I am really poor at history. In school, I felt the rote memory of dates and places was boring. I wish now I knew history better.
Somewhere in my learning, I came to believe a little of the probable migration of people from Northeastern Mongolia, across the Aleutians, into Alaska, and slowly down into the contiguous North American territories.
After our European immigrants came into the east and south and moved across our west, we eventually settled the land of those earlier inhabitants and made it ours. That did not come peacefully.
It grew to become the United States of America two Hundred forty years ago. God blessed the intelligent survivors who established our government after years from 1492 or thereabouts, through settling while putting native Americans into reservations for our national 'care'.
Some kind of miracle made these survivors establish a free Republic with Democratic ways of running this wonderful land between two great bodies of water. Throughout succeeding years we prospered under God's blessings.
Americans have formed the most generous population in the world, who have helped others suffering tribulation all over the globe. Those of us born into America have received the richest of blessings, although we still live under the liklihood of a few in big government obtaining control over the ways we have lived so freely. We honor our fighting people and we should also honor those ministers and teachers who have perptuated true good in people through their integrous lives.
Even in our Bible, we read of "wars and rumors of wars". The Mafia in America ruled their parts of the controlled society with the iron hand and not much benevolence. Our country has been more corrupted and has slowly deteriorated due to selfishness of a few.
Christian churches grew from a few wanting to encourage their faith to the great majority of the people; however, selfishness was not a teaching of these worshippers.
So much good teaching came from Jesus Christ, the son of the living God. Just this morning, a good friend forwarded an email message praising the great economic success of Walmart. Their management, began from the Waltons of Missouri, grew to higher economical success than any other business today, other than the riches of Middle Eastern oil countries. Success raises the thought of world control, which many governmental entities seem to morph into with their own selfish desires.
My simplistic thought is a happiness that our God is sitll in control of this universe. I certainly don't comprehend His wondrful plan, but I continue to believe it will be wonderful for those who accept His son and seek Heaven.
