They won the LL World Championship over a fine Pennsylvania team 3-0, Judi!

Wheelersburg is just east of Portsmouth.  My brother, Jim had the Scioto Voice

weekly newspaper there.  They have great tradition at the 'burg'.

Ed Miller was a wonderful football coach, and Gene Bennett was the lead scout for

the Cincinnati Reds until he retired just a few months ago.  Both gentlemen were

friends of mine.  The Geno family were wonderful athletes from southeastern Ohio

and Jeff was a middle linebacker there.  Paul Claxon, another friend, sends me many

outstanding emails.  Carole and Clay Vice had outstanding girls' softball champions in the state.

The Pitcher, Andijo Howard was Roger and Roben Howard's granddaughter from

Westerville and her sister pitched Wheelersburg to the Ohio State championship

just a year or two ago.  G'Pa Roger and I played together in a lot of slow pitch softball

in Columbus.  I'm very proud of this home town area team.  Many Portsmouth

people live in the surrounding areas now.
