Happy Trails- Roy Rogers and Dale Evans

Jeanie had to have a Cat Scan this morning and I took the book Happy Trails with me to read. I began it at 9:30 this morning and finished it about 7:45 this evening. Roy and Dale were in their eighties when the book was published in 1994. They are each deceased now.

I have never been a fast reader, but I didn't have so many occasions to go back over paragraphs and I did take an hour nap and we spent a little while on our food I picked up from Wendy's.

I picked up the phone and called my good friend, Smokey Gibson. Smokey is in my "Excellence in Athletics in the Portsmouth Area" book.

Coach Gibson had fished with Roy Rogers' uncle Hono Sly in the Ohio River at Portsmouth. I shared with Smokey that I had lended the book to Bob and Sarah Lyles just before Bob's death a few years ago and his hospice nurse would read portions of it to him before he passed on.

Coach seemed glad I called. He is in his later eighties now, but sounds good. His wife, Alice, says he hasn't been really well due to a cold hanging on.

I will have more to say about the book later on,
but I will be retiring very soon now for the evening.

I have even more respect for the King of the Cowboys and his wife and their family. It is good that Roy shares membership in the unofficial Cultural Center of Our Universe.
