Antifa: America's New Brown

Dear Sam, You may not know much about this radical leftist movement... ...but you've probably seen videos of its black dressed and masked storm troopers transforming protests in Berkeley and elsewhere into violent confrontations in which they use clubs, knives, brass knuckles and other weapons to attack "fascists," meaning anyone they disagree with. They are the new face of the radical left – the Antifa. (The name comes – deceptively – from "anti fascist.") It is an international movement that has made headlines in France and Germany with its willingness to confront police while "smashing capitalism." It has chapters but no central leadership. Its members are ready to fight – and hurt – the opposition. And in America this opposition is the conservatives that Antifa calls "fascists." That's why you've seen its members attacking pro-Trump events and bloodying the people who attend them. Antifa feels that America is irredeemably evil and can't be saved. That's why it has its gun sights on free speech and is locked and loaded and ready for civil war. I'm very concerned about these violent thugs and the way they are making street fighting an every day occurrence in American politics. To the degree that the mainstream media have noticed Antifa, they have taken it at its word that it as an "anti fascist" movement. But I know this is just more fake news. That's why I commissioned John Perrazo, editor of Discover the Networks and one of our country's true experts on the networks of the radical left, to look deeper into this dangerous movement.
