Famed actor Clint Eastwood, 86, returned to the political fray with some pointed comments in an
Esquire magazine interview, dishing on political correctness and the need for change from what the Obama Administration has offered the past two presidential terms.
Eastwood's interview excerpts, culled by the
Independent Journal Review on Wednesday, were conservative in nature. While he didn't officially endorse Republican nominee Donald Trump over Democrat Hillary Clinton, Eastwood is leaning away from the left.
"I'd have to go for Trump … you know, 'cause she's declared that she's gonna follow in Obama's footsteps," Eastwood told the magazine. "There's been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She's made a lot of dough out of being a politician."
Trump has faced a firestorm in recent days with his inability to tone down his antics to remain politically correct, but that's precisely what Eastwood likes about the candidate.
"He's onto something, because secretly everybody's getting tired of political correctness, kissing up," he said. "… Everybody's walking on eggshells.
"All these people that say, 'Oh, you can't do that, and you can't do this, and you can't say that.' I guess it's just the times.
"What Trump is onto is he's just saying what's on his mind. And sometimes it's not so good. And sometimes it's … I mean, I can understand where he's coming from, but I don't always agree with it."
