All workers at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion plant were required to p[ass a security investigation. I believe that all government representatives should have the same requirements.
We may survive this guy, but he is currently Commander in Chief and probably the greatest threat to this country's security.

Subject: Great Quote
Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone over there has it figured out.
"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

Welcome to my blog http://www.skegley.blogspot.com/ . CAVEAT LECTOR- Let the reader beware. This is a Christian Conservative blog. It is not meant to offend anyone. Please feel free to ignore this blog, but also feel free to browse and comment on my posts! You may also scroll down to respond to any post.
For Christian American readers of this blog:
I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.
The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!
A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:
"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."
Thanks Jack!
I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Dr. Hovermale,
Didn't we learn in "Physics" class that work = force times distance ( W=FD)? It seems that the man had done no work. A ton of effort versus no movement means no work. Zero times infinity equals zero in mathematics.
In this parable, you would hope the man had something to put food on his table and to pay his rent. If He cares about the sparrows, surely He cares about man.
Nonetheless, our God is so wise and He does wish us to be obedient and Pray Until Something Happens.
I pray that our great country can move to eliminate Al Quaeda.
I know... I am thinking 'out of context'.

A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.
So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!
Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: (He will do it every time)!
You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved." Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.
Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough."
That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord.
"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"
The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done.
Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed.
But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard.
Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock."
At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him.
By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God Who moves the mountains.

Shadow War against al Qaeda
In Afghanistan, Middle East, Military, Politics, Religion, Stupidity, War, islam, thinking out loud on October 20, 2010 at 12:01 am
I disagree with waging this “Shadow War” against al Qaeda.
Announce to the world that it is our intention to destroy al Qaeda. They attacked our Nation. They declared War. We did not. This is the War desired by Osama bin Laden and his motley crue of Wahhabist thieves, cuthroats and murderers. They wanted it. They got it.
Announce that we will strike al Qaeda wherever they exist. Wherever they hide. In any hole. On any mountain. On any sea. In any place where al Qaeda deems it necessary to plant a parasitic, violent bud, we shall strike to root it out before it takes root.
Announce that if al Qaeda is allowed to plant operatives or to exist unmolested by the local populace, said populace will be accountable for the actions of al Qaeda and said population will be accountable for any and all deaths resulting from al Qaeda and their brothers and sisters. The fault lies with the folks who cooperate with al Qaeda.
Tell the NGOs and Humitarian Organizations of whatever stripe that we do no hold ourselves accountable for the deaths surrnouding al Qaeda. Whether it be bullets, cluster bombs or fragments of US munitions or suicide vests and IEDs from insurgents or al Qaeda operatives.
We did not want this war. Nevertheless, we have it. We intend to prosecute the war to it’s conclusion. The conclusion is the destruction of al Qaeda and it’s subordinate and parallel organizaations in whatever part of the world it may exist.
After that announcement is made, we, The United States of America, should bomb the Nejd and every place sacred to the Wahhabis. We should invade Saudi Arabia and hold Mekkah hostage all the while allowing the Hajj to continue unmolested. Circulate rumours that we have planted a nuclear device under the Ka’aba along with the intent to detonate said device should a strike occur on US soil.
Also, we should pull out all military resources that protect or support or otherwise maintains the power of any Islamic despot. From Cairo to Iraq and Afghanistan. Tell the people of the Islamic World that their governance is now up to them. If they show that they are worthy and willing to fight for Democracy and their share of the delights of Liberty and Freedom that we will at a time, deemed opportune to us, intercede on their behalf. We will support no country that has as a defining point in their National Statement or
beliefs the destruction of Israel or any other Democracy. Period. We will support no Nation that has as part of it’s Constitiution
Immediately halt all support for Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq until they actually come on line with a WESTERN AGENDA as opposed to an Islamist agenda. I would like to end all support of Islamic Countries period. I would include the protection of their shipping on the sea lanes. Let Iran fight it out with the Sunnis and afterward step in to pick up the pieces. These parties would slaughter each other. The West should precipitate such a crisis and then step in and pick up the pieces after they’ve murdered 2/3rds of each others populations.
Shariah Law. We will support no Nation which has as part of it’s national belief system the enslavement or disenfranchisement of minorities or women.
After this, we strike out at al Qaeda wherever they surface. If locals are killed. It is their fault for not having rooted out al Qaeda or for having allowed al Qaeda to plant roots.
Eventually, they’ll get the message. If al Qaeda is there, missiles will rain down in holy terror. If no al Qaeda is there, no missiles will arrinve.
We must halt our support of terrorising despots. We must support freedom and liberty. We must defeat al Qaeda.
As of now, we are losing this war. Especially when we allow them to plant their seeds of terror in our own front yard.

This may not be politically correct, but I think it is funny.....
Near Angola IN, where there is a German-heritage Amish population, a farmer walking down a country road noticed a stranger drinking from his pond with his hand.
The farmer shouted: "Trink das wasser nicht. Die kuhen haben dahin gesheissen." (Which means: "Don't drink the water, the cows have pooped in it.")
The man shouted back: "I'm from New York , and just down here campaigning for Obama's health care plan. I can't understand you. Please speak in English."
The farmer replied: "Use two hands, you'll get more water."

While watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I watched a church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior pastors who had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age.
After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium. Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak.....
"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50-odd years of preaching. I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me... The only thing that would comfort was this verse......... .. .
"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
We are weak but He is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me.....
The Bible tells me so."
When he finished, the church was quiet.. You actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. I don't believe I will ever forget it.
A pastor once stated, "I always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."
"Senior version of Jesus Loves Me"
Here is a new version just for us who have white hair or no hair at all. For us over middle age (or even those almost there) and all you others, check out this newest version of Jesus Loves M e
JESUS LOVES ME
Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME..
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song..
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near.."
(CHORUS)
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
(CHORUS )
If you think this is neat, please pass it on to your friends. If you do not pass it on, nothing bad will happen, but you will have missed an opportunity to "reach out and touch" a friend or a loved one.
God Bless Us All!!

China Wrests Supercomputer Title From U.S.
By ASHLEE VANCE
NY Times
Published: October 28, 2010
A Chinese scientific research center has built the fastest supercomputer ever made, replacing the United States as maker of the swiftest machine, and giving China bragging rights as a technology superpower.

Nvidia
The Tianhe-1A computer in Tianjin, China, links thousands upon thousands of chips.
The computer, known as Tianhe-1A, has 1.4 times the horsepower of the current top computer, which is at a national laboratory in Tennessee, as measured by the standard test used to gauge how well the systems handle mathematical calculations, said Jack Dongarra, a University of Tennessee computer scientist who maintains the official supercomputer rankings.
Although the official list of the top 500 fastest machines, which comes out every six months, is not due to be completed by Mr. Dongarra until next week, he said the Chinese computer “blows away the existing No. 1 machine.” He added, “We don’t close the books until Nov. 1, but I would say it is unlikely we will see a system that is faster.”
Officials from the Chinese research center, the National University of Defense Technology, are expected to reveal the computer’s performance on Thursday at a conference in Beijing. The center says it is “under the dual supervision of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Education.”
The race to build the fastest supercomputer has become a source of national pride as these machines are valued for their ability to solve problems critical to national interests in areas like defense, energy, finance and science. Supercomputing technology also finds its way into mainstream business; oil and gas companies use it to find reservoirs and Wall Street traders use it for superquick automated trades. Procter & Gamble even uses supercomputers to make sure that Pringles go into cans without breaking.
And typically, research centers with large supercomputers are magnets for top scientific talent, adding significance to the presence of the machines well beyond just cranking through calculations.
Over the last decade, the Chinese have inched steadily up in the rankings of supercomputers. Tianhe-1A stands as the culmination of billions of dollars in investment and scientific development, as China has gone from a computing afterthought to a world technology superpower.
“What is scary about this is that the U.S. dominance in high-performance computing is at risk,” said Wu-chun Feng, a supercomputing expert and professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. “One could argue that this hits the foundation of our economic future.”
Modern supercomputers are built by combining thousands of small computer servers and using software to turn them into a single entity. In that sense, any organization with enough money and expertise can buy what amount to off-the-shelf components and create a fast machine.
The Chinese system follows that model by linking thousands upon thousands of chips made by the American companies Intel and Nvidia. But the secret sauce behind the system — and the technological achievement — is the interconnect, or networking technology, developed by Chinese researchers that shuttles data back and forth across the smaller computers at breakneck rates, Mr. Dongarra said.
“That technology was built by them,” Mr. Dongarra said. “They are taking supercomputing very seriously and making a deep commitment.”
The Chinese interconnect can handle data at about twice the speed of a common interconnect called InfiniBand used in many supercomputers.
For decades, the United States has developed most of the underlying technology that goes into the massive supercomputers and has built the largest, fastest machines at research laboratories and universities. Some of the top systems simulate the effects of nuclear weapons, while others predict the weather and aid in energy research.
In 2002, the United States lost its crown as supercomputing kingpin for the first time in stunning fashion when Japan unveiled a machine with more horsepower than the top 20 American computers combined. The United States government responded in kind, forming groups to plot a comeback and pouring money into supercomputing projects. The United States regained its leadership status in 2004, and has kept it, until now.
At the computing conference on Thursday in China, the researchers will discuss how they are using the new system for scientific research in fields like astrophysics and bio-molecular modeling. Tianhe-1A, which is housed in a building at the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin, can perform mathematical operations about 29 million times faster than one of the earliest supercomputers, built in 1976.
For the record, it performs 2.5 times 10 to the 15th power mathematical operations per second.
Mr. Dongarra said a long-running Chinese project to build chips to rival those from Intel and others remained under way and looked promising. “It’s not quite there yet, but it will be in a year or two,” he said.
He also said that in November, when the list comes out, he expected a second Chinese computer to be in the top five, culminating years of investment.
“The Japanese came out of nowhere and caught people off guard,” Mr. Feng said. “With China, you could see this one coming.”
Steven J. Wallach, a well-known computer designer, played down the importance of taking the top spot on the supercomputer rankings.
“It’s interesting, but it’s like getting to the four-minute mile,” Mr. Wallach said. “The world didn’t stop. This is just a snapshot in time.”
The research labs often spend weeks tuning their systems to perform well on the standard horsepower test. But just because a system can hammer through trillions of calculations per second does not mean it will do well on the specialized jobs that researchers want to use it for, Mr. Wallach added.
The United States has plans in place to make much faster machines out of proprietary components and to advance the software used by these systems so that they are easy for researchers to use. But those computers remain years away, and for now, China is king.
“They want to show they are No. 1 in the world, no matter what it is,” Mr. Wallach said. “I don’t blame them.”

China Wrests Supercomputer Title From U.S.

A Chinese scientific research center has built the fastest supercomputer ever made, replacing the United States as maker of the swiftest machine, and giving China bragging rights as a technology superpower.

Hard times for bin... Thanks to a good friend!
The Times of London, 10/04/2010
Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife.
Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so far failed to produce an agreement. The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by 25% this February, from 72 to only 60.
The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the afterlife.
The suicide bomber's union, the British Organization of
Occupational Martyrs (BOOM) responded with a statement that this was unacceptable to its members
and immediately balloted for strike action.
General Secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of Jihad.
Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands , in which he currently resides, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained,
"We sympathize with our workers concerns, but Al Qaeda is not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day Jihad in a competitive marketplace.
Thanks to Western depravity there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife.
It's a straight choice between reducing expenditure and laying people off.
I don't like cutting wages but I'd hate to have to tell 3,000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow themselves up."
Spokespersons for the Union in the north east of England , Ireland , Wales , and the entire North American and Australian continents stated that the strike would not affect their operations, as "there are no virgins in their areas anyway."
Apparently the drop in the number of suicide bombings has been put down to the emergence of Scottish singing star Susan Boyle - now that Muslims know what an actual virgin looks like they are not so keen on going to paradise.

Subject: H. R. 4646 you must read Bill to pass nlt Dec 23, 2010
just Google "HR 4646" ~ you can confirm and it is no exaggeration.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
H. R. 4646 I have gone into THOMAS (Library of Congress) and printed out and read all 15 pages of this bill which has been given the "Short Title" of "Debt Free America Act." It is the most socialistic thing I have ever read. Just think, if you deposit $5,000.00 into your checking account or savings account the bank has to take out 1% or $50.00 of that money and send it to Washington . Then, any checks or cash you take out of your bank they will deduct 1% from what is still in the bank and send it to Washington . Total put in the Bank $5,000.00. $100.00 of that you give to Washington .
This bill, spells it out that everyone will pay the Government 1% of their gross income. Page 9 states the House and Senate shall convene not later than November 23, 2010 and Page 11 states the vote on passage shall occur not later than December 23, 2010.
SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO CONTACT THEIR CONGRESSMAN AND SENATOR AND TELL THEM
TO VOTE NO ON THIS BILL.
If you don't know who your Congressman or Senator is, go to Google, type in "(your state) Congressman email address". When it comes up, click on "Complete E-mail address for Congress/House,
Senate, Governors and get both e-mail and FAX info.
The bill is HR-4646 introduced by US Rep Peter DeFazio D-Oregon and US Senator Tom Harkin D-Iowa. It is now in committee and will probably not be brought out until after the Nov. elections. Suggest that you pass this along and also to your state senator and representative and US congressman and Senators.
One percent transaction tax is proposed President Obama's finance team is recommending a transaction tax. His plan is to sneak it in after the November election to keep it under the radar. This is a 1% tax on all transactions at any financial institution i. e. Banks, Credit Unions, etc.. Any deposit you make, or move around within your account, i. e. transfer to, will have a 1% tax charged. If your pay check or your social Security or whatever is direct deposit, 1% tax charged. If you hand carry a check in to deposit, 1% tax charged, If you take cash in to deposit, 1% tax charged. This is from the man who promised that if you make under $250,000 per year, you will not see one penny of new tax. Keep your eyes and ears open, you will be amazed at what you learn. Some will say aw it's just 1%... remember once the tax is there they can raise it at will.
Rep. Chaka Fattah [D-PA2] is the sponsor
2/23/2010--Introduced.
Debt Free America Act - States as purposes of this Act the raising of sufficient revenue from a fee on transactions to eliminate the national debt within seven years and the phasing out of the individual income tax. Amends the Internal Revenue Code to impose a 1% fee, offset by a corresponding non-refundable income tax credit, on transactions that use a payment instrument, including any check, cash, credit card, transfer of stock, bonds, or other financial instrument. Defines "transaction" to include retail and wholesale sales, purchases of intermediate goods, and financial and intangible transactions. Establishes in the legislative branch the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action to review the fiscal imbalance of the federal government and make recommendations to improve such imbalance. Provides for expedited consideration by Congress of Task Force recommendations. Repeals after 2017 the individual income tax, refundable and nonrefundable personal tax credits, and the alternative minimum tax (AMT) on individuals. Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to: (1) prioritize the repayment of the national debt to protect the fiscal stability of the United States ; and (2) study and report to Congress on the implementation of this Act.

About those 'rescued' Chilean miners... Thanks friend, Judi Cole for email

Subject: Christian Alliance Devotional-have you noticed the miners' t-shirts?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was the huge photograph on the front page of today’s edition of The Telegraph, showing rescued miner Mario Sepulveda. As I glanced at it, something looked very familiar... not just the word “Jesus” on the sleeve of his t-shirt but the font. Upon looking closer I saw all the words “The Jesus Film Project”.
It seems the national ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in Chile provided each of the miners with a pale yellow t-shirt to wear for their appearance on the surface. And that wasn’t all. In the early days of the rescue drilling, 33 MP3 players were sent down to the miners, containing the audio version of the JESUS film and an ample portion of the Bible.
One of the miners, Jose Samuel, sent a letter up the Dove (long, narrow metal canister that shuttled supplies and correspondence) to the CCC national director. Here is a portion of his words:
"I want to express my appreciation for this great blessing for me and my co-workers, it will be very good for our edification" (He is talking about the MP3's of the Bible & Jesus film)
"I am well because Christ lives in me"
"We have prayer services at 12 a.m. and 6 p.m."
"I ask all of you for pray not only for us here, but for all the lost people in the world"
This has been a remarkable story with God getting much more than an occasional mention! Three of those miners were evangelical Christians and I’m sure many others were God-fearers and may well have given their lives to Christ during their ordeal through the witness of these three brothers in Christ.
Back to the t-shirts... Printed on the front was the Chilean national flag and the words Thank you Lord in English and Spanish. On the other sleeve was the CCC Int’l logo and the name of our ministry in Chile. (Here is a picture of the oldest miner, Mario Gomez, praying upon his exit from the capsule.)
Our national director has asked us to pray for the salvation of all the miners, that they might acknowledge the one who has rescued them from sin and judgment, even as they continue to be so thankful for their deliverance from certain physical death.
It is such a privilege for Donna and me to serve alongside our 25,000 missionary colleagues – creative people like our national director in Chile who found a way to bring the JESUS film and the Bible to the ears of the trapped miners. Share this email with friends to encourage them with the fact God is able to get his Good News anywhere on earth and under it, as well!
I’ll conclude with the Bible verse Jose Samuel sent up the tube during his ordeal underground:
"In his hand are the depths of the earth, and mountain peaks belong to him." (Psalm 95:4)

Value in emails from friends? Yes!
I needed this powerful message in my life right now. I haven't faced the horrible death these miners might well have suffered without the ingenuity, faithfulness and prayers of all who earnestly gave their best to rescue them through the 'dove' and the eventual safety tunnel.
A close friend told me recently that I used to be a wonderful man, but I have recently, in my old age, became a grouch. That friend also said that perhaps she has become a bitch in her old age. That struck me right in the psyche (as a kick in the groin might have). I have considered myself a Christian Conservative and that is what I want to portray with my life and in my blog.
I anticipated a weekend of gratefulness as I toured the construction to replace the World Trade Center in NYC Friday. My day in the city was not all enjoyable, except for a new friend and a bona fide New Yorker just made in recent years, Jim Agostine. He took me on a walking tour through the area. I earnestly prayed for our world's people, as I looked over the scenes. Otherwise the walk later down Broadway, past Wall Street's Bull, to the Staten Island Fairy with my long lasting planar faciatis in my left foot; the windy cold ride over and back from Staten Island; and getting utterly lost on the NYC subway system drained much of my anticipated joy. This soon to be 78 year old man was very exhausted. I found a seat in the basement floor of Rockefeller and watched ice skaters out the large windows while in a frustrated state of mind. The Fun Bus back home picked us up at the Center a few hours later.
Some 'tough looking, jive talking" black subway dwellers showed me some mercy and a black lady of around fifty took me across the street to a different subway and sent me on my way to a seven stop ride to Rockefeller Center in Manhattan from the Brooklyn suburb I had found myself in. I weakly thanked them and gave the young lady a dollar, she reluctantly took. I had been through twenty or more stops in my confusion, but I was also grateful for the $8.25 day pass I bought from our Fun Bus tour guide Rebecca, which allowed me to exit and enter the subway so many times.
I, as all Christians do, want to portray Christ in my life. I fervently believe that Jesus would have not become a grouch if he had spent more than his 33 years on earth. His stories gave us only one instance of anger as he chased the money changers from the Temple grounds. He was a consistently wise and gentle human being who happened to be Son of our Holy Father and who genuinely showed His wonderful love to all people.
I thank all of the miners and their faithfulness and the faithfulness of those who moved to achieving their physical and spiritual salvation. Would that all people of different faiths could appreciate the miners' story at this time. Christian- 'like Christ'? I wonder about me but I want to be more like Him.
Thanks again, friend.

Remember January 3rd 2007... Thanks Dr. Hovermale!
Every voter should read this:
Remember January 3rd 2007…………
Just to set the record straight:
The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009,
it was actually January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the
House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress.
The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time
since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that
everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:
January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
At the time:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of
JOB CREATION!
Remember the day...
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial
Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the
economy?
BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!!!
THANK YOU DEMOCRATS for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment...
to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans
on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCO'S! ( And Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy).
And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac????
OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie???
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress
So when some one tries to blame Bush...
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!" Bush may have been
in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving.
Set the record straight on Bush!

Blaine and his Portsmouth OH reminiscing... Thanks young Mr. Bierley!
No, Blaine, but thanks for doing it now. I don't think you will mind if I include it in my SamKat blog today- www.skegley.blogspot.com.
I turned 75 on November 13, 2007, five years ahead of you. My good friend, Ronnie Walters (PHS 51) will be 77, this year, just a year younger than me. I mention Ronnie for two reasons; 1- his birthday coming up, and 2- in a recent reminiscence of mine of all of our friends up and down and near McConnell Ave. and Vinton, I forgot to mention him and, as one of my best friends, I never ever should have forgotten to mention Ronnie.
I share so much of your things and, of course, we both shared the "Cultral Center of Our Universe- Portsmouth, Ohio. Now, that is culture if Tom Sawyer ever had any, isn't it?
You are good, Blaine and I always appreciate you and your writing!

“A Bit of Reflection”
There are those landmarks in your life. I think I have a pretty good grasp of what they are. I believe they are when you start elementary school, when you become a teenager, when you go on your first date, when you graduate from high school, when you get your first “real” job, when you get married, when your first child is born, and, perhaps, the ultimate, when you turn 70.
I hit that one on December 30, 2007. I had been retired for twelve years at that point in my life. I have lived in eight decades and in two different centuries. I believe I was born at just about the perfect time. One of my earliest memories is listening to the radio. I grew up listening to shows like “Amos ‘n’ Andy”, “Duffy’s Tavern”, “Edgar Bergan and Charlie McCarthy”, “Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons”, “Smilin’ Ed’s Buster Brown Gang”, and “Suspense.” I believe I developed my imagination during those years. The first TV set I ever saw was at a neighbor’s house. The screen was small, and the station in Huntington, West Virginia, was only on a few hours a day. The kids in the neighborhood would gather together to watch first the Test Pattern and then enjoy the likes of “Howdy Doody” and “Space Cadets”.
The best part of those times was playing with friends in the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School neighborhood. We would play baseball at the park down at Labold Field in the spring and summer and switch to tackle football in the fall. We also enjoyed flying kites, riding our bicycles, and fishing in the Ohio River. Good old Boy Scout Troop 22 at the First Nazarene Church on Brown Street provided a great education for a young boy.
I was 13 when I got my first “real” job. I helped Jake Lovenguth, our Ideal Milk Company route man, deliver milk (in glass bottles) on Saturdays over across the U. S. Grant Bridge in South Portsmouth and Greenup, Kentucky.
Some of my favorite places were: the Maple Grove Confectionery, down at the end of Jackson Avenue where it intersects with Offner Street, where you could get a great sno cone in the summertime for only a dime. Mr. Book’s store (“As you go by, don’t go by, stop by and buy”) on Jackson Avenue, which had a huge selection of comic books on a big wall rack. Mr. and Mrs. Bard’s little store at the intersection of Charles and Brown Streets, where people bought their candy, cigarettes, and the Sunday News. It was the drop off spot for the Portsmouth Times’ route in our neighborhood of Charles and Williams Streets and Jackson Avenue. There was also the C & Bi (“See & Buy”) Shoppe on Jackson Avenue where you could get a fountain Coke and the representative from the Duncan Yo Yo Company would carve your initials in the yo yo if you bought one there.
Most any white kid growing up in Portsmouth in the early 1950s would happily remember the Terrace Club below the Kendall Avenue hill, where you could swim all day for a quarter or so. On our way home from the swimming pool, before we walked over the Harmon Street Viaduct, we would stop at Bill Ginnetti’s Blue Pig Inn on Gallia Street for a frozen mug of wonderful A & W root beer for only a nickel.
It would be impossible not to remember the great downtown Portsmouth movie theaters of our era, all on Gallia Street, that influenced our growing up: the Lyric, the Columbia, and the LaRoy. They had wonderful Saturday matinees with both popcorn and movie candy available to eat.
I went to Wilson School for eight years. I walked to and from school four times a day, every day. We played on a boy/girl segregated black-topped playground, and the supervising teacher rang a large hand-held bell when it was time for us to come in from recess. We had great teachers at Wilson. Our principal, R. J. Brooker, brooked no nonsense when it came to discipline at the school, and he was also a great science teacher.
Looking back at spending four years at Portsmouth High School (I graduated in 1955) forces me to admit that it was an exceptional school. We had, for the most part, dedicated faculty and administrators, intelligent students, exceptional athletes, and a supporting community. To this day, I count myself fortunate to have attended PHS.

This is a very important twist to a very old story, Marge, and don't we both know how important it is to select the right thing.

Between heaven & hell
While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."
"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.
"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."
"Really?, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.
"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.
They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven...”
So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."
The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell...
Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls to the ground.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.
"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"
The devil smiles at him and says,
"Yesterday we were campaigning, Today, you voted.."
Vote wisely on November 2, 2010
MORE IMPORTANTLY THAN VOTING FOR THE ELECTION (WHICH IS IMPORTANT) IS REALIZING AND THINKING ABOUT WHERE YOU WILL ACTUALLY SPEND ETERNITY!
Is God calling you? Are you willing to follow Him? Don't ignore His call!

The Wooden Bowl... Thanks Patricia Richards Whitehead (PHS 50)
This great recycle is one of my very favorites. A few years ago, soon after our young granddaughter, Tobey, saw it she sent me a sweet email saying, among other loving things: "Grandpa, You will never have to use a wooden bowl. I will take care of you." None of us want our kids to take care of us as we age, although I can remember many households when I grew up where older parents were living with their offspring and it seemed to work out well. The oldsters were just important members of the family.
My mother's mother, Mary Clark, widow to Abraham Clark, lived with us for several years before she died and I remember her as one of the sweetest people in this world. She neither ever scolded me nor my siblings. I know where my mother, Mary, got her sweetness.
Thanks Pat!

The Wooden Bowl
The Wooden Bowl
I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.
A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered
The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and
failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.
When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.
The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about father,' said the son.
'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor..'
So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.
Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.
When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.
Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.
The four-year-old watched it all in silence.
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.
He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded,
'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.
' The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.
The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done..
That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table.
For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family... And for some reason,
neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.
My mother's mother, Mary Clark, widow to Abraham Clark, lived with us for several years before she died and I remember her as one of the sweetest people in this world. She neither ever scolded me nor my siblings. I know where my mother, Mary, got her sweetness.

Chile Mine Rescue- An American hero hardly mentioned by our national media.
The rest of the story! What the national media hasn't mentioned. The technical aspects of the rescue were an All-American operation. See last paragraph!
Mine Rescue - American Hero
Regarding the mine rescue, did you know:
The guy that designed the rescue module was a NASA Engineer?
The Drill was made by Schramm Inc. from Pennsylvania.
The Drill Bits were made by Center Rock, Inc. located in Berlin, Pennsylvania.
The lead driller Jeff Hart and his team are from Denver, Colorado. They are on loan from the US Military in Afghanistan where they are drilling water wells for our Forward Operating Bases.
He spent the next 33 days on his feet, operating the drill that finally provided a way out Saturday for 33 trapped miners. "You have to feel through your feet what the drill is doing; it's a vibration you get so that you know what's happening," explained Hart.
Hart was called in from Afghanistan, "simply because he's the best" at drilling larger holes with the T130's wide-diameter drill bits, Stefanic said.
Standing before the levers, pressure meters and gauges on the T130's control panel, Hart and the rest of the team faced many challenges in drilling the shaft. At one point, the drill struck a metal support beam in the poorly mapped mine, shattering its hammers. Fresh equipment had to be flown in from the United States and progress was delayed for days as powerful magnets were lowered to pull out the pieces.
The mine's veins of gold and copper ran through quartzite with a high level of abrasive silica, rock so tough that it took all their expertise to keep the drill's hammers from curving off in unwanted directions. "It was horrible," said Center Rock President Brandon Fisher, exhausted after hardly sleeping during the effort. Fisher, Stefanic and Hart called it the most difficult hole they had ever drilled, because of the lives at stake.
"If you're drilling for oil and you lose the hole, it's different. This time there's people down below," Stefanic said.
"We ruined some bits, worked through the problems as a team, and broke through," Hart said. "I'm very happy now."
Miners' relatives crowded around Hart on Saturday, hugging and posing for pictures with him as he walked down from the rescue operation into the tent camp where families had anxiously followed his work.
"He's become the hero of the day," said Dayana Olivares, whose friend Carlos Bugueno is one of the miners stuck below.
In a different day and age, Jeff Hart would be the most famous American in our country right now. He would be honored at the White House. Schoolchildren would learn of his skill and heroism. But because Jeff Hart works in an industry currently being demonized by (insert name for the clowns currently running our country) more people in Chile will celebrate this symbol of American greatness than in America itself.
- Michelle Malkin
Still we join the Chileans in Chi! Chi! Chi! Le'! Le'! Le'! They hung in with the rescue!

Still we join the Chileans in Chi! Chi! Chi! Le'! Le'! Le'! They hung in with the rescue!

John 3:16 This is so beautiful! Thanks Carol and Cl;ay Vice!
May God continue to bless our friends, Carol and Clay Vice. Thanks for the wonderful re-cycle. Would it be that we could each recycle in this life. With John 3:16, I believe it is possible.

This is so beautiful!!!
John 3:16
A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner,
the people were in and out of the cold.
The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell
many papers.
He walked up to a policeman and said,
"Mister,
you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could
find a warm place to sleep tonight would you?
You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and
down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight.
Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."
The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You
go down the street to that big white house and you knock
on the door. When they come out the door you just say
John 3:16, and they will let you in."
So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the
door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said,
"John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son."
She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom
rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went
off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself:
John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes
a cold boy warm.
Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry ?"
He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of
days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,"
The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table
full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat
any more. Then he thought to himself:
John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure
makes a hungry boy full.
She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub
filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a
while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16 ....
I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy
clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my
whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in
front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.
The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room,
tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers
up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out
the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the
window at the snow coming down on that cold night,
he thought to himself: John 3:16 ....I don't understand it but
it sure makes a tired boy rested.
The next morning the lady came back up and took him
down again to that same big table full of food. After he
ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom
rocker in front of the fireplace and
picked up a big old Bible.
She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.
"Do you understand John 3:16 ?" she asked gently. He
replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it
was last night when the policeman told me to use it,"
She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain
to him about Jesus . Right there, in front of that big old fireplace,
he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there
and thought: John 3:16 -- don't understand it, but it sure
makes a lost boy feel safe.
You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either,
how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how
Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand
the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as
they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense
love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end.
I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.
I do Love God . He is my source of existence.. He keeps
me functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13
Take 60 seconds & give this a shot !
Let's just see if Satan stops this one.
All you do is:
1) Simply say a small prayer for the person who sent you this,
"Father, God bless this person in whatever it is that You know
he or she may be needing this day
In Jesus Name
Amen !"
2) Then send it on to ten other people.
Within hours ten people have prayed for you,
and you caused a multitude of people to pray to God for
other people. Then watch the power of God
work in your life for doing the thing that you know He loves.

SS Checks... Thanks
Subject: SS checks
To: Banchy
READ THIS ABOUT OUR SS CHECKS
We need to keep this fresh in everyone's mind till Nov. The Obama crew thinks we will forget about it by Nov. Let's prove them wrong.
*THIS IS THE ONE THAT WILL FLIP YOU OUT!!** **
THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION IS FUNDING TWENTY FOUR MILLION DOLLARS--LET ME REPEAT THAT AMOUNT...*
SO YOU UNDERSTAND IT $ 24,000,000.00 DOLLARS FOR NEW ELECTRONIC MEDICAL
RECORDS PROCESSING FOR OUR CONGRESSMEN** AND SENATORS !!**
THEY ARE OBTAINING THESE FUNDS*
*And*
I QUOTE DIRECTLY FROM THE SOCIAL SECURITY WEBSITE...
"THIS MONEY WILL BE COMING FROM THE SAVINGS TO BE GENERATED FROM WITHHOLDING "COST OF LIVING INCREASES FOR 2010 & 2011 In SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS FOR THE ELDERLY AND A $2.00 INCREASE ON ALL MEDICARE RX BENEFIT CO-PAY"
Please pass this to ALL your friends and have them
"PROTEST TO THE IDIOTS WE ELECTED TO CONGRESS"
Who by the way, have just voted themselves ANOTHER 3% SALARY INCREASE!!!
We must put a stop to this outright thievery!
It is THE CONGRESS AND THE SENATE, BOTH REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATS, WE CAN'T FIRE THEM, BUT WE SURE CAN NOT RE-ELECT THEM, And WE CAN IMPEACH THEM* Or DEMAND RECALL ELECTIONS !!!
HOW ABOUT WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND DUMP THESE CLOWNS.
All I ask is that you consider the suggestion here. The entire Congress of the United States is corrupt. And I mean both Houses and I mean both major parties. I realize that a few Members of each House are trustworthy,*
But, As a group they are absolutely the most corrupt bunch To ever disgrace our Nation.
In November of 2010 The entire House of Representatives will stand for re-election; All 435 of them.
One third of the Senate, A total of 33 of them, will also stand for re-election.
Vote every incumbent out. And I mean every one of them.
No matter their Party affiliation.
Let's start all over in the House of Representatives with 435 people Who have absolutely no experience in running that body, With no political favors owed to anyone but their own constituents.
Let's make them understand that they work for us... They are answerable to us And they simply have to run that body with some common sense.
Two years later, in 2012, Vote the next third of the incumbents in the Senate out. We can do the same thing in 2014 and, By that time we will have put all new people in that body as well.
We, the People, Have got to take this Country back and we have to do it peacefully. That's what the Framers of our Constitution envisioned.

Conservative groundswell unmistakable
Conservative groundswell unmistakable
Chris Woodward - OneNewsNow - 10/19/2010 3:50:00 AMMid-term elections are only two weeks away, and as conservatives continuously gain support, it appears they are on their way to winning back control in Congress.
Family Research Council (FRC) resident Tony Perkins calls the upcoming election "historic" and says he remains optimistic when he considers the poll numbers reported from across the country.
"The groundswell of support for conservative candidates continues to grow," he accounts. "Sharon Angle in Nevada, taking on Harry Reid, raised $14 million in this last quarter in her campaign. Michelle Bachmann in Minnesota, [whom] Nancy Pelosi has targeted, she raised...[about] $6 million -- a record for a member of Congress."
While he does believe the GOP can win more seats in the Senate, the FRC president thinks Republicans will most likely end up only taking the majority in the House. Even so, he advises conservatives to keep fighting.
"It's got to push on through and continue over the next 18, 24, 36 months to ensure, number one, that those we elect, who are conservatives replacing those moderates and liberals, will govern according to the promises made on the campaign trail," Perkins urges. "And secondly, [we have] to back them up...strengthen them, encourage them and change the culture in Washington, D.C. back to a conservative constitutional-based government."
These comments were made recently on American Family Radio's Today's Issues program.

Having a bad day... No Clay, just a little slow getting started

Subject: Fw: Having a bad day
think of this guy:
Things Got Ya Down? Well Then, Consider These .. . ..
In a hospital's Intensive Care Unit, patients always died in the same bed,
on Sunday morning, at about 11:00 am , regardless of their medical condition.
This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had something to do with the super natural.
No one could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11:00 AM Sunday,
so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to investigate the cause of the incidents.
The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11:00 AM all of the doctors and nurses
nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about.
Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer books, and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits.
Just when the clock struck 11:00, Pookie Johnson , the part-time Sunday sweeper,
entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so he could use the vacuum cleaner.
Still Having a Bad Day?
The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez Oil spill in Alaska was $80,000.00.
At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were being
released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers.
A minute later, in full view, a killer whale ate them both.
Still think you are having a Bad Day?
A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen shaking frantically,
almost in a dancing frenzy, with some kind of wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle.
Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood,
breaking his arm in two places. Up to that moment, he had been happily listening to his Walkman.
Are Ya OK Now? - No?
Two animal rights defenders were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn , Germany .
Suddenly, all two thousand pigs broke loose and escaped through a broken fence, stampeding madly.
The two helpless protesters were trampled to death.
What? STILL having a Bad Day?
Iraqi terrorist Khay Rahnajet didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb.
It came back with 'Return to Sender' stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb;
he opened it and was blown to bits. God is Good!

NYC Lower Manhattan District and Ground Zero
I will be touring lower Manhattan and ground Zero Friday the 22nd of October.
The Ground Zero Mosque is a travesty of the most profound and grotesque sort. Here is a result of a survey I participated in. I was heavily on the side of the lop-sided majority of poll voters.

The Ground Zero Mosque is a travesty of the most profound and grotesque sort. Here is a result of a survey I participated in. I was heavily on the side of the lop-sided majority of poll voters.

Six Truths in Life
1. You cannot stick your tongue out and look up at the ceiling at the same time, a physical impossibility.
2. All idiots, after reading #1 will try it.
3. And discover #1 is a lie.
4. You are smiling now because you are an idiot.
5. You soon will forward this to another idiot.
6. There is still a stupid smile on your face .
I sincerely apologize about this but I'm an idiot and I needed company. You now have 2 options...delete it, or send it along to put a smile on someone's face today.

Teachers College and My friend Mimi Brodsky Chenfeld- Sam Kegley
Day One… The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project 16th Annual July Institute on the Teaching of Reading: Teach Me in the Key of Life July 6, 2009

Whew! What a great day! I am now sitting in my very dorm-y dorm room. Two major differences from when I was last living in an dorm room: A-it’s much nicer with AC and my own bathroom (although the mattress had me wishing for a hotel last night), and B-I’m drinking a beer while doing my homework (or avoiding it I guess by typing this).
This is the largest TC Institute with people from 24 countries including Sweden, China (Shanghai, specifically), Iceland, India, and Kuwait; 38 states; and includes 90 principals, 6 superintendents and a total of 1374 participants! Wow!
The day started with a Keynote by Maurice Sykes (Executive Director of Early Childhood Leadership Institute titled “The Courage to Teach the Joy of Teaching”. He was a FANTASTIC speaker and started with a poem by Mimi Chenfeld (from Columbus, OH!)
Teach Me in the Key of Life
by Mimi Brodsky Chenfeld
I am waiting for you
I have been waiting all my life
to spend this time
with you.
I am full of questions, adventures, wonder, curiousity,
imagination.
I am full of fears, doubts, confusions, nightmares, dreams.
I am the Cowardly Lion. I need a badge for courage.
So do you.
I am the Tin Man. So tight. I forgot about my heart.
How’s your heart?
I am the Scarecrow. Hangin’ so loose my brain feels unhinged.
Does yours?
Sometimes I’m
GrumpySleepyDopeyBashfulDocSneezyHappy.
Sometimes I’m seven new dwarfs as yet unnamed.
I love to sing.
I know the words to 2,437 songs.
Teach me through songs.
Let me paint, doodle, scribble, draw, carve, fix, sketch – DO.
I can’t keep still.
I’m a spaced-out, far-out, Star Wars, Superman IV, rock ‘n’ roll, disco,
punk, psychedelic, tuned-out, right-on, cool age,
electronic, stereo, video games, computerized, technicolor, ten-speed kid!
I need action!
Keep it moving!
I love to read baseball cards, album covers, TV schedules, movie ads,
license plates, T-shirts, buttons, posters, cartoons, cereal boxes,
recipes, highway signs, historical markers, magazines, picture books,
sad stories, weird poems, animal histories, lost-and-found boards…
Let me ask my questions – even if you don’t know the answers.
Dumb questions, like who started numbers?
Do caterpillars know they’re going to turn into butterflies?
Where does the white go when the snow melts?
Why does time fly?
How do we see?
What do you see?
It’s not my birthday, but every day can’t we celebrate SOMETHING?
Colors, seasons, Tuesdays, Mexico, circles, houses, maps, our names, numbers, one seed, our journals, favorite books, inventions, rivers, peace!
Can we celebrate our country on the fourth of October or the twelfth of May?
We don’t have school on the fourth of July!
Every day let’s celebrate SOMETHING!
Life – the wonder and power and miracle of Life – of being here, learning together, with all our fantastic powers.
Surprise me.
Amaze me.
Startle me.
Challenge me.
Try me.
Laugh with me.
Love me.
Teach me
in “the key of life,”
and I promise I’ll
surprise, amaze, startle, challenge, try, enjoy and love YOU!

Our Christian Heritage In Print
One thing almost all of today's liberals (and even many neo-cons) absolutely hate is that America was founded as a Christian nation. The Colonies were in fact started by Christians, many of them religious refugees who were in fact, zealous Christians.
I guess you would have to change that to "extremist" Christians for today's vernacular, but you get the point. They had very explicit Christian purposes in the founding and attempted to establish a Christian law order.
In the early fifties, Earl Warren spoke in no uncertain terms of America's founding:
Patrick Henry takes a stand with his "Give Me
Liberty or Give me Death" speech.
"I believe no one can read the history of our country without realizing that the good book and the spirit of the Savior have, from the beginning been our guiding genius.
Whether we look at the first Charter of Virginia or to the Charter of Massachusetts Bay, or to the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, the same objective is present, a Christian land governed by Christian principles.
I believe the entire Bill of Rights came into being because of the knowledge our forefathers had of the Bible and their express belief in it. I like to think that today we are living in the spirit of the Christian religion. And I would also like to believe that as long as we do, no great harm can come to our country."
A most remarkable set of comments coming from a Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Now, Justice Warren was no right-winger and certainly not a tea partier. In fact, you might even make the case for him being a liberal. My point is that just 50 years ago, even liberals knew that the roots of liberty rested on Christianity because they knew the true history of our nation.
Roger Schulz, head of Liberty University's history department, has framed Justice Warren's comments into four main points:
The country at its origin was anchored in the Bible and Jesus Christ
The foundational documents of American history testify to its Christian roots
Our liberties rest upon a Christian and Biblical law order
God will providentially protect a faithful nation
Listen Up: We live at a time when these roots are both ignored as well as suppressed, especially by our government-run schools. There is a genuine hostility to Christianity, especially as it relates to the history of the founding up to the writing of the Constitution.
More and more folks call our office and say something like this: "Bill, what's the best way to respond to a guy in my local paper who says America was never a Christian nation? Can you help me? Can you teach me how to argue with these guys? Can you? Huh? Huh?"
Well, strangely enough, the answer is yes, sort of. At least I can give you a "qualified yes" answer to such questions. And actually I can't teach you myself, but I know of a few people who can get you started.
Provided of course, that the person wanting to learn has the ability to overcome the propaganda they've learned in public education. And, most importantly, they must possess a desire to learn how to defend our Christian heritage as well as an appetite for freedom under God.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So here's what I recommend: If you were my student, the first thing I would ask you to do is give yourself a basic education in what constitutes true liberty. So to begin with, you should go to the web-page www.TheOnlyWayBack.com and learn what you can about the difference between freedom and slavery. It's simply the best presentation I have ever heard on where liberty actually comes from.
Ok, after you master that course, I would further instruct you to get John Eidsmoe's course on the Constitution as well as his book Christianity and the Constitution. They can be found at www.thefoundersplan.com. As I mentioned before, getting a good education on the founding and the constitution borders on the impossible in America today. You see, most books written about American history are not just bad: they are downright dangerous!
Onward. Once you've got a grip on the real history of our nation, simply sit down, pick a part of Christian history you like and then... get writing! The goal here isn't to re-write the Magna Carta or even a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed article. The goal of this exercise is to get you started, period. Keep in mind that once you absorb the information in the previous courses I've mentioned, your pen will start to move on paper right before your very eyes. But you must saturate your mind with true history first.
Now, once you start writing, keep it short. What you want to do is stick with the facts you have learned and cite only one or two historical examples at a time as you write your short letter to the editor. Then, put your letter away for a day or so and let your brain work. Then get it out and take another look. You will be surprised at what this does to your perspective. Next, "re-write" your article and put it away one more time for a day. Get up early on the following day with a fresh cup of coffee and finish your letter by massaging any rough spots and putting on the finishing touches. That's it, you're done.
What? You want Off the Grid News to publish your article? Sure, no problem. I've decided to create a special section on Off the Grid News for our readers who want to self-publish their articles on America's Christian history. So, if you want to practice writing at OfftheGridNews.com before you go out into a cold, hostile world with your articles, send them to submissions@offthegridnews.com.
Why do this? Why go through all the effort, blood, sweat and tears of writing articles on America's Christian heritage? Because the soft, easy and prosperous times in America are over. Many of the freedoms that we have taken for granted are coming to an end unless we return to America's roots. Right now, more than anything, America needs tough-minded Christian writers who are willing to take a stand for the truth.
The great heroes of the Bible: Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, Jeremiah, and Elijah, were tough-minded, courageous doers who took a stand. As I write this, the forces of darkness seem to be prevailing. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is looking for courageous men and women who will stand for righteousness and against the wickedness of our day. Moses told the people of Israel "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified because of them, for the Lord goes with you, He will never leave you or forsake you." Then as now, we are commanded not to be afraid of the evil of the day.
Once again, check out the courses at www.TheOnlyWayBack.com and www.thefoundersplan.com to beef up your knowledge of our Christian history. Then, submit your articles to us at submissions@offthegridnews.com. We look forward to receiving and publishing them.
Do this. Do it. Do it. If you feel called to take a stand at this time, please don't procrastinate. We look forward to taking a stand with you against the growing evil of our day and for the Kingdom of our Lord and His Christ.
Yours for taking a stand,
Bill Heid
Founder
Off The Grid News
P.S. One more thing. If you get good at this and want a job writing for Off The Grid News, we are always looking for passionate, professional writers. If we publish a few of your articles, and you're the best of the best, we would love to talk to you about joining our team. This is not a writing contest. We're just looking for good writers.

Football Frustration
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something I've been meaning to do, but never got around to it.....
http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=62057
"There is nothing like being a UK football fan. We are an incredibly passionate sports fanbase, and we back our winners as strongly as any college fanbase in the country. But included in that passion is a yearly balloon deflater known as the Kentucky football team. Even the best team at Kentucky in the last 30 years, the 2007 team, lost heartbreakers to Florida and Tennessee and had a completely flat performance on homecoming against Mississippi State. Because I am clearly a glutton for punishment, take a trip down memory lane below, and feel your heart break a total of 24 times in the last 8 seasons."
I sure hope this doesn't happen this Saturday.

The truly sad thing is that there are other heartbreaking losses that predate the list.
Tulane in the early 80's.
Bama when Curry was their coach.
Wurford from UF.
I'm just numb to it all by now.

So who is miserable?
In spite of all of that horrible history, I'm still pretty upbeat which should be surprising after all that has happened. If you want to ignore the past, you're probably doomed to repeat it. Everyone should be aware and swear not to let it happen again.

-Hmm. and right after I just finished my thought in the "Over it now" thread.
-If Brown can get over his fears, and can call gameplans that ATTACK the other team, we can start winning more games.
-Recall my incredibly simple, but incredibly accurate philosophy. "As often as possible, make your plays, and their mistakes, on the OTHER side of the line of scrimmage."
Sounds overly simple, but that's what makes it so effective. Call plays to force the other team to react to you. We need to quit coaching defense and calling like we're the "Rocky Balboa" of football. Quit signing up to take a pounding, and then trusting on our efficient offense to pull back into it.
Blitz, fake blitz, press up in coverage, then drop off. Surge at the LOS to maybe get a few false starts. Be unpredictable!!! Force the opponent into audible by lining up 8 on the LOS and then send only three or four.
HIT THE QB EARLY.
One of the greatest, unappreciated facets of pressuring and getting into the backfield is to pound on the QB. It's what makes the corner blitz so nasty. SURE, the QB can dump it off, or hit a hot read, but the Corner usually comes in untouched and gets to level the guy. Get a couple of good hits on the guy and you'll see the effectiveness of those fake blitzes increase, (As we've seen from our QBs). You'll see those audible come a little quicker, and that ball seem a little hotter in the guy's hand as that pocket patience start eroding. He starts trying to get rid of it before routs develop, etc.
DO WHAT WINNING COACHES DO AND YOU'LL BE A WINNING COACH!!!
-And will someone, anyone, any of you fine folks that are close to the program remind them that, just in case they just don't see any way they can throw for that 3rd and 12, just run a draw. You've got good backs, they might just make a play. Not that I don't want you to throw, but I think I can speak for a lot of fans when I say that, if you ain't gonna go to the sticks, if you're gonna run three WRs on the play and only one of them has a route that gets the distance.... just run a draw. At least concede the down by giving one of those talented backs a chance to make someone miss.
If nothing else, look at how much success our opponents get out of doing it to us.

I must've been mistaken. I'm sorry. Those games never happened. Must've been some other team.
Love the "circle the wagons" mentality.
Here's how Teamspeedkills sees us, pointing out there is hope.
"The good news for Kentucky is that the hardest part of their schedule is almost over. After playing South Carolina in Lexington this weekend -- and the Cats always play the Gamecocks close -- the games left on the slate are Georgia, at Mississippi State, Charleston Southern, Vanderbilt and at Tennessee. Even accounting for Kentucky's difficult beating the Vols and an improving Mississippi State, the odds are good that the Cats can find at least the three wins they need to make their first trip to the postseason of the Joker Phillips Era."

That's changing the subject. No one's denying they happened. It's why dwell on negatives before a big game? Makes zero sense. Bring it up in January.

I've heard that argument before when I was in charge of putting Quality Management into place at work.
What does this have to do with a big game tonight? Will a discussion cause us to win or lose the big game? Hardly.
There are some lessons learned to be gleaned from the information provided by the KSR artilce.
1. Poor defense isn't just a Steve Brown thing. It has been going on for years under many different coaches. Yet, a lot of people are calling for his head.
2. Looking at these losses should tell us it is more mental than anything. Or, maybe not. How do we deal with that? Simply changing coaches hasn't worked. Brooks talked about changing the culture. Why can't we? Because we have a big game?
3. The article only goes back to 2002, yet those of us who've been around since the 50s know that these kinds of losses have been going on for years and years and caused many tears. There are ways to anlayze this. Breaking down such loses into several categories is one way and doing some Root Cause Analysis may come up with an answer and perhaps a solution. For example, not all of these kinds of losses can be laid on the defense. The offense has failed us in some, like UT in Woodson's last year.
Breaking down these losses will result in some facts: The Offense lost this many, the Defense lost that many. I know of several games where the officials cost us a game. The two interception penalties down at Tulane is one example with Tulane kicking a field goal with no time on the clock. That loss was clearly on the shoulders of the officials.
All the games listed are games we either should have won or could have won. We've had two this year that fall into those two categories. Losing to Auburn with two seconds to go is a game we could have won. Losing at Ole Miss because of turnovers and penalties is a game we should have won. Mark Higgs running the ball up the middle for four straight plays against Tennessee is another game we should have won.
I don't see how tonight's game has anything to do with the issue. It may turn out that it does have something to do with it: a "coulda or shoulda" won game. Make no mistake, I want Kentucky to win. I sincerely hope that if it turns out to be a "coulda-shoulda" game it is USC fans who are doing the "coulda-shoulda" routine. When teams beat UK in basketball, they usually lose the next game. I hope that happens to USC after beating Bama.

The fans didn't cheer hard enough or loud enough. That's why UK lost all of those games.
Didn't you know that???
Oh...and they did the wave...that caused a loss of 43.4 prospective points per loss.
Darn those fans! Poo on them all.

3.9 points are meaningless in the history of UK losses.
In the games that I've seen wherein UK lost to an opponent by 3 points or less, the fans were going wild in the stands. That UK/LSU game. The fans were going absolutely ape****. Still UK lost. I think that was the first or second Saban season.
I'm sure that the fans were on it during the recent Auburn game as well. At least in the second half, when there was something about which to cheer.
When UK is being ABSOLUTELY STOMPED by UF by a score of 49 Zip or 72 to 12, 3.9 points don't amount to a hill of beans.
And the latter is more often than not the case with UK and serious opponents in football.
So I have to laugh and ridicule the notion that fans cause any kind of detriment to the program.
So, it must be the moon or the stars or fate or destiny or, possibly, UKAA doesn't care about the Football program except in so far as it is a cash cow in it's connection with SEC Football.

Nov 1, 1980 24-22.
If I remember correctly, they changed to rule to only 10 yard penalty and auto 1st down.
They went all the way on 3 passes.

Fans today were worth more than 3.9. We did very well.
I was wrong about last week also. We did better than 3.9, it wasn't enough, I ate (kilbasa) crow.

There were two results from last night's game that indicate a slow changing of the culture. The obvious one was that we beat the great Steve Spurrier for the first time in 17 tries.
From KSR's Thomas Beisner:
" - Here is my favorite stat of the night: UK is now 3-1 on the last four Big Blue Madness weekends and has beaten LSU, Auburn and South Carolina on those Saturdays."
http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=62210
This a very goor read and sums up my emotions as good as anything I've read so far.

How lucky I am to be a Kentucky fan, albeit many times more a Kentucky basketball fan. God has, only a little less, blessed the football program. I say God please bless the posts of Watchtower, Katmendo, and Dawood in this thread.
Every Kentucky fan should have a friend like my good friend, WildcatRick. Rick camps out first in line and claims good BBM tickets and sets up a wonderful www.wildcatnation.net tailgate the next day for the football game. Rick got Jeanie and me tickets just a couple of years ago and we enjoyed first row tickets for BBM, the tailgate party parking and first row seats for the LSU football upset the next day. It was a "best UK weekend" for us and being there with Rick and his many friends was great.
UK fans pack Commonwealth Stadium on fall afternoons week after week. They are fanatics! They may work many different jobs but have a tie to the University of Kentucky that puts recreation- the sense of being recreated in our spare times.
It is so evident to this UK Alumnus that God has special blessings for UK football fans.

If I remember correctly, they changed to rule to only 10 yard penalty and auto 1st down.
They went all the way on 3 passes.
Listen to it when it was called by Cawood.

Didn't you know that???
Oh...and they did the wave...that caused a loss of 43.4 prospective points per loss.
Darn those fans! Poo on them all.
You forgot the beach balls.

"I don't see how tonight's game has anything to do with the issue. It may turn out that it does have something to do with it: a "coulda or shoulda" won game. Make no mistake, I want Kentucky to win. I sincerely hope that if it turns out to be a "coulda-shoulda" game it is USC fans who are doing the "coulda-shoulda" routine."
I am very pleased to announce that Visor Boy and all USC fans get to do the "coulda-shoulda" routine instead of us.
