For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s call to make Wednesday, Aug. 1 “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” has drawn a tremendous response — he tells Newsmax that more than 20 million people have viewed his Facebook event page to learn about the Day.

And more than half a million people have already said they will heed his call and eat at a Chick-fil-A restaurant on Wednesday to show their support for the chain that has come under attack from the left for promoting its Christian values.

The controversy began when Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that the family-owned company, which puts faith ahead of profits by closing on Sundays, was “guilty as charged” for backing the “biblical definition of a family.”

He later ratcheted up the rhetoric in a radio interview, saying: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’”

Gay rights groups responded by calling for a boycott of the business. The mayors of Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. told the chain it is not welcome in their cities and vowed to stop further expansion of the restaurants there.

Huckabee, a former Republican presidential candidate who now hosts a show on Fox News, responded quickly on his website, declaring: “I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick-fil-A company because.... Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld.”

He said the success of Chick-fil-A is “a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.”

And in an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday, he explained why he has called for the Appreciation Day.

“The media has called it a ‘protest.’ It is most certainly not,” he said. “No one is protesting anything. This is not a stand against a person, a group of people, or even someone else's belief. This is a simple act of having a meal at a place that sells chicken, not politics. It's to affirm to a Christian brother, Dan Cathy, that he has not been disenfranchised from his citizenship or his right of free speech as a taxpaying American. It is about taking a stand for businesses to be free of economic bullying and hate speech.

“It is an opportunity to have a decent meal at a decent place that was founded and continues to be run by decent people who believe in treating their customers and employees with kindness and to say ‘thank you’ to them.”

Asked what message he hopes to send with the event, Huckabee told Newsmax: “That the rules are the same on both sides of the issue.

“When Christians speak up and say what they believe, they are ridiculed and threatened by small militant minorities of groups that try to shut them down and shut them up by any means they can. People have a right to free speech in this country and we can’t let people take it away no matter what side we are on. I disagree with a lot of what other people say but I think they have a right to their opinion."

Huckabee talked further about that '"hypocrisy" on Tuesday on his radio show.
“[It is] ironic,” Huckabee said, that the left “is always talking about intolerant bigotry of the so-called ‘homophobes.’

“I’m just tired of having one side play by a completely different set of rules than I am supposed to play by.”

He continued saying it is the left that seems intolerant.

“There was, once, an attitude among those in the same-sex marriage community . . . who said why can’t we just live and let live?” Huckabee said.
“I guess they now believe that’s fine unless you happen to be a Christian. Then you can’t be who you are. Do you not see the irony here?

“You cannot have an America where one set of values are tolerated but another’s are not.”

As for tomorrow's events, he knows Americans will support the company.

“On Wednesday I hope there is a line out the door and around the block of every one of the over 1,600 Chick-fil-A restaurants. We have had over 20 million people reached in the last week through our Facebook page. We have over 515,000 people who have ‘RSVP’d’ for the event, and both of those numbers are still growing.”

Finally, Huckabee was asked if Chick-fil-A is prepared for the huge numbers of customers expected to visit one of the chain’s restaurants on Wednesday.

“I hope they are,” he responded. “One thing I do know about Chick-fil-A is they are an efficient company and a customer service-driven company, so I bet they excel tomorrow.

“They have great food, great service, and tomorrow they will have a great day.”

The Heart of a Leader
Ken Blanchard is a legend as a business author. He's written 25 books and his classic, The One Minute Manager, has sold over 15 million copies. Therefore, a few years ago, when he invited me to come up and spend a few days with him at his lake home in upstate New York, I jumped at the chance.

The first night of my visit to Ken's lake home, we were sitting on the deck with Humberto, his son-in-law, talking about some ways we could work together. It was about 10 p.m., when all of a sudden Ken jumped up and asked to be excused. He returned at about 10:20 and Humberto asked, "What happened?" Ken said,

"I can't believe it; I forgot to call Dorothy on her birthday."
Later that night, after Ken had gone to bed, Humberto told me that Dorothy is an 85-year-old part-time employee for the company. It then dawned on me that at 10 p.m. Ken left to spend almost 20 minutes talking to Dorothy and inquiring about how she had spent her special day. However, after spending more time with Ken over the next year, I came to realize that this was no fluke. This is who he is. The last time while visiting him at his San Diego office, I learned that one of his employees who worked in the warehouse had recently passed away. On that day, Ken had invited the employee's wife to come to his office. When she arrived, he spent an hour walking around with her carrying a tape recorder to record all of the wonderful memories that other employees had of her husband. When the wife left she said it was a day she'd never forget.

You see, what many leaders would have considered a waste of time, Ken saw as an opportunity to serve and to thank his people. He doesn't do it because it's expected of him, he does it because he truly cares. It comes from his heart, and his people love him for being the servant leader that he is.

Therefore, I could have searched the world over, and not found a better person to write a book titled, The Heart of a Leader. Ken Blanchard walks the talk, and is one of the best leaders I've ever met.

Today, I'd like to share a brief excerpt from The Heart of a Leader, by Ken Blanchand. Enjoy!

The Heart of a Leader

A river without banks is a large puddle ~ Ken Blanchard
Start your people on a journey to the land of empowerment, but don't forget that they need boundaries. If you cut them loose without any direction, they will get lost and revert back to their old unempowered habits. Like the banks of a river, boundaries have the ability to channel energy in the right direction. If you take away the boundaries, your people will lose their momentum and direction. Boundaries that create autonomy include:

Purpose—what does your company do?
Values—what are your company's operational guidelines?
Goals—where is your company headed?
Roles—who does what?
Structure—how is your company organized?

Don't send inexperienced people off alone and then punish them when they make mistakes. Establish clear boundaries that will free them to make decisions, take initiative, act like owners, and stay on track.
What you just read is one of almost 100 nuggets of wisdom on leadership. When I first read the manuscript, it was a wow! There's more wisdom per square inch than any leadership book I've ever read. Therefore, if you're a leader, this book is a must read. If you know a leader...it makes a perfect gift for any occasion.

10 reasons not to vote for Mitt romney ... Thanks Sarah D. R.!

Subject: 10-reasons-not-to-vote-for-mitt-romney

1. Drop-dead, collar-ad handsome with gracious, statesmanlike aura.
Looks like every central casting’s #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.
2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.
3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. ( How boring is that?)
4. Can’t speak in a fake, southern, ” black preacher voice ” when up at the podium.
5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School
. . . and by the way, his academic records are NOT sealed.
6. Doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college.
Too square for today’s America?
7. Represents an America of “yesterday”, where people believed in God, went to Church, didn’t screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!
8. Has a family of five great sons …. and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab.
But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that “choice” alone has prompted America’s scorn.
9. Oh yes . . . he’s a MORMON.
We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally responsible,
charitable, self-reliant, and honest. Compare Romney’s Mormonism with the rhetoric of Jeremiah Wright.
10. And one more point . . . pundits say because of his wealth, he can’t relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that’s because he made that money HIMSELF
. . . as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad.
Apparently, he didn’t understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you un-relatable and offensive to Americans.

Message to all Christians from Pastor John Hagee

Thanks Sarah D. R.!
But there are 99 more days until Nov. 6, 2012.  Let us pray without ceasing for this great cause for America and for the world.

Subject: FW: Pastor John Hagee On Prayer!

Message to ALL Christians in America from Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio , Texas .

Greetings to all of our Salt Covenant Partners and friends across the nation and around the world.
First, I want to express my profound appreciation to President Barak Obama for doing what all of the Republican candidates have not been able to do for months: he unified the Bible-believing church in America in one week over the issue of abortion.

When the President ordered the Catholic Church to provide contraceptives to prevent the birth of new life, he hit a nerve in the heart of every true Catholic and Evangelical.

Being a politician, he will attempt to compromise his position until after the election and then release the full power of government to force the church to obey the state. Think about this! If he made this bold statement before the election, consider how brutal he will be if he is re-elected!

I have said it before and I will say it again: the election on November 6, 2012 for the office of President is the day of decision for America . Four more years of Obama will bring absolute socialism to America . Our children and grand-children will never know the greatness of America that we have experienced. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN!
FORTY DAYS OF PRAYER
I am asking the Christians of America to join us in 40 days of prayer for this Presidential election. These 40 days of prayer will begin on September 28, 2012. You can do it individually or in groups, but prayer is the most powerful force God has given us to bring our nation back to righteousness. I'll be saying more about this as the year progresses, but mark it on your calendar and start telling your family, friends, and church members NOW about the 40 days of prayer.

Sincerely,

Pastor John Hagee
