Welcome

Welcome to my blog http://www.skegley.blogspot.com/ . CAVEAT LECTOR- Let the reader beware. This is a Christian Conservative blog. It is not meant to offend anyone. Please feel free to ignore this blog, but also feel free to browse and comment on my posts! You may also scroll down to respond to any post.

For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Thx to my truly young friend, Ron W (83) ... To an almost old friend

To an almost old person ......

I never really liked the terminology "Old People"
but this makes me feel better about it.
And if you ain't one, I bet ya you know one!
I got this from an "Old Personal friend of mine"!

"OLD PEOPLE" PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only "old people" receiving it. Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.

·       Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment.  They know the words and believe in them.

·       Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor,  Guadalcanal  , Normandy , and Hitler.. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention  Vietnam .

·       If you bump into an Old People on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old People on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.

·       Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

·       Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.

·       Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.

·       It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.
This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country, and decent values.
We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old People....
Pass this on to all of the "Old People" you know.
I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

Definition of a Friend. . . . Thx Pat W!

Definition of a Friend

DEFINITION  OF FRIEND.

I think this is the greatest and truest description I've ever heard for a Friend...

Friends ...  They love you,
But they're not in love with you

They care for you,
But they're not from your family

They're ready to share your pain,
But they're not your blood relation.

They are ... FRIENDS!  !!!!

A True friend...
Scolds like a
 DAD....
Cares like a MOM...

Teases like a
 SISTER...

Irritates like a BROTHER...

And finally, loves you more than a LOVER.

The nicest place to be is in  someone's THOUGHTS!

The safest place to be is in someone's PRAYERS!

And  the best place to be is in GOD'S HANDS
Wonderful antidote to all the horrible stuff on the  news

Story of Two Pots ... Thx Paul C!

Subject: How could I resist sending this one

>>
>>> An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends
>>> of a pole which she carried across her neck.
>>>
>>> One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect
>>> and always delivered a full portion of water.
>>>
>>> At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the
>>> cracked pot arrived only half full.
>>>
>>> For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing
>>> home only one and a half pots of water.
>>>
>>> Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
>>>
>>> But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and
>>> miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
>>>
>>> After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke
>>> to the woman one day by the stream.
>>>
>>> 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water
>>> to leak out all the way back to your house.'
>>>
>>> The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your
>>> side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'
>>>
>>> 'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted
>>> flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk
>>> back, you water them.'
>>>
>>> For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to
>>> decorate the table.
>>>
>>> Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this
>>> beauty to grace the house.'
>>>
>>> Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws
>>> we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and
>>> rewarding.
>>>
>>> You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for
>>> the good in them.
>>>
>>> SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember
>>> to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Andy Rooney was so right so often ... Thx Pat W (PHS 50)!

  FROM ONE FRIEND TO
ANOTHER

Take two minutes
to read these sayings and be sure to read all the way to the
bottom:

Written by Andy Rooney, a man who had
the gift of saying so much with so few words.
Rooney has passed away but used to be on
CBS's 60 Minutes TV
show.

I've
learned....
That the
best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly
person.

I've learned....
That when you're in love, it
shows.

I've learned
....
That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my
day!' makes my day.

I've
learned....
That having a child fall asleep in your arms
is one of the most peaceful feelings in the
world.

I've
learned....
That being kind is more important than being
right.

I've
learned....
That you
should never say no to a gift from a
child.

I've
learned....
That I
can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in any
other way.

I've
learned....
That no matter how serious your life requires
you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy
with.

I've
learned....
That sometimes all a person needs is a hand
to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned....
That simple walks with my father around the block on
summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an
adult.

I've learned....
That life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The
closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned....
That money doesn't buy
class.

I've
learned....
That it's those small daily happenings that
make life so spectacular.

I've
learned...
That under everyone's hard shell is someone
who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned....
That to ignore the facts
does not change the facts.

I've
learned....
That when you plan to get even with
someone,
you are only letting that person continue to hurt
you.

I've
learned....
That love, not time, heals all
wounds.

I've
learned....
That the
easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter
than I
am

I've
learned....
That
everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a
smile.

I've
learned....
That no one is perfect until you fall in love
with them

I've
learned....
That life is tough, but I'm
tougher.

I've
learned....
 That opportunities are never lost;
someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned....
That when you harbor
bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned....
That I wish I
could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed
away.

I've
learned...
That one should keep his words both soft and
tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned....
That a smile is
an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned....
That when your
newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, you're hooked
for life.

I've
learned....
That everyone wants to live on top of the
mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing
it.

I've
learned...
That the
less time I have to work with, the more things I get
done.

The Pecan Tree ... Thx Ron W!

The Pecan Tree

The Pecan Tree
On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.
Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me ...."
He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along. "Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls!" The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."
The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord...?" Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.
At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done...."
They say the old man had the lead for a good half-mile before the kid on the bike passed him.

Wonderful, Friend!  Now that is so much better than the disagreeing messages we have shared!

You might have thrown away those long time crutches and have beaten both of them!  But I want to see you in Heaven, good friend and all of our friends.  Many are disappearing regularly as we go through our eighties.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And, eventually, I remember the important things.

Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think.. I don't question myself anymore.
I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever,
