Sam,
Lovell's youngest sister was Jo Ann, the middle sister was Lois, (both real beauties) and I believe the older sister was May but not 100% on that one.
When I contacted Lovell for a Scioto Co. Roundup party, he was living in Marietta, Ga. That was in 1996.
He took the time to write me with his regrets and told me he remembered John And Ethel, me, and our chow dog, Peggy.
Gib Lakeman lived at that time across the street from Skip Beekman and spent a lot of time at Lovell's house.
Maybe more because of Lois than Lovell.

I also remember Bob Snyder, Jack, and Lois was Lovell's sister's name. Ron walters told me that he was in touch with Lovell a while back and I beleieve he is in Charlotte or Atlanta. I am copying Ron and I hope he or any others chips in here. Ron is a young guy, exactly one year younger than me to the day. Ron lives in the Dayton area.
This internet is wonderful. It is just like we are in the land of the four trees, now three due to lightning, and chatting on a park bench. I love your nostalgia, Jack. Keep it up. Have you heard from Dave H. yet?

Sam, Lovell and I started school together at Garfield and remained
close for a lifetime.. I know the lovely sister of whom you are
speaking.I seem to remember Lois( no Guarantee) Their parents had a
penchant for odd names. One of which she had also..Lovell and Jim
Cassidy were best buddies. Both outstanding people.. Bob Snyder ran
with them a good bit also.( Great left hand pitcher) I don't know what
happened to Cass but the last time Jim Fout spoke with him in Calif. ,
he was quite ill. What's the old adage," All the great men are passing
on and I don't feel so good myself. Anyway when we play H O R S E we
won't worry about wheelchairs just a new rule. No jumping shots
permitted. Remind me to tell you some time about Paul Walker getting
Cassidy and Snyder to come out for football. He had three excellent
reasons.. Made them better rebounders iproved their speedand backed
up( we had none) Bobby Parks and Gus Thompson( a park guy too.)

Yeah, I understood that Gene became a CEO of a northern South America
company. I hope it isn't in Chavez' Venezuela, but it might be. We have
discussed him before, and Bea, who I claim is a prettier and younger, but
older than me, Lauren Bacall. I knew Gene and not Bea, but he may not even
remember me. He and Don Delaney, a genius, always wore mocassins without
socks. The Heaths lived on Seventeenth, just a few doors west of Rase's
Service Station. Herbh, Hob Knob, was a friend of mine and he was more of a
park mainstay.
Yeah, we will have to play a game of wheelchair HORSE, Jack.
You should also know Lovell Meadows and Lon Cassady, Paul's older brother.
I can't think of Lovell's sister's name but they lived on the northwest
corner of Vinton and McConnell next to a really great friend of mine, Ronnie
Walters (PHS 51). She was an olive skinned beauty in the very highest class
of Portsmouth beauties.

Jack P.Sam, I see , on the side bar of one of Aarons Blogs an
advertisement for Basketball hoops If you feel moved to buy one of those
and put it up, maybe we could play a game or two of "horse"should I ever be
in your vicinity of Ohio. It's OK, we're both too old to fight. Another
name that should bounce about in your memory from the mound park days is
Gene "Heater" Heath. Played everything well, but was never on any kind of
team Probably developed into one of the best pool players to come out of
Portsmouth. Has made a life in central and South America. Has lived in
Guatemala the last fifteen or twenty years( if he is still alive'. Had a
lovely sister, named Bea, closer to your age.He, Jim Fout, and I roomed at
the same house for a couple of quarters at OSU. Lot of quality people used a
lot of quality time in that park.
