USA's education has slipped so much in the recent past, and America must recognize the problems. This is graphically shown by worldwide data. It is true that not all high school graduates are needing college degrees to help this country. I've applauded Liz Thompson's past articles but none more than this one.
I recently began substitute teaching and enjoying time in classrooms which are positively appointed so well by teachers, and I see so many bright faces among kids who desire acceptance for all phases, in addition to athletics, among fellow students.
I am a retired engineer and I have taught and tutored Mathematics at Columbus State Community College (CSCC) two year degree students and in the Columbus area for most of the fifty years my family and I have lived here. Some go on to college degrees and professions whereas many CSCC students go on into trades and do well with their educational backgrounds and skills.
Americans must be concerned about the education our nation's children are receiving.
I also am proud of mostly wonderful teachers, and I have witnessed only a couple recently in my recent ventures into the systems around the northwest Columbus suburb schools
who 'mislead'. I am not as proud of America's overall educational system today.
