God Loves A Drunk ... Thx Judi C!
A loud pounding on the door awakened a man and his wife at 3:00 am. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. "Not a chance," says the husband, "it's 3:00 in the morning!" He slams the door and returns to "Who was that?" from his wife. "Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers. "Did you help him?" she asks. "No, I did not, it's 3 am in the morning and it's blooming well pouring with rain out there!" "Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself! God loves drunk people too, you know." The man does as he's told, gets dressed, and goes out into the yard. He calls out into the dark. "Hello, are you still there? "Yes," comes back the answer. "Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband. "Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark. "Where are you?" asks the husband. "Over here on the swing," replied the drunk.
Judi, You cannot believe the laugh Jeanie and I got out of this one.
A standing joke between her and me is of a Bickersons' radio line: Blanche, being a consistent nag, nudges John and says "I hear a nose downstairs." John sleepily reples, having had such nudges many times in the past, "Blanche, It's nothing. Go back to sleep." Persistent Blanche then says: "I don't care, John. Go down and see about it." "But Blanche! It's 2 AM! "I don't care John, go see!"
Naturally, it was nothing, but this gorgeous nagging Jeanie of mine, is persistent although she reminds me that all Kegleys are stubborn. My old Nesei sergeant friend, Noboru Yamamoto would always pester me when he might return to our Baracks very
and look at Jeanie's picture next to my bunk. He would look at Jeanie's Pic next to my bunk and nag me "Where you get such beautiful woman, boy?" We all called him Pop because he was 28 while we were mostly 20.
If you check this Sunday's Dispatch, you will catch that beautiful Jeanie's pic on the celebrations page of Life and Arts. She stayed with me for 66 years after refusing to go out with me when I first asked her two years prior. She "ain't a bad Lookin' dame!" as I normally nag her right back. I get up my courage now and then even though you must realize our family secret about her being New Boston's boxing Champion in 1948.
Ah ... Memories ...
Thx good Christian friend and UK fan, Judi!
