AIRLINE CAPTAIN:
He writes:
My lead flight attendant came to me and said, "We have an H.R. on this flight." (H.R. stands for human remains.) "Are they military?" I asked.
'Yes', she said.
'Is there an escort?' I asked.
'Yes, I already assigned him a seat'.
'Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can board him early," I said..
A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier.
He introduced himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us.
'My soldier is on his way back to Virginia ,' he said.
He proceeded to answer my questions, but offered no words.
I asked him if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. I told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen soldiers.
The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.
We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an uneventful departure.
About 30 minutes into our flight I received a call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin.
'I just found out the family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board', she said. She then proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier was in before we left. We were on our way to a major hub at which the family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to Virginia ..
The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable to see him was too much for him and the family to bear. He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken off the airplane.. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants voice when she asked me if there was anything I could do.. 'I'm on it', I said. I told her that I would get back to her.
Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the form of e-mail like messages.
I decided to bypass this system and contact my flight dispatcher directly on a secondary radio.
There is a radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the telephone of the dispatcher.
I was in direct contact with the dispatcher.. I explained the situation I had on board with the family and what it was the family wanted.
He said he understood and that he would get back to me.
Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the family.
I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return message from the dispatcher and the following is the text:
'Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things.
Upon your arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft.
The team will escort the family to the ramp and plane side. A van will be used to load the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family only.
When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted onto the ramp and plane side to watch the remains being loaded for the final leg home. Captain, most of us here in flight control are veterans. Please pass our condolences on to the family. Thanks.'
I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful and told me, 'You have no idea how much this will mean to them.'
Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing. After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp area.
The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway. It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to enter and exit.
When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.
'There is a team in place to meet the aircraft', we were told. It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did that and the ramp controller said, 'Take your time.'
I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the public address button and said, 'Ladies and gentleman, this is your Captain speaking I have stopped short of our gate to make a special announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our honor and respect.
His Name is Private XXXXXX, a soldier who recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo hold. Escorting him today is Army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.'
We continued the turn to the gate, came to a Stop and started our shutdown procedures.
A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you just do not see.
I was told that after we came to a stop, every passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family to exit the aircraft.
When the family got up and gathered their things, a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping.
Words of 'God Bless You', I'm sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out of the airplane. They were escorted down to the ramp to finally be with their loved one.
Many of the passengers disembarking thanked me for the announcement I had made.
They were just words, I told them, I could say them over and over again, but nothing I say will bring back that brave soldier.
I respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our freedom and safety in these United States of AMERICA ..

As a Viet Nam Veteran I can only think of all the veterans including the ones that rode below the deck on their way home and how they were treated.
When I read things like this I am proud that our country has not turned their backs on our soldiers returning from the various war zones today and give them the respect they so deserve.
I know every one who has served their country who reads this will have tears in their eyes, including me.

The year is 2016 and the United States has just elected the first woman president, who happens to be from Ohio. A few days after the election the president-elect, whose name is Susan, calls her father and says, 'So, Dad, I assume you will be coming to my inauguration?'
'I don't think so. It's an 10 hour drive."
'Don't worry about it Dad, I'll send Air Force One. And a limousine will pick you up at your door.'
'I don't know. Everybody will be so fancy. What would your mother wear?'
Oh Dad," replies Susan, 'I'll make sure she has a wonderful gown custom-made by the best designer in Washington .'
'Honey,' Dad complains, 'you know I can't eat those rich foods you eat.'
The President-to-be responds, 'Don't worry Dad. The entire affair will be handled by the best caterer in Washington , I’ll ensure your meals are salt free. You and mom just have to be there.'
So Dad reluctantly agrees and on January 20, 2017, Susan is being sworn in as President of the United States . In the front row sits the new president's Dad and Mom. Dad noticing the senator sitting next to him leans over and whispers, 'You see that woman over there with her hand on the Bible, becoming President of the United States .’

This just might make your day a little brighter!! You, who worry about Democrats versus Republicans--relax, here is our real problem. In a Purdue University classroom, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United States . It was pretty simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age. However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president. The class was taking it in and letting her rant, and many jaws hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?" Yep, these are the same kinds of 18-year-olds that are now voting in our elections!
......and they walk among us.

While on the operating table she had a near death experience.
Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"
God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."
Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a
face-lift, liposuction and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in
and change her hair colour and brighten her teeth!
Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well
make the most of it. After her last operation, she was released from the
hospital.
While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an
ambulance.
Arriving in front of God, she demanded,
";I thought you said I had another 43 years.
Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"

A famous art dealer on the Atlantic City Boardwalk said everybody has one good painting inside him. I think everybody's got at least one good philosophical message inside him. My father's leapt out shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
I was in short pants and speaking soprano, but I dashed into his room waving the morning paper and yelled, "Daddy! Great news! We sank one of their ships and killed 2,000 of those …" At that point my father interrupted me.
"I understand what you mean, Son," he said. "I understand what you mean. But it's never good news when people die."
Therefore, had I been on the air when word of bin Laden's rightful execution came across, I could never have aped the anchorman who screamed, "Bin Laden is dead! Bin Laden is dead! Hooray! This is the happiest moment of my career!"
Satisfaction, yes. Deep satisfaction, yes. But jubilation? The American crowds got it right. The growing horde of happy Americans who gathered in front of the White House at midnight were shouting, "USA! USA!" celebrating the life of the just, not the death of the wretched.
This is the first big one we ever got. Hitler was thought to have died in his bunker, but for years there was really no confirmation. Stalin, like a successful Mafia don, died in bed. Mussolini had been reduced to a historical hiccup by the time Italian partisans strung him upside-down in a gas station in northern Italy. Even Idi Amin lived out his exile in Saudi Arabia.
The operation, however, was not the first big one the good guys ever pulled off. The rescue of the hostages by Israeli commandos at Uganda's Entebbe Airport, the abduction of top-Nazi exterminator Adolf Eichmann in Argentina, the rescue of American POWs held by the Japanese at Cabanatuan and the 11 Norwegian underground fighters who destroyed Hitler's dream of a nuclear bomb by blowing up a heavy-water plant in Rjukan, Norway, are some headlines that come to mind.
The obliteration of Osama bin Laden, however, is here, now, and bristling with happy implications. Count the hours since the May 1 announcement of bin Laden's demise. Every one that goes by without an al-Qaida reprisal signals a more impressive victory. An American harpoon has punctured the bin Laden balloon of hot, hateful air. Remember bin Laden's smug analysis that "People flock to get behind the strong horse; not the weak horse!" At that moment, America was the weak horse. I don't expect bin Laden's followers to understand concepts like "peace," "Love thy neighbor," "Treat thy prisoner humanely!" or anything that morally complex.
I do expect them to understand this: Weak horses can't kill strong horses. Strong horses can kill weak horses.
Already the Navy SEAL success has given two of Israel's nearest enemies their first lovers' quarrel. Hamas considers bin Laden a martyred hero. Their brand new "partner," Fatah, considers him a despicable terrorist. It seems like just yesterday experts were asking how long the unity of that pair would last.
Pakistan knew where Osama was as surely as Claude Rains knew there was gambling in Rick's place in Casablanca. My advice? Put the bony finger of indignation in your pocket. We've known all along Pakistan was ambivalent at best; possibly a terrorist sympathizer. If Pakistan can live with our blazing violation of their sovereignty, we'll live with their duplicity. Why turn a false friend into a true enemy, nuclear arsenal and all?

Some of my best friends are vexed that a president they dread and fear will get credit for this super-coup. Two suggestions: Jewish scripture teaches "When the fox has his day, bow down to him!" Having bowed, stand up straight again. Eisenhower, Reagan, George W. Bush would have "gotten credit" for getting bin Laden. Obama is non-military, anti-military and at such pains to placate Islam he bows to the king of Arabia and doesn't wear bling during Ramadan. I don't see a big pro-Obama bounce in the polls; certainly nothing a further rise in gas prices can't erase.
During the Bush 1–Dukakis campaign, Bush was accused of having sneaked away during the first Reagan campaign to Iran to make a deal with the ayatollahs not to release our embassy hostages until after the election, to increase Reagan's chances. The accusation fell apart when the accusers couldn't name a date. All their credibility drained through that hole. Does anybody else feel shaky at the "holes" we're presenting? Here bin Laden was promptly buried at sea. And photos are far from forthcoming! The Southerner might allege, "They're hanging out the red lights and ain't got no girls inside!"
Don't expect many details. Gen. "Wild-Bill" Donovan, legendary founder of the wartime Office of Strategic Services, which later became the CIA, was begged by a Washington society lady to agree to accept her group's "Man of the Year" award for doing such a good job with America's intelligence.
He turned her down, saying, "Thank you, ma'am, but if you know enough about the job I've done to know it's a good job, then it's a bad job."

Sam, I have a gringo buddy ,up the hill who spent a lifetime working for United Fruit Co.. They, without doubt , have grown more bananas than anyone else in the world. Probably responsible for the economic development of central America. He only recently sold the last banana plantation he owned. He claims to be one of the first hippies. Right after the war,WWII. Barack Hussein Obama was humiliated when CIA Interrogators' 'Enhanced Interrogation Techniques' proved that he was wrong about their effectiveness. He was proven absolutely, dead wrong, as was every single Democrat/leftist/liberal/progressive/Ron Paul follower.
There is no doubt, for those of us living in reality, that enhanced interrogation works
But Obama didn't just refuse, but rudely walked away, turning his back, on a 9/11 victim's sister who asked Obama to ask Holder to stop the persecution/prosecution of CIA interrogators. He made it clear that 9/11 families who now realize that enhanced interrogation works, and who want the CIA to be able to use those crucial methods to break the resistance of terrorists who want all Americans to die or submit to Islamic Law (and become slaves/second-class citizens), and want the CIA interrogators who used such things as water boarding effectively and safely, to be free from government persecution.
Apparently, Obama isn't used to American citizens making such reasonable requests, because he treated her like a poisonous snake the moment he realized she cared about this issue, the freedom of the American patriots who help to defend America. He gets angry if somebody wants freedom and justice for those who have sworn to protect us.

Debra Burlingame, who lost her pilot brother on 9/11 when his plane crashed into the Pentagon, had a reportedly chilly exchange with President Barack Obama today. During a meeting with a select group of 9/11 families, Obama greeted Burlingame and even hugged her after a few pleasantries.
But when Burlingame asked about Eric Holder’s plan to file criminal charges against CIA interrogators, Obama’s friendly manner allegedly stiffened.
Burlingame asked Obama if he would voice his opinion to Holder on the matter of the investigation of the CIA interrogators. She said, “I know that as a former attorney … you can’t tell the AG what to do in an investigation, but these [the interrogators] are unsung heroes….and they have been exonerated in two justice department investigations. But that didn’t satisfy Eric Holder….Would you, in light of what’s happened, speak to him about standing them [the investigating prosecutors] down?”
Obama allegedly responded that Burlingame is right, that he cannot tell Holder how to conduct his investigation. Burlingame jumped in, saying, yes but “You can give him your opinion, will you do that?”
Obama said, “No I won’t.” And then he allegedly turned and walked away.
Burlingame suggested, “You can do it privately.”
Obama allegedly responded, “No.

This administration will defend our enemies, but not stand with those who do their jobs in protecting our country! How much more clear can it be? Why did the DOJ let the Black Panther threats go unpunished? Why do they seek to please the Muslims at our patriots' expense? Political correctness only goes one way with this socialistic agenda! BO cannot stand the real truth and won't acknowledge what really enabled bin Laden to be found! He needs an attitude adjustment and a heart transplant so he will have a heart for America, not just for our enemies!

Can you say "photo op for 2012?" I don't buy his portrayal of a sympathetic Commander-in-Chief; it is all for his political gain. I think his entire itinerary after Osama's death was strictly aimed at re-election.

Why is it American citizens elect such dispicable men to hold the position of President of the United States of America?
Why is it American citizens are not capable of asserting enough pressure with their elected representatives and senators to investigate a man who, obviously, did not and does not meet the CONSTITUTIONAL qualifications to be president and who after taking his Oath of Office (twice) has continued to violate his Oath to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America?

Secondly, Obama is a coward. Got himself elected on a false message. Took advantage of "useful idiots" ...their termonology,not mine. Props himself through deceitfulness, confussion and lies. He is nothing but smoke and mirrors. We all saw Wizard of Oz and know what I am talking about. Dont expect anything less than a coward who turns his back on America. Why is anyone shocked?

Capturing Bin Laden is the only thing the Obama Administration has done right so far, and it's as if they're trying to botch even that. I suspect that Obama and his top advisors have known where UBL has been for the past 1-2 years or so, but intentionally wanted to wait for the "right political moment" to go after him. Obama probably didn't want to take any action at all to take UBL out, but was probably vastly overruled by his staff. Only Valerie Jarrett wanted to leave UBL alone.
Rather than modifying his position, and admitting that enhanced interrogation techniques work after all, Obama felt like snubbing the 9-11 victim's family member. Obama doesn't like admitting his mistakes.
It's up to Obama to prove that he cares more about Americans than "citizens of the world", and that he, himself, isn't some kind of Muslim plant that has infiltrated the White House, that should also be kept secret.

It is so sad that this administration is on the side of the enemy. These soliders and other personel are keeping us safe and sacrificing the ultimate service to this country. And yet this president will not recognize them or stop penalizing them for doing what they are trained to do.

Capturing Bin Laden is the only thing the Obama Administration has done right so far, and it's as if they're trying to botch even that. I suspect that Obama and his top advisors have known where UBL has been for the past 1-2 years or so, but intentionally wanted to wait for the "right political moment" to go after him. Obama probably didn't want to take any action at all to take UBL out, but was probably vastly overruled by his staff. Only Valerie Jarrett wanted to leave UBL alone.
Rather than modifying his position, and admitting that enhanced interrogation techniques work after all, Obama felt like snubbing the 9-11 victim's family member. Obama doesn't like admitting his mistakes.
It's up to Obama to prove that he cares more about Americans than "citizens of the world", and that he, himself, isn't some kind of Muslim plant that has infiltrated the White House, that should also be kept secret.
