their working journeys. Tobey is so talented in anything she enters into and Scout, a fine artist with painting, is so conscientious in applying her gifts. Morgan enjoys middle school science teaching as her dad, Jeff, did in High School unntil his retirement just a few years ago.
Jeanie and I will celebrate our 70th anniversary January 19, 2022.
The thing that is so astonishing to us is the happiness the little girls, and now young ladies, have brought us in these latter years of our lives. We credit our Creator and His plans for us humans in sending His son, Jesus, as our savior. The words and music of "How Great Thou Art" rings beautifully in our ears, as we wonder at these few short years. of our lives. We thank you, Lord!

All from a moderate PUSA, Paul. One of The biggest crimes against America by any human, was that of the supposed moderate who sat there signing that stack of re-regulations, which our wonderful predecessor PUSA deleted to help MAGA! Then "Old Sleepy Joe" went back to bed for the day. I don't know if he has ever woken up from his nap. I pray that the middle voters of America wake up soon to what we have already lost in Biden's short presidency, but then become aware of what is before us and how important their verified votes are.. They don't seem to care. Talk about the 'ostriches sticking their heads in the sand ...'

After the republicans and democrat politicians have so badly screwed up our country- the most blessed country in God's created history, I somehow thought about Charles Barkley. Now, Old Sammy's sports entertainment has been topped by his being a Kentucky basketball fan after finishing my undergraduate degree at that wonderful institution in 1961. This was while I was trying to nap, which I do most times after waking early around 5 or 6, going to pick up the Columbus Disgrace newspaper, subscribed to by six of our thirty-seven condo in our one building resident, and doing a very quick workout in our very nice little workout room. Just keepin' the old fellow's joints moving, and his muscles from sagging less. I thought how wonderful it would be for Dolald Trump to win in 2024 and have Charles as his VP partner. I loved Mike Pence, veep with PUSA Trump and as a Christian representative of USA citizens. Charles would simply
Thank you, God for helping make me a Kentucky basketball fan. I have dredded games against Auburn's "Round Mound of Rebound", back in the days when Coach Joe B. Hall had to contend with the fellow. I love the man, Charles as his comments show his outstanding amount of 'common sense'.
I wish God would get Trump and Barkley together to lead this country out of our Soddom and Gomorrah ways.
I, in my very unimportant but wonderful capacity as an American citizen, would like to nominate Charles Barkley, once the fat boy basketball player, as the Ameican Citizen with the highest amount of Common Sense.

Joan Klitch, our great friend, Dick's widow, called last evening and told me they were planning a Celebration of Dick's life for Friday, Sept. 17 - 3 1/2 mos. from now.
Members of the Portsmouth Breakfast Group wondered if one had been planned, and I emailed her a few weeks ago, asking about it.
Dick and Joan had lived with their son, Tim and his wife in Austin, TX for the last few years after a stroke left Dick requiring help in walking and communicating for a
while. They raised their family in their Marble Cliff home near Grandview. He had been in hospice a while before he passed 1/31/21 in Austin.
Dick was on Halls of Fame for Tennis and Basketball at Miami of Ohio, Northam Tennis, signed his
star on the Portsmouth floodwall, won Portsmouth High School's only singles tennis championship, was part of the US Navy's tennis doubles championship in the Far
East, and was named a Portsmouth Ambassador. He was recognized as one of their finest athletes ever.
Because he also played basketball for the AAU Akron U semi-pro basketball teams after graduating from Miami, he was known all over the state and the world
or wherever he played any kind of ball. He called himself a 'meat and potatoes teaching pro' and was very well respected as a teaching pro. I neglected to catch the ≈
time of the event but ZI expect it will be nearly mid-day because Columbus is accessible from most parts of the state in just a couple of hours' drive.
Please advise any of those who might have known Mr. Klitch, Joan, or any of the popular and successful family.
Jeanie and I are so grateful to have shared many events with them,

If nominations for the best performing American voters were open, I would nominate and vote for the non-white 2016 and 2020 voters who picked President Donald Trump. The white American voters would be next in line.
The business-man President Trump easily outperformed all of the politician presidents outstandingly in my honest opinion! We had an actor-President who served nearly as amicably.
Joe Biden is a pretender who, in his half century as a politician supposed-representative of the people has simply represented his family and gained them riches due to his political offices.
I believe representative's efforts to permit and accelerate voting of people without verifiable identification as American citizens is criminal and the elected officials should create such a law.
I guess it is terrible to be a Conservative Christian in this shrinking religious nation.
I feel a dislike from some of my family and former friends because of such opinions, so be it! You should know where I stand.

to me,
The leftists have done so much to discredit the Christian faith and all churches in the recent history of the United States of America. It is easy in today's society of this "greatest country on God's Green Earth" to say 'look at those hypocrites. As our entertainment has become more base, as well as so many other of society's devilish turns, corporate 'they' also say : Those goody two shoes do the same as we do, and they should not judge us.
As a youngster, I resented most seeing Phoniness in the character of others.
not genuine or real
(Entry 1 of 4) : not genuine or real: such as. a(1) : intended to deceive or mislead. (2) : intended to defraud : counterfeit.5 days ago
Phony | Definition of Phony by Merriam-Websterwww.merriam-webster.com › dictionary › phony
I have never met a perfect person and I make it a point to say so in the many books in which I have written about Acquaintances of Integrity or admirable people.
I accepted Christ as a youngster, as the greatest gift ever given in this world. What a gift it was for our creator to see the evil in this world by the beings he initiated on earth. In self-searching by the greatest of all, His plan was to allow his son to come to earth and unjustly suffer humiliation and torture by those very beings, us. The point being that the man, Jesus, was such a great kind and gentle teacher, whose life events of miracles and goodness have
lived on for the two-thousand plus years after his death, and wonderful resurrection.
I am 'Old Sammy' now, and I still resent phonies. Pastor Frank, the preacher of two first names, Frank Carl, of Genoa Church, only a few miles above our Condo in Westerville, gave a story about calling his 25-year old grandson in Denver. It was just to check on him because of their greater than four-foot wild snowstorm this past week. "Grandpa, why did you just call? I just saw a man on a corner who was obviously cold and alone, so I asked myself 'what would my grandfather do', then you called. I thought about it and gave the man my very loved Ohio State University blanket from my car.
Pastor Frank has preached for forty years but also said this morning that the outdoor services at Genoa this past year have affected his ministry more than all of the other years combined. One sure reason is that he is seeing many people come into the church from the parking lot services to be baptized.
As I was impressed by the grandson's- what would grandpa do, I thought of Old Sammy i.e. - me. I am the oldest of my mother's and dad's family now and I don't believe any member of our relatives does not know that Old Sammy wants to be a Chrisitan, but this old guy is certainly not perfect. Moreover, they have shown some resentment for this Christian Conservative and resent his politics.
Am I a phony then? I certainly hope not! I am glad Pastor Frank's grandson thought enough of the actions of his grandpa, rather than the fact that Pastor Frank stands out to my beautiful Jeanie and me as one of the best heart-felt sermon deliverers we have heard. We have also been privileged to be friends of so many excellent preacher friends.
Sam Kegley
Also, thanks to the wonderful friends of ours who have helped young Jeanie recover so well from her broken hip with their heart-felt wishes and prayers. Pastor Frank noticed that my girl was with me as we departed the parking lot, and came to our car and greeted her with more well-wishes. My favorite verse from Jesus' Sermon on the mount, in Matthew, has always been: Judge not ye that be not judged. I never mean to judge. But I believe I will see a lot of preachers and others who are our friends in Heaven, and I am happy that God let's us witness greatness among such Christians on earth as it is in Heaven.

The guys had such excellent sense in that the first whose name I missed said something to the effect that people want to come to America, not because they seek Marxism, rather it is because they seek freedom. The freedoms won by churches and individuals and groups not minding hard work but desiring opportunities. I have been electronically disenfranchised for the last few days. I must repeat that neither Jeanie nor I see friends often when out, even before the COVID-19 pandemic. So few friends outside our nuclear family except for the people I send emails out to are still living. Dr. Dan Ross said something which I consider 'profound' in a recent Portsmouth Breakfast meeting in Columbus, that if someone uses the internet and gets messages they don't want, their keyboard has a delete button - I'm only half-kidding, because the ex- Director of the OHSAA is always so very wise. But I'm not kidding at all when I ask you to please email me back with or without your message for me to quit sending my missiles to you. There will be no problem on my end of the line.
Jeanie and I were so spiritually- buoyed-up by the wonderful responses upon my original message about her breaking her left hip and falling on the non-icy spot we shared on the after church Genoa service February 7. Riverside Hospital accepted her in Emergency, and informed us that she would require surgery next day for hip fracture. Messages of encouragement poured in from family and internet friends. We heard testimonies that the hip surgeries were very successful over the last few years. Now, that is our experience. I am an emotional person who could not bear to see the girl I love deeply, hurt so much and cry, and I could almost feel her pain myself. Jeanie is 90 and did not want to have another osteoarthritis caused surgery because she has had probably 10 such at different joints throughout our 69 years of marriage.
I am nevertheless surprised by her improvement already after four weeks of post-operative therapy for partial hip replacement. This operation could not have been avoided. She received excellent treatment at Riverside and at Friendship Village in Columbus.
This Christian Conservative husband has prayed during, before, and even more now after, and thankfully to our Creator that I witness the goodness in the results. She will be getting more therapy. I have searched for Graydon Webb, our Ports group's wonderful carrying on who put things more succinctly somewhat by attesting to the Creator's guide to succesful scientific surgeries in encouragement for Jeanie.
Thanks family and friends!

Many of you know that I have written books since my metallurgical retirement 24 years ago. Jeanie and I regret that we see nearly nobody we know when we go out to a restaurant during the coronavirus; however, I tell her or take her so many good wishes from our email correspondence. I never had a best seller nor an agent but so many of you have been in my email receivers on her condition. I sent many notices of the partial hip replacement Sunday evening, 2/7/21, and she has been lifted up by, maybe 60 % well-wishers and mostly that many sincere prayers and several with testimonies from friends who have lived so much better since receiving hip transplants.
She has been up and, although a slight touch of her weight on her left foot to yesterday morning, She took about 8 or 9 with partial weight on her left footlater in the pm. Social planners are. making arrangements for a close-by nursing home to help her for a while after she leaves the hospital. I guess it would be difficult for me to lift her repeatedly and get her in and out of the car.
Jeanie nor I could ever thank everybody for all of the prayers and well-wishers, but it is truly heartening for this young couple of 69 years marriage after a couple of years of courting. I guess that qualifies for old-fashioned as well. She has been looking still, like the 90 year old beauty she is.
Thanks, family and friends!

They did not want this old guy lifting her out of bed and into the car or whatever. I assumed you were not interested, Tennessee. Please explain and tell me you could do that in your retirement. The medical coverage is only through Medicare at the village Columbus and I am responsible for 20%. Thanks for your reply, though, Sally!

We Were bona-fide Mound Park Urchins in Portsmouith, Ohio. An urchin then could be defined as "a mischievous young child, especially one who is poorly or raggedly dressed" especially in my situation as one of ten kids.
Those were days the parents could safely let their kids go to the nearby park early without any thought of serious criminal trouble
throughout the day.
Dick's dad normally worked nights, and so he spent a lot of time with the boys in the park in teaching them baseball, but, more than that, about life in living honestly. And, in winning with fundamentals. Herman Klitch was an outstanding teacher!
I accepted a job 54 years ago in Columbus where DIck was the Dean of Tennis Teaching Pros. We renewed the friendship, which was solid, and spent a lot of our spare times together. Now today is a time of acceptable diversity, but Dick and I shared a completely heterosexual friendship in which our conversations were never, or hardly ever, regarding sexual things. I believe we shared mutual respect, if you won't believe me to be an egotist.
I have written 13 books now without accumulating wealth, just merely a break even status.h My books have to do with interviews of acquaitnances who impressed me that they acted sensibly in their lives and with demonstrated integrity. Dick Klitch is in three of those books. He had a serious stroke a few years ago and after short rehabilitation in Columbus, He and his wonderful wife, Joan (Smith) Klitch, accepted son, Tim's invitation to come and share their house for a while in Austin Texas. Tim had retired his CEO position with the Comerica Bank there and his family was living in a sizable house that Lyndon and Ladybird Johnson once shared.
My wife, Jeanie and I hope someday to share more time with our good friend Dick Klitch in Heaven. Nobody knows when that may be for Joan, Jeanie, or me. We take those passings sadly as they come. Nonetheless, Old Sammy is doubly saddened because I spent so little time in telephone conversations with Dick and was certainly hoping to spend more time here with my friend, Dick Klitch, suspecting the seriousness yet in denial.

But he added that the high-profile nature of the decision is a reason the NCAA has yet to announce its decision.

“We feel confident,” Calipari said on a Zoom teleconference. “But you never know till you hear it’s good to go. He’s got a great case. But we’ll wait to hear.”

Calipari said he could not comment on the elements of UK’s appeal that Sarr not have to sit out the 2020-21 season as a transfer. Sarr transferred from Wake Forest, where last season he was named to the All-ACC Third Team and was runner-up in balloting for the ACC Most Improved Player designation.

Sarr, a 7-footer and native of France, is seen as key to giving Kentucky a big man presence. For Wake Forest last season, he scored 30 points and grabbed 17 rebounds against Notre Dame, scored 25 points in a game against Duke and posted a double-double (20 points and 13 rebounds) in an ACC Tournament game against Pittsburgh.

Experience with players transferring elsewhere (most recently Johnny Juzang this offseason) gives UK a sense of how the appeal process works, said Calipari, adding that a high-profile case can slow the process. Sarr is considered one of the best transfers this offseason. And Kentucky is Kentucky.

“They’ll want to make sure ‘Let’s really make sure we have this right,’” the UK coach said of the NCAA, “and they may take more time. . . .

“I know they don’t treat it any differently than any other case.
