This is what all of us 80+-year-olds, and those yet-to-be, have to look forward to!! This is something that happened at an assisted living center. The people who lived there had small apartments but they all ate at a central cafeteria. One morning one of the residents didn't show up for breakfast so my wife went upstairs and knocked on his door to see if everything was OK. She could hear him through the door and he said that he was running late and would be down shortly, so she went back to the dining area.An hour later he still hadn't arrived so she went back up towards his room but found him on the stairs. He was coming down the stairs but was having a devil of time. He had a death grip on the hand rail and seemed to have trouble getting his legs to work right. She told him she was going to call an ambulance but he told her no, he wasn't in any pain and just wanted to have his breakfast. So she helped him the rest of the way down the stairs and he had his breakfast. When he tried to return to his room he was completely unable to get up even the first stair step so they called an ambulance for him.A couple hours later she called the hospital to see how he was doing. The receptionist there said he was fine, he just had both of his legs in one side of his boxer shorts. We need to send this to our children so they don't sell the house before they know all the facts.

For Christian American readers of this blog:
I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.
The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!
A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:
"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."
Thanks Jack!
I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Thx to my truly young friend, Ron W (83) ... To an almost old friend
To an almost old person ......
I never really liked the terminology "Old People"but this makes me feel better about it.And if you ain't one, I bet ya you know one!I got this from an "Old Personal friend of mine"!"OLD PEOPLE" PRIDEI'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only "old people" receiving it. Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.· Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.· Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal , Normandy , and Hitler.. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention Vietnam .· If you bump into an Old People on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old People on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.· Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.· Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.· Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.· It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country. This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country, and decent values. We need them now more than ever.Thank God for Old People....Pass this on to all of the "Old People" you know.I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Ice Cream ... Thx Paul C!
Subject: FW: ICE CREAM!
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
ONE DAY I HAD LUNCH WITH SOME FRIENDS. JIM, A SHORT, BALDING GOLFER
TYPE ABOUT 80 YEARS OLD, CAME ALONG WITH THEM---ALL IN ALL, A PLEASANT
BUNCH.
WHEN THE MENUS WERE PRESENTED, WE ORDERED SALADS, SANDWICHES, AND
SOUPS, EXCEPT FOR JIM WHO SAID, "ICE CREAM, PLEASE. TWO SCOOPS,
CHOCOLATE.
I WASN'T SURE MY EARS HEARD RIGHT, AND THE OTHERS WERE AGHAST. "ALONG
WITH HEATED APPLE PIE," JIM ADDED, COMPLETELY UNABASHED.
WE TRIED TO ACT QUITE NONCHALANT, AS IF PEOPLE DID THIS ALL THE TIME.
BUT WHEN OUR ORDERS WERE BROUGHT OUT, I DIDN'T ENJOY MINE.
I COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF JIM AS HIS PIE A-LA-MODE WENT DOWN. THE
OTHER GUYS COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. THEY ATE THEIR LUNCHES SILENTLY AND
GRINNED.
THE NEXT TIME I WENT OUT TO EAT, I CALLED AND INVITED JIM . I LUNCHED
ON WHITE MEAT TUNA. HE ORDERED A PARFAIT.
I SMILED. HE ASKED IF HE AMUSED ME.
I ANSWERED, "YES, YOU DO, BUT ALSO YOU CONFUSE ME.
HOW COME YOU ORDER RICH DESSERTS, WHILE I FEEL I MUST BE SENSIBLE? HE
LAUGHED AND SAID "I'M TASTING ALL THAT IS POSSIBLE.
I TRY TO EAT THE FOOD I NEED, AND DO THE THINGS I SHOULD. BUT LIFE'S
SO SHORT, MY FRIEND, I HATE MISSING OUT ON SOMETHING GOOD. THIS YEAR I
REALIZED HOW OLD I WAS. (HE GRINNED) I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS OLD BEFORE."
"SO, BEFORE I DIE, I'VE GOT TO TRY THOSE THINGS THAT FOR YEARS I HAD
IGNORED. I HAVEN'T SMELLED ALL THE FLOWERS YET. THERE ARE TOO MANY
TROUT STREAMS I HAVEN'T FISHED. THERE'S MORE FUDGE SUNDAES TO WOLF
DOWN AND KITES TO BE FLOWN OVERHEAD.
THERE ARE TOO MANY GOLF COURSES I HAVEN'T PLAYED. I'VE NOT LAUGHED AT
ALL THE JOKES. I'VE MISSED A LOT OF SPORTING EVENTS AND POTATO CHIPS
AND COKES. I WANT TO WADE AGAIN IN WATER AND FEEL OCEAN SPRAY ON MY
FACE.
I WANT TO SIT IN A COUNTRY CHURCH ONCE MORE AND THANK GOD FOR HIS
GRACE.
I WANT PEANUT BUTTER EVERY DAY SPREAD ON MY MORNING TOAST. I WANT
UN-TIMED LONG DISTANCE CALLS TO THE FOLKS I LOVE THE MOST.
I HAVEN'T CRIED AT ALL THE MOVIES YET, OR WALKED IN THE MORNING RAIN.
I NEED TO FEEL WIND ON MY FACE. I WANT TO BE IN LOVE AGAIN.
SO, IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE DESSERT, INSTEAD OF HAVING DINNER, THEN
SHOULD I DIE BEFORE NIGHT FALL, I'D SAY I DIED A WINNER, BECAUSE I
MISSED OUT ON NOTHING. I FILLED MY HEART'S DESIRE. I HAD THAT FINAL
CHOCOLATE MOUSSE BEFORE MY LIFE EXPIRED.."
WITH THAT, I CALLED THE WAITRESS OVER. "I'VE CHANGED MY MIND, " I
SAID. "I WANT WHAT HE IS HAVING, ONLY ADD SOME MORE WHIPPED CREAM!"
THIS IS MY GIFT TO YOU - WE NEED AN ANNUAL FRIENDS DAY! IF YOU GET
THIS TWICE, THEN YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE FRIEND. LIVE WELL, LOVE MUCH &
LAUGH OFTEN - BE HAPPY.
SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDSINCLUDING ME IF I'M LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE
COUNTED AMONG THEM.
BE MINDFUL THAT HAPPINESS ISN'T BASED ON POSSESSIONS, POWER, OR
PRESTIGE, BUT ON RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE WE LIKE AND RESPECT.
REMEMBER THAT WHILE MONEY TALKS,CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM SINGS!
