Eye-Opener:

 

Charity Hospital run by the Sisters of Charity in New Orleans, along with the Upjohn company developed the plasma system in the 1930's that saved so many lives in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and in the Middle East now. 

During the Civil War most of the nurses were nuns.  

Even if you are not Catholic, this is eye opening:  

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals.  

Today, one out of five people in this country receive their medical care at a Catholic hospital. 

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools. Today, the Catholic Church teaches 3  million students a day, in its more than 250 Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High Schools and its more than 5000 Catholic grade schools.  

Every day, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than any other organization in the world.  

The new Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers would have to make up the loss. 

Also, all Catholic adoption services will come to an end... a human disaster. 

There are more than 77 million Catholics in this country.  It takes an estimated 50 million Catholic votes to elect a president.  

I am asking all of you to go to the polls in 2016 and be united in replacing all Senators and Reps with someone who will respect the Catholic Church, all Christians, and all Religions with perhaps the exception of Islam. 

Mr. President, you said, "The USA is not a Christian Nation". You are wrong - we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values allowing all religions in America to worship and practice freely... something that Islam will never do. 

Oh, by the way, on MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America .... Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital, heard a Muslim orchestra, seen a Muslim band march in a parade, know of a Muslim charity, ever seen Muslims shaking hands with a Muslim Girl Scout, or ever seen a Muslim Candy Striper volunteering in a hospital? 

Have you ever seen a Muslim do much of anything that contributes positively to the American way of life?

One more note.....  in every church or synagogue, I have ever been in, in the United States, I have always seen an American flag.

Perils of a Catholic Upbringing

As I walked down the busy sidewalk with my wife, knowing I was late for Mass my eyes fell upon one of those unfortunate ragged vagabonds that are found in every city these days.

Some people turned to stare. Others quickly looked away as if the sight would somehow contaminate them.

Recalling my old pastor, Father Hans, who always admonished me to "care for the sick, feed the hungry and clothe the naked", I was moved by some powerful inner urge to reach out to this unfortunate person.
Wearing what can only be described as rags, carrying her treasured worldly possessions in two plastic bags, my heart was touched by this person's condition.

Yes, where some people saw only rags,
I saw a true, hidden beauty.
A small voice inside my head called out,
"Reach out....

reach out . . .

and touch this person!"



So I did.

I won't be at Mass this week.

The Catholics were always so "together" that I had a few fights with them and there was much prejudice played by Protestants and Catholics.  Catholics are an important part of the Christian Conservative movement in America, and I am personally grateful for all of my Catholic friends.  They had many rituals only partially understood by us Protestants.  Today, I count them part of the great Tea Party movement which I and many others share. In the wake of the recent hurricane, a sibilant television commentator said, “I’m so glad we had that storm.” Apologies aside, his words betrayed a view: people are expendable for the sake of promoting a political program. In this instance the program was a form of socialism that has brought so much sorrow to other nations.

   When free people vote against their own freedoms, they knock down the columns of a free society on themselves, the way Samson brought down the temple on his own head. The first column to collapse will be the First Amendment right to freedom of religion. Naïfs who thought this could not happen will be startled when the Church has to close charities, hospitals and schools, and even parish churches if they are subject to tax intimidation. This will be far more disastrous to our civilization than the looming fiscal chaos and international instability. Although certain areas on November 6 reported massive voter fraud, the election results cannot be blamed just on corruption. Voters deliberately rejected warnings clearly made by moral and political leaders.

   At least we have a beacon of honesty shining on the Catholic Church in the United States. The 70 million or so Catholics were a Potemkin village, and the numbers of faithfully practicing Catholics are a small portion of that. Long before he became pope, Benedict was a prophet who said, “The church will become small and will have to start afresh more or less from the beginning.” As the state’s lions begin to roar, the nominal Catholics will skip out of the arena.

   For a long while Roman Catholicism became for many a nervously self-conscious kind of Cute Catholicism, with leprechauns, mariachi bands and Santa Claus instead of confession, prayer and fidelity to doctrine. But behind each leprechaun St. Patrick stares, and behind every mariachi band Our Lady of Guadalupe weeps, and behind every Santa Claus, Christ Himself judges.

   Catholics could have saved the best in America, and they can only blame themselves for what has fallen down: marriage breakdown, contempt for chastity, a record low birth rate, and destruction of infants. Looking at his own decadent empire, Cicero wrote:

Clever Catholics

Last Saturday afternoon, in Washington, D.C, an aide to Congresswoman

Nancy Pelosi visited the Bishop of the Catholic cathedral in D.C. He

told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day's

Mass, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to

the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi

a saint.



The Cardinal replied, "No. I don't really like the woman, and there

are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over certain of

Pelosi's views."



Pelosi's aide then said, "Look, I'll write a check here and now for a

donation of $100,000 to your church if you'll just tell the

congregation you see Pelosi as a saint."



The Cardinal thought about it and said, "Well, the church can use the

money, so I'll work your request into tomorrow's sermon."



As Pelosi's aide promised, Pelosi appeared for the Sunday worship and

seated herself prominently at the forward left side of the center

aisle. As promised, at the start of his sermon, the Cardinal pointed

out that Pelosi was present.



The Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation, "While

Congresswoman Pelosi's presence is probably an honor to some, the

woman is not numbered among my personal favorite personages. Some of

her views are contrary to tenets of the Church, and she tends to

flip-flop on many other issues. Nancy Pelosi is a petty,

self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. Nancy Pelosi

is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief. I must say, Nancy Pelosi

is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed.

She married for money and is using her wealth to lie to the American

people. She also has a reputation for shirking her Representative

obligations both in Washington and in California. The woman is simply

not to be trusted."



The Cardinal concluded, "But, when compared with President Obama,

Pelosi is a saint."

Sam, twice in my mistake prone life I have let imposed prejudices almost cheat me out of two of my best friends. They were fish-eaters( catholics) and I wasn't. Just before WWII ended June 1945, I was sworn in the navy and admitted to the V-5 pre-flight training unit at Denison U,(Granville,O). One of my three roommates was Capt. of Central Catholics Titans, football, in the 1944 season. Dick Diehl.----- OSU after the war I pledged a fraternity that was going broke. Another Portsmouth guy( Sam Ware) and I were made co rush chairmen to save us with the dues of new members. This we did! With most of the new members being from Portsmouth. One was Capt. of Central catholic Titans football 1943, Rodney Kinskey. Rod and Dick both remain good, good friends. Jim Fout and I visited with Dick in the assissted living facility about six weeks ago ln Ports.Rod has retired to Ariz. having sold a vast commercial empire in the NW U.S. to a subsidiary of Kroger. Included 116 convenience stores. Some he had acquired from 7-11. Both these guys were excellent athletes and friends. Life has treated me very kindly in it's provision of good firends. Jack P
