We bought Dave's house in Eden Park when he moved to Columbus. I called on him at a Newark plant and he moved on to Springfield where he and his wife divorced. She, too, was an excellent person. They were attending the Brethren Church in Worthington when we visited and he played softball with them. Flip was devastated when Dave was killed in an auto accident some years ago.

Sam, I don't know how well you knew Dave Spriggs, but he, like his
daddy,was
one of the nicest guys you ever knew. This is the story, I
liked as well as
the Middletown football game. A new guy in town(I've
forgotten who it was)
was gonna whip Flip's ass. Dave heard about it
and told the guy why don't you
just start with mine. You're gonna have
to get to it anyway if you whip Flip.
That stopped all the
threats.Dave was a year younger than I was, but all of
us on that
1944 team were close ,good, friends. Dave worked with a number of
us
at the N&W freight station on weekend and summer vacation. By the
way,
Pat James from New Boston worked with us also. He was Bear
Bryants
defensive line coach for years Played for him at UK....You know
about
UK, of course,,,,,,,,,,,,Bouncey ball !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
