For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

How to act Presidential

Subject: HOW TO ACT "PRESIDENTIAL!"

1. Look them in the eye and give them a firm handshake.

No one appreciates a firm handshake more than a soldier.

2. If they prefer not to shake hands…

…then a chest bump will do.

Just make sure you do duck face afterward so they can laugh at you.

3. Admire their medals. They were hard-earned.

4. Always treat their families with great respect.

They have been through more than you could imagine.

I
5. Laugh with them!

Laughter is a medicine that works 102% of the time.

6. Sometimes it’s important that you treat a soldier
the way you would treat anyone else.

7. If you know a soldier, call them on the 4th of July.

It will make their day!

8. Or you can Skype them.

9. Each soldier has an amazing story.

10. Listen.

Listening is often the best gift you can give someone.

11. Give them a hug!

Soldiers love getting hugged because most of them
are big softies deep down.

12. Do a sport with them.

Soldiers love being active.

President Bush golfs with wounded veterans at the Warrior Open tournament.

13. Make sure you are respectful.

14. Cook them a big dinner if you can. Lots of meat.

15. But if you only have a minute, look them square in the eye…

And say, “Thank you.”

We promise you they will appreciate it.

God Bless America !

Very heartwarming....

Somehow, I can't imagine our current president doing anything like this!!!

Maureen Scott writes about

Maureen Scott is an ardent American patriot who was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and retired to Richmond, VA, in 2000. Free from the nine-to-five grind of writing for employers and clients, she began writing political commentary to please herself and express her convictions, as do I. Our Pledge of Allegiance, a military band playing the National Anthem, and the wisdom of our Founding Fathers, inspire her passion and views. Her life is guided by a firm belief that truth is the most important virtue, and that God knows what He is doing with her. She is my guest writer today, for I could have never said it better. Please take the time to read and listen to this good American woman. I believe you will be glad you did. I give you Maureen Scott.

The Architect of Destruction

Barack Obama appears to be a tormented man filled with resentment, anger, and disdain for anyone of an opinion or view other than his. He acts in the most hateful, spiteful, malevolent, vindictive ways in order to manipulate and maintain power and control over others. Perhaps, because, as a child, he grew up harboring an abiding bitterness toward the U.S. that was instilled in him by his family and mentors…it seems to have never left him.

It is not the color of his skin that is a problem in America .

Rather it is the blackness that fills his soul and the hollowness in his heart where there should be abiding pride and love for this country.

Think: Have we ever heard Obama speak lovingly of the U.S. or its people, with deep appreciation and genuine respect for our history, our customs, our sufferings and our blessings? Has he ever revealed that, like most patriotic Americans, he gets "goose bumps" when a band plays "The Star Spangled Banner," or sheds a tear when he hears a beautiful rendition of " America the Beautiful?" Does his heart burst with pride when millions of American flags wave on a National holiday - or someone plays "taps" on a trumpet? Has he ever shared the admiration of the military, as we as lovers of those who keep us free, feel when soldiers march by? It is doubtful because Obama did not grow up sharing our experiences or our values. He did not sit at the knee of a Grandfather or Uncle who showed us his medals and told us about the bravery of his fellow troops as they tramped through foreign lands to keep us free. He didn't have grandparents who told stories of suffering and then coming to America, penniless, and the opportunities they had for building a business and life for their children.

Away from this country as a young child, Obama didn't delight in being part of America and its greatness. He wasn't singing our patriotic songs in kindergarten, or standing on the roadside for a holiday parade and eating a hot dog, or lighting sparklers around a campfire on July 4th as fireworks exploded over head, or placing flags on the grave sites of fallen and beloved American heroes.

Rather he was separated from all of these experiences and doesn't really understand us and what it means to be an American. He is void of the basic emotions that most feel regarding this country and insensitive to the instinctive pride we have in our national heritage. His opinions were formed by those who either envied us or wanted him to devalue the United States and the traditions and patriotism that unites us.

He has never given a speech that is filled with calm, reassuring, complimentary, heartfelt statements about all the people in the U.S. Or one that inspires us to be better and grateful and proud that in a short time our country became a leader, and a protector of many. Quite the contrary, his speeches always degenerate into mocking, ridiculing tirades as he faults our achievements as well as any critics or opposition for the sake of a laugh, or to bolster his ego. He uses his Office to threaten and create fear while demeaning and degrading any American who opposes his policies and actions. A secure leader, who has noble self-esteem and not false confidence, refrains from showing such dread of critics and displaying a cocky, haughty attitude.

Mostly, his time seems to be spent causing dissension, unrest, and anxiety among the people of America, rather than uniting us (even though he was presented to us as the "Great Uniter"). He creates chaos for the sake of keeping people separated, envious, aggrieved and ready to argue. Under his leadership Americans have been kept on edge, rather than in a state of comfort and security. He incites people to be aggressive toward, and disrespectful of, those of differing opinions. And through such behavior, Obama has lowered the standards for self-control and mature restraint to the level of street-fighting gangs, when he should be raising the bar for people to strive toward becoming more considerate, tolerant, self-disciplined, self-sustaining, and self-assured.

Not a day goes by that he is not attempting to defy our laws, remove our rights, over-ride established procedures, install controversial appointees, enact divisive mandates, and assert a dictatorial form of power.

· Never has there been a leader of this great land who used such tactics to harm and hurt the people and this country.

· Never have we had a President who spoke with a caustic, evil tongue against the citizenry rather than present himself as a soothing, calming and trustworthy force.

· Never, in this country, have we experienced how much stress one man can cause a nation of people - on a daily basis!

Obama has promoted the degeneration of peace, civility, and quality of cooperation between us. He thrives on tearing us down, rather than building us up. He is the Architect of the decline of America , and the epitome of a Demagogue.

High Notes 11-07-2013 – Angela Gorman

Angela Gorman, is the “Irish Mom” who declares that fact on her auto’s license plates.  She is my neighbor on Bihlman Drive, Portsmouth, who grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and she told me a couple of stories about recent adventures she’s had while walking the neighborhood.  Ms. Gorman likes to walk early in the morning.  One recent morning she passed by a car, which was parked in front of a house, and she noticed a lady’s purse sitting on the sidewalk next to the car.   Angela is one of those persons who responds to such situations and is eager to help others, so she immediately went to the front door of the house and knocked loudly, until a lady answered.  The lady was in her house clothes, and seemed unhappy at being wakened so early, until the purse was pointed out.  She than exclaimed, “That’s my purse, I must have left it on the sidewalk as I was taking my shopping bags from the car last night…that’s my life in that purse!”  Angela retrieved the purse and the lady was very thankful, she said.
Angela continued with her story as I visited with her last week, “I was at Wal-Mart a few days later, and while standing in line waiting to check-out, I noticed a young man behind me, and he seemed too close, so I turned to look at him, and he was smiling broadly.  I thought that was strange, so I turned back around and tried to ignore him.  He moved closer to my left shoulder, so I turned again and looked at him, at which time he said, “You live in Forest Heights, don’t you”?
Well, I felt uncomfortable at the situation, and turned back around to ignore him, and he said, “That was my Mom, whose purse you found!  I’ve seen you walking in front of her house.”
“Phew, was I relieved!” Angela said.
“Then a couple of days later, I was walking east on Coles Boulevard, and just past Howard Street, I heard a strange whimpering sound.  It was coming from up the bank among some shrubs, so I cleared them away and found a small injured looking dog.  At that same time, I saw a man walking another dog on a leash, on the other side of the street, so I called to him, and ran to him and explained the situation.  He then hurriedly accompanied me to the injured dog.  When he saw the dog, he started crying, and said, ‘That’s my dog, Coco, and I’ve been looking for him for two days,’ as he took him lovingly into his arms. I don’t know the man, nor have I seen him since, but I’m glad he was able to get his dog back,” she said.
Perhaps Angela learned how to respond to adversity early in her childhood, as she and the rest of her family had to leave their beds during the night hours and go to nearby bomb-shelter trenches when Adolph Hitler’s Luftwaffe rained terror onto the city.
Luftwaffe means “Air-weapon” in the German language.
I wrote a column several weeks ago featuring Angela, and her book “An Irish American Dream” her memoir she published back in 2001.  Angela is a healthy, active and fit woman, whose list of medications is “One multi-vitamin a day”.  She loves to tend her flowers and the flowers which grace the front of the office space for Forrest Heights, across from her apartment.
Angela, her husband, Joseph along with their twin girls, Joyce and Linda settled in Portsmouth from Ireland in 1953.  Her other two daughters, Colleen and Sonja came later.
Angela said her book has become somewhat popular again, and as some of her neighbors have learned about it they want copies.  To me the book seems like her love letter to Portsmouth, and its people, and to America in general, and her poem, Beautiful America expresses that love best.
Beautiful America
Angela Gorman
I know you are probably thinking I have the title wrong
But there is logic to my reason as I sing this song
For those of you fortunate to be born in this great land
Grew up with freedom and its beauty at your hand.

To some it’s just a way of life and taken for granted
But to me this land is precious as a seed I have planted
You see, I’m from the Emerald Isle; that’s beauty in itself
But forty shades of green do not fill the pantry shelf.

I learned this at an early age, so I began to dream
Of one day going to the land of milk, honey, and cream
The only country in the world that could fulfill my goal
Was the one that had freedom and beauty to behold.

So my Beautiful America, the land of red, white and blue
It’s the gracious people here who made my life anew
They are loving and caring and they’ll go that extra mile
I call it Beautiful America and always say it with a smile.

Stunning crop art has sprung up across rice fields in Japan , but this is no alien creation. The designs have been cleverly PLANTED! Farmers creating the huge displays use no ink or dye. Instead, different color rice plants have been precisely and strategically arranged and grown in the paddy fields. As summer progresses and the plants shoot up, the detailed artwork begins to emerge.

A Sengoku warrior on horseback has been created from hundreds of thousands of rice plants. The colors are created by using different varieties of rice plants, whose leaves grow in certain colors. This photo was taken in Inakadate, Japan .

This year, various artwork has popped up in other rice-farming areas of Japan , including designs of deer dancers. Smaller works of 'crop-art' can be seen in other rice-farming areas of Japan such as this image of Doraemon and deer dancers.
The farmers create the murals by planting little purple and yellow-leafed Kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed Tsugaru, a Roman variety, to create the colored patterns in the time between planting and harvesting in September.
The murals in Inakadate cover 15,000 square meters of paddy fields.

From ground level, the designs are invisible, and viewers have to climb the mock castle tower of the village office to get a glimpse of the work.

Closer to the image, the careful placement of the thousands of rice plants in the paddy fields can be seen. Rice-paddy art was started there in 1993 as a local revitalization project, an idea that grew from meetings of the village committees. The different varieties of rice plants grow alongside each other to create the masterpieces. In the first nine years, the village office workers and local farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year. But their ideas grew more complicated and attracted more attention. In 2005, agreements between landowners allowed the creation of enormous rice paddy art. A year later, organizers used computers to precisely plot the planting of four differently colored rice varieties that bring the images to life!
TRULY A WORK OF ART!!

Thanks to little o ... Succinctly and properly given ... Thx Ramey H!

Obama felt the need to go to Arlington on Memorial Day, instead he had opted to go to Chicago.  At the time I was appalled, but then I hadn't thought about the following.  As it now stands, I couldn't agree more with Col. Jacobi (RET).
It’s amazing that something with no vulgarity can be one of the most powerful messages to Obama that I have seen to date.
NOT RACIST...
NOT VIOLENT...
JUST NOT SILENT ANY MORE

“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.”   - Ayn Rand, 1963
