I have been receiving the WSJ daily along with the Columbus Disgrace. I normally pick up from the outer vestibule of our 37 unit condo each morning. I put the CD copies on the 'round table' and deliver a few downstairs copies after I have a short workout.
I thought few people were interested in my blog until I recently learned that Blogger, my blog provider has been holding comments under a "Comments Confirmation" comments tag. I was unaware, but recently learned, that there have been over 1200 comments since I started my SamKat blog skegley.blogspot.com in the last half of 2008, twelve years ago. I have perused most and found that the comments, although few are traceable as to the commenter 's internet link, they are 99.9+% extremely favorable, although by 'unknown'. Comments such as 'Just found this outstanding blog', and 'you are a great writer' just overwhelm, me now. Why didn't blogger let me know? Neither I, nor my family or friends who contribute so many wonderful posts have received a dime from my blog. I still enjoy posting on my blog; however, at 87, with many life-savings expended over these last 22 years, could certainly enjoy renumeration for my wife, Jeanie, of 68 years.
Back to the WSJ, which I admire gratefully over the leftist Columbus newspaper.
Saturday's are the weekend edition of WSJ which has a lot of greatly interesting reading. A neighbor, Dorothy Carroll, likes certain sections that I take to her door after my own perusal. I noted a few "goodies" I want to say something about in this post.
1.) Prime Minster Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom tested postive for the COVID-19 virus on March 26 and was hospitalized, put into the Intensive Care Unit, and released April 12. Awareness of the well-educated Prime Minister's serious encounter and survival has seemed to have a fairly calming effect in England.
2.) I knew nothing about Aaron Ginn, 32, who early-on published a March 20 paper "Evidence Over Hysteria-COVID-19" which had over two million readers in two and a half articles it was taken down. It can now be found on Archives.com which I intend to do today.
3.) Kimberly Strassel, who divides her time between her Friday article on the WSJ and her home in Alaska. Kimberly also has a book I want to read "Resistance". She also contributed an article today about how well Alaska has handled on-line education. She has children in high school, middle school and the third grade.
4.) Purdue University's President, Mitch Daniel, delivered a May 13 Convocation Address in which he had a couple of advice comments by Timothy Leary, the Harvard Professor's comments years ago to students:
"Turn on, tune in, and drop out." by Tim Leary.
Mitch Daniel countered that to students today with:
Turn off, tune out, and drop in." Off the phone, On the screen, The drop-in was for visits to old friends and family.
I hope these WSJ items mean something to you whose comments will probably "Await Confirmation"
by Blogger. They do allow me to blog freely but make it difficult to express my Christian Conservative views at times ... Oh well ...

Deaths vs Confirmed cases of COVID-19 -
I visit Our World Data for COVID-19 data charts.
I note that certain countries have 5% or more deaths vs confirmed cases, and most of those with the higher percentages of death would likely still be strong allies of the USA I mean those countries with data points towards the top of this data.
I searched raw data a few days ago and ran percentages of a few of those countries:

Exceptions to lower death rates are Iran at 6.6 and China at 6.0, which are not likely allies of ours.
The USA deaths would likely have been similar to France, Italy, and the UK, if President Trump had not very quickly halted incoming passengers from China. China halted travel from the originating Wuhan area to other parts of China, but not to the rest of the world. The United States is now performing many more tests than any of the other nations and apparently more testing discovers more deaths due to the world's Invisible Enemy.
I wonder about targeting. Much more can be gleaned from the many charts.

Why ... This Blessed Nation? SamKat A few thoughts and questions ...

The USA is currently short of labor with all of the jobs President Trump has incentivized to return to our great country. We have so many dissatisfied American Indians on reservations in America. Are they working at all, and why not, if not? Not to sound cruel, but it was their land and we took it and made reservations for them. Shouldn't they be given a chance by locating factories nearby reservations or by offering them jobs if they move? It should be well-recognized that the USA is the major destination for immigrants from throughout this world.
We have so many illegal immigrants now. As a Conservative Christian, I want to be magnanimous to all of God's creation; however, there is a sect of people coming illegally and some legally, who are not assimilating into American values and culture. Their so-called religion instructs their followers to kill all infidels (people who do not accept their way). Such people should not ever be welcome in America in my honest opinion.
I have an idea that, rather than provide additional reservations, the feds should be able to deal with less populous states to obtain land to be 'immigrant camps'. There, corporations could lease land and set up subcontracting factories such as Honda and Toyota have done in America. Not to be too global, but an acquaintance once suggested that the Japanese started WW II because they believed they could set up a lot of rice paddies between the Pacific Ocean and the Mississippi River in America and feed their people.
The Japanese are quite indebted to America now with us providing all of their defense. Essentially, we are feeding their people. They are much better at assimilating here than the sect mentioned above. President6Trump is well-acquainted with the Ja[panese leadership.He might request their ideas for the problems. They have always had too little land for so many people, yet they haven't killed them off, they have tried to obtain more land, usually by battle.
God has so blessed America. President Trump is a sinner like I am; however, he has done so much more for Christianity than I, or millions of other Christians have. Our politicians in this wonderful democracy just bicker. Somebody should attempt to solve this world's problems.

Old Sammy did not Have a fit ...
The 0ld guy now has a Fit, though. I had a slight accident in the recently purchased 06 Avalon and went to Germain Honda State Farm Appraisal for damage yesterday morning. The estimate was made and, as I backed out of the parking space on their lot, I saw a Kentucky blue car that looked to be a Toyota Prius C. I have had Toyota 07 Prius, 03 and 06 Avalon and 09 Camry Hybrid. I was taken in by the KY blue. I got out and looked it over and did not notice that it is a 16 Honda Fit, non-hybrid. The state of Ohio has, very unwisely, started taxing hybrid owners extra.
At 86, I had intended to glide in my driving and the Avalon is the best driving and riding car I have ever driven. I looked for a used or a lease on a Toyota Avalon and settled for a 2006 model from an individual in a newspaper ad, just a couple of months ago. After spending $1600 on brakes and seeing other problems down the road because the mechanic suggested the Avalon had damage from accidents front and back. I could see that I would have further expenses. Be careful, some owners don't always report accidents for Carfax.
I was informed while looking into the KY blue car to buy, that it is instead, a 16 Honda Fit. It is, however, non-keyless, economical, and a small station wagon. I drove it, showed it to my bride of 67 years, and bought it. Granddaughter Tobey once suggested that I buy a Fit when I was looking, but I liked the Toyotas so well, I did not. Stupid Ohio reps attacked hybrids, cars the Fed gave individuals bonuses to buy. The Fit is non-keyless, which I enjoy because Old Sammy can't get along with keyless cars. Please honk and wave if you see me in my KY Blue Honda Fit regaled in tasteful UK paraphernalia ...
I love KY blue! Go Cats! Being a KY Wildcat basketball traditionalist gained me a Kentucky blue Fit.

I highly respect those who sacrificed all and died (and all Gold Star families) for our great country ...
I have been a LeBron James fan since his high School days in Akron, Ohio. Although, He has entered political statements from time to time which I cannot agree with. Now, I blame the Cleveland Cavs top management for not obtaining the help to compete with the Golden State Warriors. Five terrific basketball players can beat One "above the rest" and a few other good ones and have done so. Going to LA was Lebron's privilege as it was when he went to Miami a few years ago for similar reasons.
Today, Dennis Prager played a speech blurb wherein LeBron claimed that President Trump started the recent disagreements between the athletes and the president. A caller soon called to agree with Lebron's observation; however, the caller soon also agreed with Mr. Prager that it was Kapernick instead, when the athlete took a knee during the playing of the national anthem before an NFL game. I also agree with the caller and Dennis Prager. The President believes, as I do, that our American flag always buoyed up those sacrificial service people in performing their duties and the flag deserves the respect of all Americans.
I just finished reading "The Forties IN Pictures" which made me feel somewhat guilty. I was born In 1932 and was too small to remember so much about the nation's depression years or Portsmouth Ohio's terrible 1937 flood, although our house was nearly inundated. I and so many others have been acclaiming our happiness in growing up in theses United States during the thirties, forties, fifties, and sixties. Playing ball in Mound Park for me, swimming in our terrific swimming pool, and enjoying grade school sports in winter as well as following great High school sports teams of southeastern Ohio just seemed like 'Camelot' to this Portsmouth guy.
I sometimes offer a weak apology for the fact that I never shot at or got shot at during my US Army days in 1952 and 1954. The heroes are the guys whose bodies are in cemeteries or ocean depths or those who lost members of their bodies or parts or all of their minds. I have enjoyed so many veterans benefits which they earned by their sacrifices for America. I must also say though that I hated to leave my beautiful wife when I entered service on my twentieth birthday. I was drafted. All of the sad songs, such as Vera Lynn's "When You Come Back Again ..." had me feeling low. Any service person leaving home has no assurance that they will see the people they love again, and I severely felt that sadness . I knew very little about the North Koreans or Chinese we were fighting at the time or about the politics.
Now my wife and I have enjoyed 66 years of marriage, two sons and grandchildren as Christians in the most blessed country in the world. We thank God and our gold star families.
I have been so fortunate to return home and also that my sons were alive at times they could enjoy their homes without going into service. Service people don't begrudge such fortunate ones as myself or my sons. In fact they nearly universally feel that our country deserves whatever sacrifice is required. I still have that patriotism and thankful heart for those who sacrificed so much more.

From just a non-wavering Always Trump Supporter, retired engineer, author ...
I am a determined Always Trump Conservative Christian for many reasons. It sickens me that so many are raising 'sand' about the Trump/Putin Helsinki Summit.
1.) Why should there not be conversations between the two greatest power leaders in this world?
If President Trump had a slip up, he and Chief of Staff Kelly were manning up in the walk-back comments.
2.) Although many are not still there, among the President's closest allies, I have never read one comment that anyone, gone or remaining, believed he was not putting extreme energy into his job. We need to get out of the country's extreme left wing drift over the last four decades.
I have been to Tea Party events and I observe that such people are the salt of the earth types I have known throughout my mainly twentieth century lifetime.
I pray regularly for the Trump family's safety in this violent world of crazies. I thank God for the courage of each member of the President's family.
3.) Citizen Trump's fortune was outstanding without his venture into this political situation. I believe he literally fell In love with Tea Party types along the campaign trail, and he still meets with so many of those Trump supporters in his convictions to serve 'we the people'. God blesses those efforts in my honest opinion. He has helped this largely Anglo Christian populace and fully supports our constitution and the freedoms our service people fought for.
4.) Never Trumper poitiicians are certainly among those who make me sick to my stomach. They, and all swamp creatures in American leadership, have been in office much too long in wasting our tax dollars. Long years of service? UGH! It was a rare occurence that any of them truly served their constituency. They served the lobbyists companies far more than they served their constituencies. They 'chomped their gums and picked their teeth' while collecting much larger than deserved salaries and benefits.
Term limits are welcomed by conservatives and even by many liberals of my acquaintance.
5.) A walk-back? Okay. The man earnestly and conscientiously exerts himself every day for this country. Now I consider his integrity in serving us, and my appreciation for him is not wavering.
Please God, continue to bless President Donald Trump, his family, the United Sates citizens and legal immigrants, and all of the citizens of this universe.
Mostly, I believe that our loving Creator is still in control of this world ...
