Wood Beauty by a good friend ... thanks Marge R and Ken U!

Ken,

Marge forwarded this to me.  You and I, as metallurgists, have enjoyed the beauty of polished and etched  metal pieces.  The grains form arrays of a variety of hues.  I often attended the Columbus "Wood Chippers" exhibits here in Columbus.  The Beauty of wood grain, mostly carved, was outstanding.

That is a wonderful hobby, Ken.  I don't do it, I just wonder at the great pieces.  Keep it up young fellow!

Sam K.

Hi Emery;

Got thinking about you the other day and wondered how you were and what you are doing now. Its been a couple years since I have heard from you I think.

As for me, I have been fully retired for about 2 and 1/2 years now and I am still living in western NY at the small ranch I bought after leaving DLA. I still enjoy woodworking and help out at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockport NY. My brother located a used wood lathe (a 1960 era PowerMatic originally from the Barker NY School system and I have been practicing wood turning. Enclosed is a couple pictures of a couple items I made. I am by no means an expert wood worker yet but some of the things turned out well enough.

Hope you are happy and well. Drop me a line when you get a chance.

Ken Urtel
