I thought at a time that you, me, or somebody on the Highland basketball courts might catch up to Dick but he kept on, thanks to Alvie Evans and Coach Rohr for listening. Dick made the Trojans' basketball team in a big way for his senior season and continued with Coach Rohr at Miami along with Dick's excellent tennis exploits. Miami won four straight MAC basketball titles and the story is that a sports writer wrote that Dick had the sweetyest hook shot he had seen at Madison Square Garden. Dick told me Wednesday that he grew two inches in height while at Miami. We talked about possibly meeting you with Ronnie Walters and our wives at Chillicothe sometime soon. Is there a good day of the week for you?

OF ALL THE ATHLETES I'VE WITNESSED, I THINK DICK WAS THE GREATEST, NOT ONLY IN TENNIS, BUT IN BASKETBALL, TABLE TENNIS, AND ANY SPORT THAT WE PLAYED AT MOUND PARK, SUCH AS PASS AND TOUCH FOOTBALL. HE COULD BEAT YOU AT ANY GAME. IF HE HAD CHOSEN GOLF, AS HIS PRIMARY SPORT, INSTEAD OF TENNIS, HE PROBABLY WOULD BE PLAYING ON THE PGA TOUR.

I LOVED WATCHING HIM PLAY TENNIS WITH HIS BROTHER AT THE MOUND PARK TENNIS COURTS. HIS BROTHER WAS A GREAT PLAYER ALSO.

DICK'S FATHER, HERMANN, WAS ALSO A GREAT TEACHER. HE COACHED US WHEN WE PLAYED BASEBALL IN GRADE SCHOOL. WE WON THE YMCA SUMMER BASEBALL LEAGUE, WE WERE "THE GRANDVIEW CUBS." DICK WAS A GREAT BASEBALL PLAYER ALSO. DICK WAS A GREAT INSPIRATION TO ME IN MY LIFE. OF ALL THE PROBLEMS I HAVE ENDURED WITH MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE, I NEVER GAVE UP AND I THINK DICK'S "NEVER GIVE UP ADDITUDE" HELPED ME GET THROUGH ALL OF IT,
