Jeanie and I were happily surprised this afternoon by family and good friends at Giamarco's Restaurant in Westerville. We had gone to Lexington last weekend for the Kentucky/Alabama basketball game. Our 60th anniversary was the 19th of January.
It truly was a surprise today after a similar celebration just ten short years ago for our 50th. With two sons, their wives and our three granddaughters and Jeff's two stepsons, we were overcome by the outpouring of love and friendship from each of them. So many other of Jeanie's family and other dear friends helped us celebrate.
When I was in Tokyo for an early anniversary, I had a Nesei friend, Sgt. Noboru Yamamoto, who would come in late at night from his musume's and wake me to pester me greatly in his inebriated condition. He would look at Jeanie's picture by my bunk and say: "How you get such a beautiful woman, boy? You lucky guy!" I was sleepy but 'Pops' was right. After all he was 28 while I was 20. And Jeanie, now a little older is even more beautiful than I recalled then while I was overseas.
Jay had earlier said they would wait until our 100th anniversary, but we're so happily surprised with our 60th celebration.
Thanks to all!
