Normandy- D-Day - Lest we forget ... Thx Ramey H!

POWERFUL See the figures etched in the sand at Normamdy

Now one can see why the ocean was red with blood. Interesting comment at the end about this being ignored by the press. Obama has not shown any interest in Normandy
until this year so no way is the press going to disappoint him by showing interest—except for a photo-op!.
Excellent history lesson
A large percentage of our country doesn't know about or care about Normandy. My guess is it has been removed from the text in History Books
A few weekends ago, British artists Jamie, accompanied by numerous volunteers, took to the beaches of Normandy with rakes and stencils in
hand to etch 9,000 silhouettes representing fallen people into the sand. Titled The Fallen 9000<http://thefallen9000.info/> , the piece is meant
as a stark visual reminder of those who died during the D-Day beach landings at Arromanches on June 6th, 1944 during WWII. The original team
consisted of 60 volunteers, but as word spread nearly 500 additional local residents arrived to help with the temporary installation that lasted only
a few hours before being washed away by the tide.

What is surprising to me is that I read or saw nothing about this here in the US.
An overseas friend sent it to me with a note of gratitude for what the US started there.
