... I think you'll enjoy this. Whoever wrote it could have been my next door neighbor because it totally described my childhood to a 'T.' Hope you enjoy it.

Black and White?

You could hardly see for all the snow,

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter and I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli

Almost all of us would Have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then. The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE... And risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors.  I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now.

Flunking gym was not an option... Even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder than gym.

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.

We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses?                Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself.

I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations.

Oh yeah... And where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played 'king of the hill' on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites,  and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked.

Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either; because if we did we got our butt spanked there and then we got our butt spanked again when we got home.

I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off.

Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house.

Instead, she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family.

How could we possibly have known that?

We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes.

We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even Notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac!

How did we ever survive?

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA; AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T, SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING!

Ask for a USA Customer rep ... Thx Blaine B!

I'm not advocating any "stance" by sending this along. But I have ran into the problem of not being able to understand the phone answerers.

Wonder about the companies that pay for this "service' but who seem to have no concept of the final quality of the service.

Those are the first ones that need to be replaced. Unless of course you think that quality of products or services is no longer a viable concept?

I thought this was a great idea and so I'm sending this along. If
you think it's a good idea too, please pass it along to your
friends. If our government can't figure out how to create jobs
here; well then it's time to show them how it's done. Bring jobs
back to the USA.!

 

USA - PLEASE DO NOT DELETE BEFORE READING !

 

The gas company serving my area brought their call center back to Phoenix from India last year after numerous customer complaints. What a difference now when you call them...and it created 300 jobs. I know this works because they were so bad that when India answered I wouldn't even deal with them. I'd simply ask to be transferred to a rep. in the U.S. and they would comply.

 

Now that I know it is the LAW - I will do it for sure.

 

Any time you call an 800 number (for a credit card, banking,
Verizon, health and other insurance, computer help desk, etc.) and
you find that you're talking to a foreign customer service
representative (perhaps in India, Philippines, etc), please
consider doing the following.

 

After you connect and you realize that the customer service
representative is not from the USA (you can always ask if you are not sure about the accent),
please, very politely, say, "I'd like to speak to a customer service representative in the United States".

 

The rep might suggest talking to his/her manager, but, again, politely say, "Thank you, but I'd like to speak to a customer service representative in the USA."

 

YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED TO A REP IN THE USA. That's the
rule and the LAW.

 

It takes less than one minute to have your call re-directed to the USA .

 

Tonight when I got redirected to a USA rep, I asked again to make sure - and yes, she was from Fort Lauderdale.

 

Imagine what would happen if every US citizen insisted on talking to only US phone reps from this day forward? Imagine how that would ultimately impact the number of US jobs that would need to be created.

 

If I tell 10 people to consider doing this and you tell 10 people to consider doing this - see what I mean... it becomes an exercise in Viral Marketing 101!

 

Remember: The goal here is to restore jobs back here at home - not to be abrupt or rude to a foreign phone rep. You may even get correct answers, good advice, and solutions to your problems.

Police protection is an oxymoron: Free citizens must   protect themselves because police do not protect you   from crime; they just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

                  Missouri has no illegals; go figure... shouldn't
the other states do the same?
Missouri's approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears to
be more advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything to
date in Arizona . Does the White House appreciate what Missouri has
done? So, why doesn't Missouri receive attention? Answer: There are no
illegals in Missouri to demonstrate.

The "Show Me" state has again shown us how it should be done. There
needs to be more publicity and exposure regarding what Missouri has
done. Please pass this around.

In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional
amendment designating English as the official language of Missouri .
In November, 2008, nearly 90% voted in favor! Thus, English became the
official language for ALL governmental activity in Missouri . No
individual has the right to demand government services in a language
OTHER than English.

In 2008, a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway
Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration
status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the
person is found to be in Missouri illegally. Missouri law enforcement
officers receive specific training with respect to enforcement of
federal immigration laws.

In Missouri , illegal immigrants do NOT have access to taxpayer
benefits such as food stamps or health care through Missouri Health
NET.

In 2009, a measure was passed that ensures Missouri 's public
institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to
individuals who are illegally in the United States .

In Missouri all post-secondary institutions of higher education are
required to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. Of Higher Education
that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are
unlawfully present in the United States .

                  So, while Arizona has made national news for its
new law, it is important to remember; Missouri has been far more
proactive in addressing this horrific problem. Missouri has made it
clear that illegal immigrants are NOT WELCOME in the state and they
will NOT receive public benefits at the expense of Missouri taxpayers.

DON'T DELETE THIS AMERICA . KEEP IT GOING UNTIL WE GET ALL 50 STATES TO COMPLY!
