Portsmouth has talent - Al Oliver Quote
The thing to notice from this "Island Packet newspaper quote, sent rio me ten years ago from Don Queen,Haverhill' Green township basketball star of the forties, is that Al Oliver is quoted in the upper right. Al was known to be confident when he played basketball and baseball for Portsmouth High School in southern Ohio, but none should doubt he could also 'walk the walk' as his .302 lifetime batting average in Major League Baseball attests.
Thank almighty God for Portsmouth's blessings in outstanding athletes. And to Mr. Don Queen for his outstanding contributions to the US before retiring as President of Investments for Cal State University, Northridge. He still has solid ideas for seniors and how the US can fix Social Security. Don has scored high throughout his life!
He sent me this copy back in 2005 , remembering my 2004 "Excellencies Athletics in the Portsmouth Area" book, and thusly, one of the few to remember me.
