This is crazy.....It is true too! There is a link at the bottom of this to the
FDA website with the information. I want my friends and loved ones to know what
has happened to me in hopes that it will never happen to you Or anybody you care
about. About 10 days ago, I felt a cold coming on; so before I went to bed I
used Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel. It's supposed to help you "get over your cold
faster." Immediately after I sprayed it Into each nostril I felt the most
horrific burning sensation imaginable. It literally felt like I had sprayed
pepper spray directly into my brain. It burned all the way to the top of my
skull. My nasal passages swelled, my eyes watered - the burning lasted all night
long into the next day.
> After about a day, I realized I couldn't taste
anything and I thought, "Wow - I must really have a bad cold." Then I noticed
that I couldn't smell coffee brewing, couldn't smell my perfume when I put it
on, couldn't smell The popcorn I burned, couldn't smell my favorite candle. I
panicked and starting smelling everything that I Could find that had really
strong odors - ammonia, finger nail polish remover, bleach, etc. I couldn't
smell ANYTHING! I started tasting everything that had really strong tastes such
as HOT salsa, raw red onions, Doritos, coffee. I couldn't taste ANYTHING!
> I told my mother about this and she said, "Oh, I've heard Zicam can
affect your Olfactory nerve." I went Online, typed in "Zicam side effects" and
bam - up popped all sorts of web sites with people reporting the Same thing I
experienced. It seems that this past June, Zicam pulled the swabs for adults and
children off The shelf but not the nasal gel.
> I went to my ENT and he
said the Zicam had basically "FRI ED " my Olfactory nerve and the results are
Most likely permanent . He put me on a strong dose of a steroid called
Prednisone in hopes of recovering ANY bit of the nerve damage but he told me to
"take this and pray." He said he had read about the side Effects of Zicam and
couldn't believe it is still on the shelf. It isn't FDA approved. I am taking
the Prednisone and praying but nothing is happening. I LITERALLY CANNOT SMELL OR
TASTE ANYTHING! I can tell if foods are hot or cold, I can tell the consistency
and I can faintly detect if it is salty but that is it. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
pass this on to everyone you care about. I don't want this to happen to ANYONE
else!!!!!!!!!! And if you have Zicam in your medicine cabinet--THROW IT AWAY!
Please share with everyone you can. The link below confirms. If you don̢۪t have
a browser for the internet…this is only the fda/government confirmation! Http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm167065.htm

Welcome
Welcome to my blog http://www.skegley.blogspot.com/ . CAVEAT LECTOR- Let the reader beware. This is a Christian Conservative blog. It is not meant to offend anyone. Please feel free to ignore this blog, but also feel free to browse and comment on my posts! You may also scroll down to respond to any post.
For Christian American readers of this blog:
I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.
The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!
A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:
"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."
Thanks Jack!
I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Men and the Abortion Debate
In thinking out loud on February 7, 2012 at 2:46 pmHere is the other half of the abortion issue.
A woman gets pregnant. She has three choices:
a. Give Birth
b. Abortion
c. Adoption.
b. Abortion
c. Adoption.
The man has no choice in the matter. Yet, this baby is a part of him as well. Even so, the woman can decide to murder the baby and the man has no choice in the matter. In my opinion, if it is only the woman’s choice as to what to do with “her body,” the man should have choices as well.
A man should be able to decide from the outset whether he wants to be a father or not. Just as the woman makes this decision. However, this is not what happens. If the woman wants to murder the baby, the man has no choice. Zero recourse. If the woman wants to keep the baby, the man has no choice and must pay for this child for the next 18 to 23 years. The man is basically held for ransom for 18 to 23 years of his life. He is at the mercy of the woman. He is expected to support this baby and, often times, the woman/mother.
I thought that we were all about equal rights in America. There is no equality in this relationship.
A man should have the right to decline Fatherhood in the exact same way that women are given the right to decline Motherhood. As long as abortion is legal, Fatherhood should also be a choice. If the man wants to have nothing to do with the woman and/or the baby, he should have that choice. Period.
Abortion = Choice
Even though it is the equivalent of legal murder.
Legal Abortion should be a choice given to men as well. A man should have the right to abort the child in a LEGAL sense. The man should be allowed to choose to not have the child in the exact same way as the woman has the right to choose to not have the child.
Anything less is discriminatory. Anything else is immoral.

- Dawood,You make an interesting case. This old fashioned guy would say ‘abstinence’ is the better choice, but is tough to be made in foresight.Early on, before I was even a teenager, a noted judge in Portsmouth Ohio was getting his haircut while I and a couple of friends waited our turn. Henry Mckee, our barber, was conversing with the judge about teenagers and sex. The judge looked around the shop and said: “i tell these young fellows: “Just keep your pecker in your pants”.Our high school civics teacher, Bill Rohr, was good at involving all students in his classroom discussions. He would pose a topic or question at the beginning of each class. He once asked: “Why do you think your parents set curfew times for your dates?” That evoked many comments about the old people being out of touch (over 60 years ago). At the end of the session, Coach Rohr said: “Well, studies have shown that when two people of the opposite sex get together alone in a car after even 10 PM and get to ‘petting’ and go too far, neither one of them want to reach up and turn the key off.”SamKat7 February 2012 at 3pm

Coach John Calipari's radio program
I just listened to the Coach Cal show on my computer (630 AM Lexington). Opposition programs knock our coach, but he is restoring Kentucky basketball to its proper place for us Kentucky fans.
Tonight he had former coach Joe B. Hall join him. Coach Hall, a terrific former coach himself, has become a great friend of Cal's. They each, along with Coach Adolph Rupp and Coach Rick Pitino (when he also coached the Cats), mean so much to Kentucky fans throughout the Commonwealth. I like to mention Coach Rupp's Harry Lancaster along with Coach Cal's John Robich and the other coaches on each staff, as great teacher/coaches.
Cal is happy with the progress of the current team and Coach Hall agrees. They each are concerned about the team peaking at the right time. Coach Cal says the seat he holds at UK is not for everyone and he is correct. Coach Hall agrees.
It is conceivable, Cal says that seven players may be drafted after this season. Seven! He also empathizes that his greatest legacy will be the young men who become millionaires in the pros. He enjoys that their families are becoming rich from many times lesser wealth backgrounds.
We "crazy" people who are Kentucky fans (as the coach calls us) love this coach and he deserves our admiration!

Portsmouth Clay's Former Coach Arch Justus died last Friday 2-3-1012.
I'm back. My young guru, Shawn Baird, came over and got me back onto my SamKat www.skegley.blogspot.com blog last night.I dumbly had signed onto Google Apps when I didn't need to and the business site gmail address was messing me up. I hope somebody missed my posts. I certainly did. Isn't it terrible to be an egotist? (Hopefully, I am not, but I did miss posting on the blog.)
Anyway, Clay Vice had told us about Arch Justus being sick Friday. We didn't hear here in Columbus, but, sadly, Coach Arch died Friday night at Riverside Hospital here in Columbus. Unknowingly, I called Columbus lawyer, Steve Fitch, and he met me at Riverside at 1:30 PM Sunday. Arch was not shown as a patient. Hospitals don't share such sad news with visitors other than close family. After spending a few minutes with Steve and giving him the two extra "Acquaintances With Integrity II" books he ordered for his sons, we departed. I called Clay and received the sad news that the coach had died Friday evening. Clay had sent Facebook notices out, but I don't get on facebook regularly.
I called Steve with the sad news.
I had called Arch a few times to interview him as one of the outstanding athletes or coaches of the Portsmouth area. There was always some sad health news going on in his family and we never got together for the interview. Clay told me Friday afternoon that he lost his mother and his wife within the last year and Arch had liver cancer, although his son, John, told Clay that the doctors expected him to survive.
Steve Fitch was on Arch's Clay High School basketball teams as a junior and senior but hardly saw action according to Steve. As a testament to good coaching, Steve walked on the next season at Ohio State and was the very last cut after a few weeks of tryouts. When he next saw Coach Justus, the coach was happily surprised for Steve. Steve told him that the fundamentals stressed at Ohio State were the same ones Coach Justus had used at Clay.
God bless the Justus family and one of Portsmouth's best coaches and the guy Clay tells me that Clay's former baseball coach Kenny Long told Clay that Arch Justus could have made the baseball major leagues if he didn't have bad knees. The witnesses said that Arch Justus could hit a baseball farther than any others of the very outstanding Ramey's Feed or Deemer's teams of bygone Portsmouth days.
In reality, we will all certainly die unless we remain on earth when Christ returns.

STRT For signs of a stroke ... thankls Lyle!
Subject: Fwd: Stroke has a new indicator - GOOD TO KNOW
Reminder
Stroke has a new indicatorThey say if you e.mail this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along?Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue
I will continue to forward this every time it comes around!
STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.....S. T. R.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and
Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A
SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(I.e. It is sunny out today.)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is
'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
I have done my part. Will you?
