Callous potus (supposed C of C) ... Go Seals! ///retrerat out of our country o! Thx Pidge F!

"A bump in the road" .... remember that callous statement by Obama?

I don't know the author of this poem … received it today.  Very thought-provoking and poignant.  I do recall, however, the President referring to the Benghazi incident as "a bump in the road."  Today I heard an ex-Navy Seal being interviewed on Fox News regarding a book he has written about how to handle crisis situations in our lives.  At the end of the interview, he asked if he could make a comment on Benghazi and of course the anchor said yes.  He then thanked Fox News for keeping the Benghazi story in the news, since other news organizations are not.  He said the Seals who died deserve the public knowing the truth about the whole affair.

The poem was written by a Marine Corps officer (ANON).
THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI

We're the battling boys of Benghazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought ‘till we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead Seals who carried the load
No thanks to us..........we were just "Bumps In The Road".

Please circulate this email....please keep it going so it will reach every American with a computer.  Something has to be done with the incompetent people who literally sat there in the White House and watched the Seals' execution on live streaming video and did absolutely nothing!   The Obama Administration must be held accountable and that will not happen unless ALL of US demand it!

Unless, of course, as Hillary put it, “what difference does it make?”

Hobby Lobby Founder-May Close ALL Stores

The wisdom that comes from above is, first, pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruit...s, without uncertainty or insincerity.   James 3:17
By David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames.  Our first retail store wasn't much bigger than most people's living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God's word.

From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation's largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states.  Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We're Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles.  I've always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money.  And that's what we've tried to do.  We close early so our employees can see their families at night.  We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest.

We believe that it is by God's grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees.  We've not only added jobs in a weak economy, we've raised wages for the past four years in a row.  Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that.

A new government healthcare mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance.  Being Christians, we don't pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don't cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill.  We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs.  It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one.

If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy.
Our government threatens to fine a company that's raised wages four years running.
Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It's not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it's the same for everybody. But that's not true.
The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won't exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice.  With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business.  We don't like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice.  We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

My family has lived the American dream.  We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult.  The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law.  I say that's a choice no American and no American business should have to make.

The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief.  They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christianorganizations including the Catholic church.

Since you will not see this in the liberal media, please pass this on to all your contacts.

Sincerely,
David Green
CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

Wonderful state with no republican leadership ... Thx Pidge F!

Wonderful State with ZERO Republicans
LOL
(NOT A SOUL TO BLAME BUT THEMSELVES FOR ALL THEIR WONDERFULNESS...)
TRULY A DEMOCRAT’S PARADISE!

Now, Consider This:
There are more people on Welfare in Illinois than there  are people working.
Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. averaging $110,000/year.
Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. You can't  blame that on republicans because there aren't any.
Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what?
Be sure to read till the end. I've never heard it explained better.
Perhaps the U.S.  should pull out of Chicago ?
Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago .
221 killed in Iraq AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.
. Here's the Chicago chain of command:
. President: Barack Hussein Obama
. Senator: Dick Durbin
. House  Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
. Governor: Pat Quinn
. House leader: Mike Madigan
. Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan  (daughter of Mike)
. Mayor: Rohm Emanuel
. The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.
. Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago .

. Of course, they're all blaming each other.
. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
. Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
. State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
. Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
. This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us???
. George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the big house.
. Of course he was replaced by Rob Blagoyevitch who is...that's right, also in the big house.
. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago.  That is because he is fighting being sent to...that's right, the big house.
. The Land of Lincoln, where our governors make our license plates.

But you know what? As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian."

P.S.  On August 14, 2013, Jesse Jackson Jr. got sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison for misuse of campaign funds ($750,000).  His wife, Sandi, got sentenced to 1 year in prison for fraud.  Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson (no relationship. Really?) ruled that Sandi Jackson will remain free until Jesse Jr. gets out of prison.   After all, someone has to take care of the kids and teach them Illinois ethics.  ;-)

5 Reasons not to bomb Syria ... Thx Ramey H!

The link below gives a pretty good argument for NOT supplying weapons to the rebels in Syria. Warning!!! This short video is very graphic and not for the weak of heart or stomach. If you are at all squemish, do not look at the video. Reading the text below presents a pretty good argument.

This man makes some good points.  We had better think this problem through before making a sad mistake.

5 Reasons Not To Bomb Syria
John Hawkins
9/3/2013 12:01:00 AM - John Hawkins

Speak softly and carry a big stick, and you will go far. -- Teddy Roosevelt

Barack Obama knows that America's military is a big stick, but unfortunately Roosevelt's advice about speaking softly doesn't seem to have stuck.  Because Barack Obama recklessly shot off his mouth about a "red line" in Syria, he's demanding that our nation insert itself into a civil war between terrorist groups, both of which have chemical weapons, to protect his ego.  Happily, the American people recognize what a foolish move this would be.  A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that only 9% of Americans currently support bombing Syria.  This is why Barack Obama has punted his Syrian War to Congress.  He's hoping that it'll be foolish enough to vote in favor of war to give him the political cover he needs to bomb.  Not only should Congress vote against the war in Syria, if Obama bombs that country anyway, Congress should immediately cut off funds for the war and move to impeach him.  Why?

1) We don't have a son-of-a-b*tch in Syria.  During the Cold War, America used to semi-regularly ally itself with some rather unsavory leaders and groups.  The oft repeated rationale for supporting a dictator in those days was, "He may be a son-of-a-b*tch, but he's our son-of-a-bitch."  In other words, both sides are bad guys, but this bad guy would work with us instead of the Soviets.  In this case, we don't have a dog in the fight.  It's a civil war between two groups that both despise us and will continue to hate us.  Why risk American blood and treasure for people who will hate our guts no matter what we do?

2) Why act as Al-Qaeda's Air Force?  Barack Obama is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but even he should know that Al-Qaeda attacked America on 9/11.  Well now, Bin Laden’s boys are teamed up with the rebels that are fighting Bashar al-Assad.  We just spent a decade killing as many members of Al-Qaeda as humanly possible in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan; so how much sense does it make for Barack Obama to help Al-Qaeda take over Syria by bombing Bashar al-Assad?  Bashar al-Assad may be our enemy, but we should be thrilled he's killing Al-Qaeda and getting more of his terrorist pals in Hezbollah offed in the process.

3) What makes anyone think Obama can pull this off with no repercussions?  What is there in Barack Obama's tenure in the White House that makes anyone think he's likely to handle this well?  The fact that he didn't kill a drone program George W. Bush set up?  Because he was too distracted playing cards with Reggie Love to screw up killing Osama Bin Laden?  Bush essentially won Iraq and Obama screwed up pulling out of that country and has put a hard-earned victory at risk.  He's also on track to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Afghanistan.  His incompetence got Americans killed in Benghazi, Libya.  In Egypt, Obama helped get rid of a relatively friendly dictator in favor of anti-American, pro-terrorist theocrats who lasted just over a year before they were thrown out of power by an Egyptian public that seems to hate Obama almost as much as the Muslim Brotherhood.  Yet, we now think Obama is going to insert himself into a terrorist-heavy civil war in the Middle East without creating as many problems as he solves?  That's like emptying a box of live spiders in a teenage girl's slumber party and not expecting any screaming.

4) It invites retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah.  Many conservatives believe that if we have a choice between bombing Iran or letting it acquire nuclear weapons, we'd be better off to bomb Iran.  However, that is supposed to be a last resort after every other measure has failed.  Given that Iran and Hezbollah are actively supporting Bashar al-Assad, bombing him means actively opposing both of them in a war.  Could they retaliate against us with terrorist attacks?  That's certainly possible.  Will they go after Israel to get at us?  That's highly likely.  Will Israel respond to those attacks?  Yes, Israel will.  Could this set off a larger regional war?  Again, that's certainly possible.  While Iran and Hezbollah have much more to fear from us than we do from them, you don't walk up and kick a bee hive just because President Prissy Pants has worked himself into a huff.

5) It's not in our national interest to bomb Syria.  Costly though it may have been, it was in our national interest to overthrow the Taliban in Afghanistan over 9/11 and to target an aggressive enemy of America like Saddam Hussein in Iraq.  That being said, had we known in advance how long our troops would be stuck in Iraq, it's highly doubtful that we would have ever invaded.  On the other hand, what's the rationale for bombing the side that's fighting Al-Qaeda in Syria?  Both sides hate America.  Both sides cooperate with terrorists.  If anything, since Al-Qaeda is determined to kill Americans and Assad is not, the current dictator in charge is probably the lesser of two evils.  Moreover, encouraging other nations to join us in imposing harsh sanctions on Syria would be just as effective as bombing when it comes to discouraging the use of WMDs without being as provocative.  So, what argument is left?  Are we supposed to bomb Syria to avoid looking "weak?"  Well, if people have that impression, they can ask Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and Anwar al-Awlaki what they think about that if they're willing to search through the bowels of hell long enough to find them.

Now I have had my final say even though I didn't write this piece.

The best argument against a democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter. ~~~ Winston Churchill

to me
The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World.

But if you take out Chicago , Detroit , Washington DC and New Orleans , the United States is 4th from the bottom for Murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the United States .

ALL 4 are controlled by Democrats.

It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data – right?

Clay- A sign of outstanding performances in life ... SamKat

Anybody who has read this blog should know that my highly paid advertising manager, is quite famous in Southern Ohio.  He makes zero just as I do.  But he gave the SamKat blog a big boost in its infancy back in 2008 by referring others to it.  If you motor down Rt. 23 towards Portsmouth, as Jeanie and I did yesterday, you come to a sign saying predominantly "CLAY".  Of course you are entering Clay Township territory.

Not to be funny, but Sam Kegley is so lucky in good friendships.  Clay Vice was a basketball and baseball star in Clay High School in the early fifties.  He practiced basketball in front of three outstanding high school coaches of the time at Clay- Don Monk, Arch Justus, and Homer Pellegrinon.  He played baseball for Dale Bandy and Kenny Long, legends from Clay High School and later for Dick Hopkins, Jr.  for a state runners-up Legion team.

Clay and his wife Carol also coached various ages of girls' softball teams to an enviable record of 93% wins over thirteen years: 1975-1988.  There is something that outstanding teachers and coaches share with their protege's and it is sometimes intangible.  It just stands out as IT, which we Kentucky fans proclaim about our University of Kentucky basketball program.  Coach Bill Rohr of Portsmouth cut me from his varsity, but was an outstanding Civics teacher for a lot of us at Portsmouth High School.  He had wisdom, had played for Coach Paul Brown (in basketball) at Massilon High School), and genuinely liked young students and coaching and teaching.  He said one bit I have passed on in my teaching or seminar experiences.  "I don't care if you are merely digging holes.  Dig yours rounder and better and somebody will notice."

Clay and wife, Carol have produced outstanding results, which Dr. Dan Ross, Ohio High School Athletic Association' Commisioner, is also justly proud of because he himself is a Portsmouth native, and has been a teacher and a coach..

In our eighties, Jeanie and I have a social life of mostly viewings and funerals.  Sadly, our trip was precipitated by a viewing for our good friend, Don Thomas, in Wheelersburg last evening.  Friendships are a lasting thing and we hope to carry them over into the hereafter.

Cal Thomas commentary: Obama's indecisiveness sends wrong message to Middle East

Also in Opinion

  • Editorials
  • Op-Ed Columns

Wednesday September 4, 2013 5:38 AM

Appearing in the White House Rose Garden on Saturday, President Barack Obama apparently experienced a revelation.
He acknowledged there are constitutional limits on his power, something he has heretofore mostly ignored while issuing executive orders, bypassing Congress on appointments and deciding which parts of the Affordable Care Act to follow and which to delay or ignore.
The president will wait for Congress to reconvene on Sept. 9 and debate whether to grant him authority to attack Syria. It is uncertain whether he will get approval for what he says will be a limited — and likely inconsequential — strike.
His indecisiveness sends a clear message to the Middle East, where dictators and mullahs respect power and consistency. They can be expected to have little fear of this president who thinks his order to Navy Seals to kill Osama bin Laden should be sufficient proof of his strength and resolve.
The trouble with an uncertain trumpet blown by a naive and weak leader is that it can get people killed. American people.
Why should any dictator or terrorist fear America? The president promised to bring to justice those who attacked the U.S. mission in Benghazi nearly a year ago, killing four Americans. He hasn’t . With Syria, he has sent a message that will almost certainly invite more attacks on Americans.
You know things are bad when Russian President Vladimir Putin sounds more decisive and more credible than the American president. The day after Secretary of State John Kerry (who looked and sounded more presidential than the president) delivered a ringing justification for attacking Syria, the president undercut him by passing the buck to Congress.
Obama should have immediately recalled Congress, as British Prime Minister David Cameron reconvened Parliament. After a serious debate, a majority of MPs rejected any British military role in attacking Syria. Opposition came from all sides. Maybe that’s what the president fears and why he wants time to lobby Members of Congress before a vote.
What will the president do if Congress refuses to go along, as it well may? If Congress won’t authorize military force against Syria, the president will suffer a double blow from which he may not recover. Will he attack anyway and risk backlash from a public exhausted by war, or will he suspend attack plans and look emasculated as Damascus and others are already claiming he is? Either way, he and America lose.
In view of the president’s disastrous foreign-policy performance, it is surreal to read the citation for his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, which in a rare moment of humility he admitted was undeserved given his short time in office. The citation said in part: “Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts.”
The Nobel committee may want to consider asking the president to return the prize.
Hillary Clinton was right when she said during her run for president in 2008 that Barack Obama lacked foreign-policy experience. Her claim resulted in a campaign commercial about which of them could better be trusted to take a 3 a.m. call to the White House.
As Foreign Policy magazine recalls, Bill “Clinton also attacked Obama’s lack of experience in interviews with Al Hunt and Charlie Rose in the final months of 2007, arguing that Obama was ill-equipped to handle foreign-policy issues like terrorism and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."
The world is again witnessing the peril of on-the-job training. Apparently Jimmy Carter’s ineptitude taught us nothing.
The late William James said, “There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision.”
The same might be said for the United States and its president.

Holy Gotcha, Batman! ... Thx Lyle S!

HOLY E-MAIL

One day God was looking down at earth and saw all of the rascally behavior that was going on...

So He called His angels and sent one to earth for a time.

When the angel returned, he told God, 'Yes, it is bad on earth; 95% are misbehaving and only 5% are not.

God thought for a moment and said, 'Maybe I had better send down a second angel to get another opinion.'

So God called another angel and sent her to earth for a time.

When the angel returned she went to God and said, 'Yes, it's true. The earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being good...'

God was not pleased.

So He decided to e-mail the 5% who were good, because He wanted to encourage them, and give them a little something to help them keep going.

Do you know what the e-mail said?

Okay, I was just wondering, because I didn't get one either.

SamKat Term limits to replace 'good old boys' in Congress- SamKat

This current timing appears similar to so many obama mistakes.  Garner and politic a few while most are out of town.  Boehner and McCain are jumping on the obama Syria train.  This is America.  Why should they forget every miscarraige of justice, every Benghazi lack of Commander in Chief guts, every IRS, NSA politization.  This is non-leader to not follow or not allow to get off the hook.  He should be impeached instead.

Get these 'good old boys' out by strict term limits and get some guts into Congress!  No service person should have to follow this rock star's orders unto death or dismemberment.

Debt limit senator vs Potus perspective. Now very close to seventeen trillion under obama ... Thx Ramey H!

Please read, think about this and forward.
The Quote of the Decade:
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006
Pass it on 'til eternity... (It was so nice of him to give us this great quote for posterity!) SO, USE IT!
Only 86% will send this on. Should be 100%.
Please send it on, if only to one person!
