Members of the Portsmouth Breakfast Group wondered if one had been planned, and I emailed her a few weeks ago, asking about it. Dick and Joan had lived with their son, Tim and his wife in Austin, TX for the last few years after a stroke left Dick requiring help in walking and communicating for a while. They raised their family in their Marble Cliff home near Grandview. He had been in hospice a while before he passed 1/31/21 in Austin. Dick was on Halls of Fame for Tennis and Basketball at Miami of Ohio, Northam Tennis, signed his star on the Portsmouth floodwall, won Portsmouth High School's only singles tennis championship, was part of the US Navy's tennis doubles championship in the Far East, and was named a Portsmouth Ambassador. He was recognized as one of their finest athletes ever. Because he also played basketball for the AAU Akron U semi-pro basketball teams after graduating from Miami, he was known all over the state and the world or wherever he played any kind of ball. He called himself a 'meat and potatoes teaching pro' and was very well respected as a teaching pro. I neglected to catch the ≈ time of the event but ZI expect it will be nearly mid-day because Columbus is accessible from most parts of the state in just a couple of hours' drive. Please advise any of those who might have known Mr. Klitch, Joan, or any of the popular and successful family. Jeanie and I are so grateful to have shared many events with them, Sam Kegley 614-882-5991 or 614-632-9962 CP Reply Forward
