For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Dick Klitch gives Tobey a tennis lesson- Great day for Sammy K.!

Yesterday, 8-6-10, was a big day for Sammy K. !

My good friend,  Dick Klitch, offered years ago to give my granddaughters' tennis lessons.  That is a big deal; however, the girls have never allowed me to set up a time.  Tobey, Jay's fourteen year old, finished her softball season and has been in a week of rest from sports.  She relented to her grandpaw's nagging and I set up a 10 AM lesson for her with Mr. Klitch.
Jeanie and I picked Tobey up and had her at the Fanceyburg Park courts at ten.  Dick was there and although several younger kids were using two courts, that left two unoccupied for Tobey's lesson and it was a beautiful morning.

Dick handed Tobey a Tad Weed oversized racquet and proceeded to talk with her and then lob some balls to her with instructions proceeding.  Dick had watched Tobey play volleyball and softball and said she is an "athlete".  That is high praise from my tennis pro friend.
After about half the lesson, Dick looked over to me and said:  "This is just what I expected.  She is doing things kids her age don't do until after eight or ten lessons."

When your grandchild gets this praise from your lifelong friend and great tennis coach it feels mighty good.  Jay hasn't wanted Tobey to take up tennis because he calls it a "country club sport" and he knows that we Kegleys are not country club people.  Tobey's relenting to her grandpaw's wishes and the "lesson" will forever be a highlight of my life.  She may never pick up a racquet again, if only to play with her friend, Charlie, but It is a generous offer and a was a great day for Sammy K!

For you my friends

Hopefully it will work!

Please send back. ( I did ) It's neat. Don't delete this one, you'll laugh when you see the return message.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend.. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.

So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore..

I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever,

but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

Dawood Kahn's writings influence our good Kentucky fan and friend, Judi Cole

You are very observant, Judi.

Dave is probably about 40 or 50. He is a Kentucky fan through and through with an observing eye on the Middle Eastern part of our globe. I met him in Atlanta at an SEC tournament and we spent about an hour of good conversation in the hotel lobby. My habit is to get up early and do some computer- writing or reading. I have done that most of my life which I began doing while in engineering school at UK. I would come home tired from class, set the alarm for two in the morning, go to sleep and wake up and study while Jeanie and Jay and everybody else in our Cooperstown apartments were sleeping. I would go back to sleep for a few hours when I "hit a wall". It was an excellent time to study without distraction. I often go to the hotel lobby to read so as not to wake Jeanie with the light when we are traveling.

On one morning Dave was coming in from a night out on Atlanta with his two brothers about three in the morning. He sat and talked with me as the other two went back out into the city. Dave had been an Army Ranger in the Middle East and returned there as a civilian employee of the Army. He has many years of Middle East living and has traveled extensively in that part of the world. We shared our conservative views. Dave is mistrustful of many religions, even Christianity, but says he may be closer to Buddism. His monicer for computer then was "blueheritic". Jeanie's and my mutual friend, Rick Brizendine, knows Dave well and says Dave was very close to Christianity with his mother as a child. He has been a wild hair and the Ranger exploits testify that he is dar n near fearless. He is immensely loyal to our Wildcats as is "WildcatRick" Brizendine. If you have my book, "Cyber-Cat fans", each of the guys posted a lot in there.

I am happy that David Kaelin, aka Dawood Kahn, is a good friend of mine. He is including much from www.silkroadsandsiamesesmiles.com in books I hope to begin seeing out soon.
