The sitting President of the USA (PUSA) said he didn't like the national anthem and wanted to replace it during his campaign. Many Christians voted for this guy. They should contemplate their actions.

Dr. Asimov, primarily known for writing science fiction, was a Jewish Russian immigrant. - January 2, 1920 - April 6, 1992 (72) His family emigrated to the United States when he was three years old. Since his parents always spoke Yiddish and English with him, he never learned Russian. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Asimov taught himself to read at the age of five, and remained fluent in Yiddish as well as English.

“I have a weakness--I am crazy, absolutely nuts, about our national anthem.
The words are difficult and the tune is almost impossible, but frequently when I'm taking a shower I sing it with as much power and emotion as I can. It shakes me up every time.
I was once asked to speak at a luncheon. Taking my life in my hands, I announced I was going to sing our national anthem--all four stanzas. This was greeted with loud groans. One man closed the door to the kitchen, where the noise of dishes and cutlery was loud and distracting. "Thanks, Herb," I said.
"That's all right," he said. "It was at the request of the kitchen staff."
I explained the background of the anthem and then sang all four stanzas.
Let me tell you, those people had never heard it before--or had never really listened. I got a standing ovation. But it was not me; it was the anthem.
More recently, while conducting a seminar, I told my students the story of the anthem and sang all four stanzas. Again there was a wild ovation and prolonged applause. And again, it was the anthem and not me.
So now let me tell you how it came to be written.”
In 1812, the United States went to war with Great Britain, primarily over freedom of the seas. We were in the right. For two years, we held off the British, even though we were still a rather weak country. Great Britain was in a life and death struggle with Napoleon. In fact, just as the United States declared war, Napoleon marched off to invade Russia. If he won, as everyone expected, he would control Europe, and Great Britain would be isolated. It was no time for her to be involved in an American war.
At first, our seamen proved better than the British. After we won a battle on Lake Erie in 1813, the American commander, Oliver Hazard Perry, sent the message "We have met the enemy and they are ours." However, the weight of the British navy beat down our ships eventually. New England, hard-hit by a tightening blockade, threatened secession.
Meanwhile, Napoleon was beaten in Russia and in 1814 was forced to abdicate. Great Britain now turned its attention to the United States, launching a three-pronged attack. The northern prong was to come down Lake Champlain toward New York and seize parts of New England. The southern prong was to go up the Mississippi, take New Orleans and paralyze the west. The central prong was to head for the mid-Atlantic states and then attack Baltimore, the greatest port south of New York. If Baltimore was taken, the nation, which still hugged the Atlantic coast, could be split in two. The fate of the United States, then, rested to a large extent on the success or failure of the central prong.
The British reached the American coast, and on August 24, 1814, took Washington, D. C. Then they moved up the Chesapeake Bay toward Baltimore. On September 12, they arrived and found 1000 men in Fort McHenry, whose guns controlled the harbor. If the British wished to take Baltimore, they would have to take the fort.
On one of the British ships was an aged physician, William Beanes, who had been arrested in Maryland and brought along as a prisoner. Francis Scott Key, a lawyer and friend of the physician, had come to the ship to negotiate his release. The British captain was willing, but the two Americans would have to wait. It was now the night of September 13, and the bombardment of Fort McHenry was about to start.
As twilight deepened, Key and Beanes saw the American flag flying over Fort McHenry. Through the night, they heard bombs bursting and saw the red glare of rockets. They knew the fort was resisting and the American flag was still flying. But toward morning the bombardment ceased, and a dread silence fell. Either Fort McHenry had surrendered and the British flag flew above it, or the bombardment had failed and the American flag still flew.
As dawn began to brighten the eastern sky, Key and Beanes stared out at the fort, tyring to see which flag flew over it. He and the physician must have asked each other over and over, "Can you see the flag?"
After it was all finished, Key wrote a four stanza poem telling the events of the night. Called "The Defence of Fort McHenry," it was published in newspapers and swept the nation. Someone noted that the words fit an old English tune called "To Anacreon in Heaven" --a difficult melody with an uncomfortably large vocal range. For obvious reasons, Key's work became known as "The Star Spangled Banner," and in 1931 Congress declared it the official anthem of the United States.
Now that you know the story, here are the words. Presumably, the old doctor is speaking. This is what he asks Key.
Oh! say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
W hat so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
Oh! say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
"Ramparts," in case you don't know, are the protective walls or other elevations that surround a fort. The first stanza asks a question. The second gives an answer
On the shore, dimly seen thro' the mist of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep.
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream
'Tis the star-spangled banner. Oh! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
"The towering steep" is again, the ramparts. The bombardment has failed, and the British can do nothing more but sail away, their mission a failure.
In the third stanza, I feel Key allows himself to gloat over the American triumph. In the aftermath of the bombardment, Key probably was in no mood to act otherwise.
During World War II, when the British were our staunchest allies, this third stanza was not sung. However, I know it, so here it is
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
The fourth stanza, a pious hope for the future, should be sung more slowly than the other three and with even deeper feeling.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation,
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n - rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause is just,

US Constitution and checks and balances
American military personnel have sacrificed all over this world for our freeedoms. The constitution is widely revered by most, but the object of change now by some.
With our nearly forgotten education of our country's birth, the fact that checks and balances were established early on has dwindled in many citizens' memories.
Three branches remain but for how long. The top judicial branch is the Supreme Court. It is normally an extreme political battle to get an appointee into the court and newbies enter with somewhat of a left or right bias. The legislative or law making branch- senators and representatives- are mainly lawyers and certainly of left or right bends. The President or executive branch is the executor or the enforcer.

Hey guys! It's been so long since I've posted last. I'm glad to be back posting!
Just wanted to let you know personally what I'm most excited about! I know we have the best recruiting class in the nation, I know that we are getting a lot of publicity back to our program, I know we have a great recruiter (hoping he does well with his X and O's), but what I'm most excited about is we are finally getting back to the uptempo style offense that I have so much missed since Pitino left. It is so exciting to have that back and I cannot wait to watch the first game. I know the grind it out style works for some people, but I just am loving the thought that our uptempo style is back!

This is why i wanted someone like Calipari,Donavon,Ford,Pelphrey,or even Sean Miller. I would have taken Mike Anderson if it came down to it. I just wanted someone here to coach who in my mind gave us a chance to get back to the up and down style of play that i absolutely love to watch..............

While I can't speak for soldier1969....and the passing isn't "THE" thing I'm MOST excited about....I can definitely understand where he's coming from. Because I am really looking forward to the passing from Eric Bledsoe and John Wall.
Bledsoe and Wall just might be....THE TWO BEST passers that we have EVER seen at Kentucky. And on the floor at the same time together?!?!?!? With at least one likely to be on the court at all times?!?!? Not to mention, if he learns to play under control....DeAndre Liggins is a pretty good passer as well. And from the SF position, we probably haven't seen a passer the likes of Darius Miller in quite some time. Not to mention, Daniel Orton is one of the best outlet passers after a rebound and starting the break that I have seen from a high school senior. He's kind of reminiscent of Kevin Love when he was a freshman at UCLA in that regard.
So yeah....I can see why someone would be excited about the passing. I'm looking forward to ALL aspects of the game, though. The only thing I somewhat cringe at, though, is the three point shooting. But if Wall or Bledsoe can just be respectable, Darius Miller has improved, and Dodson and Cousins (yes, Cousins) get several open looks from three point range (not sure yet if Hood will see enough PT to be a big contributor his freshman year)....and we are respectable in that area.....then rebounding, defense, penetrating, passing and E-V-E-R-Y aspect of the game should be in very good shape....

I agree with soldier!I think the passing is going to be unbelievable, i would almost guarantee that who ever get out front 1st. is going to get a pass.You will see more uncontested dunks in the 1st 5 games than we saw all last season.Take it to the bank! GO CATS!......Rocky

The up tempo style of play is what I am looking forward to the most. Up and down the court at break neck speed...scoring in the 100 point range on multiple games. What will make it even better is that we have such great athletes on this team that we will undoubtedly make highlight reels on ESPN on a regular basis. No more watching the tube waiting for our 20 second mention. Everyone that's not a CAT FAN will be not be able to stand watching sportscenter by the time December rolls around.

And that's what I can't wait to hear - the rest of em complaining...I believe this could be the most prolific passing team ever assembled in college ball - these guys have an uncanny ability to score or pass (based on the highlight clips I've seen)...I truly believe our assist stats will be stagering to other teams. I am so reday to see these young men take the court! I think this team has the potential to become so close - and the teamwork so incredible on the court - I am really excited for our season to start.

I totally agree. Even Tubby's best teams weren't as exciting as Pitino's. I love the run and gun.

I am most exicted to see the team play mostly the guards cant wait to see if miller,stevenson,harris has improved I really want to see patterson I have read some were that coach cal wanted to work with patrick's shooting there is alot to get exicted for in this 2009-10 season it should be a great season

Truthfully...and I don't mean to be mean....just telling it like it is...but looking forward to seeing anything about Ramon and/or Perry is like looking forward to that McDonald's cheeseburger. You know what you're going to get, and it ain't all that great. I'd much rather look forward to that Ruby Tuesday's "new" deluxe bacon double swiss burger with the special sauce that is about to be launched (just using an imaginary illustration to illustrate my point)

John Calipari was an excellent basketball coach before he incorporated the dribble drive motion offense into his coaching, just about four years ago, I believe. He often utilizes a three quarter court press if I am not mistaken.
It will probably be even more exciting, and even tougher, when the rest of college basketball catches up and uses his tactics.
The former coach's teams had to be among the worst passing teams in America. Turnover City! If our hopes on terrific passing are realized, please pinch me. I will think this sinner has been forgiven all and is in Heaven.

But if Wall or Bledsoe can just be respectable, Darius Miller has improved, and Dodson and Cousins (yes, Cousins) get several open looks from three point range (not sure yet if Hood will see enough PT to be a big contributor his freshman year)....and we are respectable in that area.....then rebounding, defense, penetrating, passing and E-V-E-R-Y aspect of the game should be in very good shape....

I agree with soldier!I think the passing is going to be unbelievable, i would almost guarantee that who ever get out front 1st. is going to get a pass.You will see more uncontested dunks in the 1st 5 games than we saw all last season.Take it to the bank! GO CATS!......Rocky

The up tempo style of play is what I am looking forward to the most. Up and down the court at break neck speed...scoring in the 100 point range on multiple games. What will make it even better is that we have such great athletes on this team that we will undoubtedly make highlight reels on ESPN on a regular basis. No more watching the tube waiting for our 20 second mention. Everyone that's not a CAT FAN will be not be able to stand watching sportscenter by the time December rolls around.

And that's what I can't wait to hear - the rest of em complaining...I believe this could be the most prolific passing team ever assembled in college ball - these guys have an uncanny ability to score or pass (based on the highlight clips I've seen)...I truly believe our assist stats will be stagering to other teams. I am most exicted to see the team play mostly the guards cant wait to see if miller,stevenson,harris has improved I really want to see patterson I have read some were that coach cal wanted to work with patrick's shooting there is alot to get exicted for in this 2009-10 season it should be a great season

John Calipari was an excellent basketball coach before he incorporated the dribble drive motion offense into his coaching, just about four years ago, I believe. He often utilizes a three quarter court press if I am not mistaken.
It will probably be even more exciting, and even tougher, when the rest of college basketball catches up and uses his tactics.
The former coach's teams had to be among the worst passing teams in America. Turnover City! If our hopes on terrific passing are realized, please pinch me. I will think this sinner has been forgiven all and is in Heaven.

My Attorney-
After living what I felt was a 'decent' life, my time on earth came to the end.
The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house.
The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table.
As I looked around I saw the 'prosecutor.'
He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me.
He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.
I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to
me, I felt I knew Him.
The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes.
He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room I couldn't take my eyes off of Him.
As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, 'Let us begin.'
The prosecutor rose and said,
'My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man belongs in hell.'
He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole, and In the past when I cheated others Satan told of other horrible
Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.
I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely
forgotten about.
As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not Offering any form of defense at all.
I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done?
Satan finished with a fury and said, 'This man belongs in hell,
he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person
who can prove otherwise.'
When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench.
The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan,
and beckoned Him to come forward.
As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in
His full splendor and majesty..
I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus representing me,
my Lord and my Savior.
He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, 'Hi,
Dad,' and then He turned to address the court.
'Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned, I won't deny any of these allegations.
And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this man deserves to be
punished.
Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with
outstretched arms and proclaimed, 'However, I died on the cross so
that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine.'
My Lord continued with, 'His name is written in the Book of Life,and no one can snatch him from Me.
Satan still does not understand yet. This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy.'

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.
One nurse took her copy to Missouri. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.
Crabby Old Man
What do you see nurses? . . What do you see?
What are you thinking . . . . . when you're looking at me?
A crabby old man, . ... . not very wise,
Uncertain of habit .. . . . ... . . .. with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food . . .. . . .. . and makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice .. . . . .. 'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . .. . the things that you do...
And forever is losing .. . . . .. . . . . . a sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not, . . . . .. . .. . . . lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding..... the long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?....... Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse . .. . . . you're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am....... As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, . . . . . . as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of ten .. . . . . .. with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters . . ... .. . . . . . who love one another.
A young boy of sixteen . . with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now . . . ... ... . . a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at twenty ...... my heart gives a leap.
Remembering the vows . . . . .. .. that I promised to keep.
At twenty-five, now .. . . . . . . . I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide .. . .. .. And a secure happy home.
A man of thirty . . . .. ... . . .. . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . . . .. . . With ties that should last.
At forty, my young sons .. . have grown and are gone,
But my woman's beside me . . . . . . .. to see I don't mourn..
At fifty, once more, babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . .. . .. . . My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me . ..... my wife is now dead.
I look at the future ... ... . . . . .. . . . shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing .. . . ... . .. young of their own.
And I think of the years . . . and the love that I've known.
I'm now an old man . . . .. . . .. .. . and nature is cruel.
'Tis jest to make old age . . . . look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles . . . . . . . grace and vigor, depart.
There is now a stone . . .. .. . . . where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass . ... a young guy still dwells,
And now and again .. . . .. . . . my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys . . . . . . . . . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . . . .. . ... . . .. life over again.
I think of the years, all too few . . . . . . gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . . . . that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people . .. . . . . . . open and see.
Not a crabby old man.. Look closer . . . . see ME!!
Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within ... . . . we will all, one day, be there, too!
