HEY SAM, THOSE WERE TWO DIFFERENT FAMILIES, THE ONE IN NEW BOSTON LIVED OUT HERE IN CLAY TOWNSHIP AND HIS SON REOPENED THE HOT DOG SHOP ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO AND THEN HIS WIFE GOT CANCER AND HE CLOSED IT DOWN. BOY THOSE WERE GOOD HOT DOGS ALSO. THE NICK IN NEW BOSTON WOULD LAY THOSE LITTLE HOT DOG AND BUNS UP HIS LEFT ARM AND DIP THE SAUCE ON THEM AND HIS ARMS WERE VERY HAIRY AND NO ONE THOUGHT ANY THING ABOUT IT, TODAY THEY WOULD CLOSE HIM DOWN FOR DOING THAT.

I WAS NEVER A CAMEO COWBOY, DIDN'T CARE MUCH ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE AROUND THERE. WE COUNTY BOYS ALWAYS HUNG OUT AT THE PLAYHOUSE, WHERE THEY HAD DUCK PINS IN THE BASEMENT, 6 POOL TABLES AND 1 SNOOKER TABLE UP AT THE FRONT. THAT WAS WHERE THE OLD PRO'S PLAYED. UP STAIRS THEY HAD A TICKER TAPE AND THAT WHERE ALL THE BIG TIME GAMBLING TOOK PLACE. WE PUNK KIDS WEREN'T ALLOWED UP THERE, AND THEY HAD THE BEST HOT DOGS THERE, BUT AT CONEY ISLAND UP BY THE EAGLES AN OLD GREEK CALLED NICK, " WHO WAS AN EXCELLENT BOWLER AND HAD A LOT OF TROPHIES IN HIS RESTAURANT " HAD THE BEST HOT DOGS IN PORTSMOUTH".

Clay, I and a couple of other friends had to spend after school time in PHS Men's Dean Elliott's office our senior year for sneaking out for those hot dogs at lunchtime and getting caught coming back to school.

No doubt he was related to the Greeks or Italians who served the great hot dogs in New Boston. Nick's (NB) sold a little-finger size hot dog for a nickel and made a small fortune in those days.

Sarah Rapp said her parents didn't allow her to go into the Cameo. I thought the upper clicked Portsmouth girls like Sarah would be mainstays.
