Hearing aid specialists (audiologists) have been performing tests and ordering hearing aids for patients throughout medical history. These are honest people making a decent living. The shame is that the science of miniaturization is being paid for at an exhorbitant price to most of us patients.

I paid out about $25,000 throughout the several years of buying hearing aids until friends told me to go to the Veterans Administration. I was retested there and they ordered two of the newest digital behind the ear (kind I wanted) hearing aids. These came at no out of pocket cost to me.

I empathize with you, Marge, and with all patients who face the normally uncovered expense of obtaining hearing aids.

It is a penalty (not being able to afford the help that is available) the pensioners of America suffer. Surely the elitist representatives of us can do something to help their senior citizens.

To all: I have had it with ear doctors and the hi cost of hearing aids. I have a hearing loss in my right ear and per the ear doc, I should purchase a pair of hearings aids. He
suggested 2 and the cost is $2,500 for one. I cannot afford this. Medicare and Blue Shield/Blue Cross my insurance companies do not pay for hearing aids. Having talked to several friends who bought digital hearing aids, some have had problems with them and cannot wear them; tried to get their money reimbursed and no go; some don't have any problems, but paid a high price for theirs. DON'T know about you all, but hearing loss is a serious matter and this has not been covered under the new Health Care Plan.
So, I thought I would give this letter a shot to my VA congressmen and senators plus NARFE President in hopes that someone will do something for us Americans, Disability folks and the next generation as I believe they will all be deaf when they reach 65 if they are lucky. If any of you feel the same way as I do, maybe you would consider writing a similar letter to your congressmen and senators soon. I wonder if we all pull together, maybe Congress can do something for us who can use a hearing aid or in the near future as we age. Thanks for reading this. Ignore my mistakes if you find any. Marge

SUBJECT: Request for legislation to be developed to cap or control the
high cost of hearing exams and hearing aids for those who are in
need.

Per my understanding of the current Health Care Plan, there is nothing addressed in the House Bills relating to this necessary health care problem.
I feel very adamant that there is a need to cap or control the high costs of hearing aids being manufactured by companies selling their hearing aids via the ear doctors and their practices.

There are many young children, young adults and of course, those over 55 who need hearing aids. After having a hearing exam, the doctor explains to the individual that they need a hearing aid or may be two. The cost is discussed and come to find out these digital hearing aids start at $2,5000 to $8,000-$10,000 for one and, in some cases, if you are lucky, two. Medicare and health insurance companies do not cover any of this expense. Loss of hearing is becoming a national disease because of the noise pollution we are enduring in everyday life.

Those of us on a fixed income or disability social security cannot afford to purchase a hearing aid(s) due to this high cost. Many people, young and old, need hearing exams and good hearing aids, but our health care plan does not provide for this serious condition which is related to our health. Just think of all those drivers out there young and old who cannot hear well and can cause an accident. Look at all the young folks living with plugs in their ears walking and driving cars; just stop at a traffic light and listen to the next car owner playing his/her radio so loudly with closed windows and you can hear their music through your closed windows. Does this make sense to you? Don't you all think that our future generation of young adults will be deaf before they become seniors? How will they be able to afford hearing aids then if they cannot even afford them now. This is a very serious problem and a very expensive one for most families having children who do need hearing exams and hearing aids. Then you have those over 55 or older who really need hearing aids and cannot afford to purchase even one. Sometimes when someone does purchase a $2,500 or $5,000 hearing aid, it doesn't work and they cannot get reimbursed for the money they have spent even though they have been back to the doctor to adjust the new hearing aid. What is wrong with the manufacturer who developed these digital hearing aids in the first place? Are they not being tested by the ASTM?
If not, they should be.

For the benefit for many of the young adults and people over 55 that have a need for hearing aids, but cannot afford them, I am requesting that you, the Congressmen and Senators that I have voted into Congress, consider developing legislation to assure that all health insurance companies & the Medicare Program include in their policy coverage for hearing exams and hearing aids.
Hearing loss is a very serious matter and should be covered by any health care plan being considered for public law.

On the closing of GITMO and "HIS" war on what he no longer wants called the War On Terrorism - He's standing in quicksand with his head just about to go under. On a Comparison between himself and George W Bush at the same six months into Their respective first term Presidencies - Bush is ahead of him in the Polls. On a comparison between He Who Walks On Water and
the 12 preceding Presidents between WW II and now - Obama ranks 10th. On a Poll just Conducted, that asks who would you vote for today between Obama and Mitt Romney - It's a dead heat. Between Obama and Palin - Obama's ONLY ahead by 8 Points and she hasn't even begun to campaign. It seems to me that Obama Wants to be everywhere where he shouldn't be.

He's personally invested in [totally insulting] America 's ONLY REAL Middle Eastern ally ( Israel ) in favor of Palestinian Despots and Murderers. He's traveling the world apologizing for the USA while lecturing others on how to do it right, when in fact and truth he has no experience at doing anything other than getting elected.

He went to the Moslem world in Egypt to declare that America IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION while he heaped praises on Islam, where he compared the "plight" of the Palestinians to the Holocaust.

The Russians think he's a putz, The French think he's rude.

The Germans want him to stop spending.

The Indians want him to mix his nose out of their environmental business.

The North Koreans think he's a joke, The Iranians won't acknowledge his calls.

And the British can't even come up with a comprehensive opinion of him.

As for the Chinese, he's too frightened to even glance their way. [After All, China now owns a large portion of the United States .]

Maybe if America 's first Emperor would stay home more, travel less, and work A little bit instead of being on television just about

everyday (or forget About his Wednesday Date Nights with his Amazon Wife) or stop running to "papered" Town Hall Meetings, perhaps he would have a little bit of time to Do the work of the nation.

In all fairness, it wasn't HARD to be RIGHT in my prediction concerning Obama's presidency, even in its first six months, so I'm going to make yet another prediction:

OBAMA WILL PROBABLY NOT FINISH HIS 4-YEAR TERM, at least not in a Conventional way.

He is such a political HORROR SHOW, and so detrimental to the USA and his Own Democratic Party, that the Democrats themselves will either FORCE him to Resign or figure out a way to have him thrown out.

Who knows, maybe he really isn't a BORN US Citizen and that's a way the Democrats will be able to get rid of him. [He is a citizen, but not a naturalized citizen with both mother and father being US citizens.]

Or - MORE LIKELY THAN NOT, the Democrats will make Obama THEIR OWN LAME DUCK PRESIDENT.

I don't believe the Democrats have nearly as much love for their
country as they do for their own political fortunes. And with Obama, their fortunes are rapidly becoming toast.

The Democrats can keep on blaming Bush for EVERYTHING, but that game's already begun to wear real thin.

Their mantra was "WE DON'T WANT 4 MORE YEARS," which the STUPID people bought, since McCain was nothing at all like George W Bush.

The new mantra will soon become: "WE DON'T WANT 6 MORE MONTHS."

I'm a family practice doctor in Nebraska . I sent the following (angry, I admit) letter to Senator Nelson. I urge your readers (from Nebraska and elsewhere) to do likewise, in their own words!

Dear Senator Nelson:

I send this message under "Tort Reform" because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out. I will dedicate every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election.



The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can't wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your "compromises" on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly on-little-legislative-cat's-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won't wuss-out on this issue!

I know you won't give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I'm a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn't slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and 'Nanny' Pelosi will NOT be forgotten.

Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and 'diagnose' the problem, then charged another $180 to 'fix' the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit. Thank you for securing such a 'lucrative' rate for me! Thank you so much for making me-someone with 8 years of education!-make less than a mechanic or appliance repair technician. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent.

President asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy.'

One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a

over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy."

Apologies for 'o' cover up

Talk about Richard Nixon's cover up for his unnecessary panty raid of DNC, o has reportedly, not by national media of course, spent over $950,000 to cover up his life's background. Once again the e-mail promised "full report" of little o's life with his affilliations did not happen. Fox reported the 'coming program' the first time at least. Since then, our over-zealous email compatriots have indicated that it would come off and last night at 9 PM EST. It did not happen. Shame on all of us for seeking honesty in our presidents.

I apologize for raising the anxiety of all wanting the truth about this guy by reporting the expected FoxNews report on this blog.

Nobody is more disappointed than I am. I just do not like the idea of the USA having a muslim president, who wasn't even a natural born American citizen. He hasn't been heroic for sure!
