For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed,somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Old is just a state of mi9nd... Thanks Clay Vice!

Subject: Old Is Just A State Of Mind

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

Observations on Growing Older

~Your kids are becoming you ... and you don't like them ... but your grandchildren are perfect!

~Going out is good ... Coming home is better!

~When people say you look "Great"... they add "for your age!"

~When you needed the discount, you paid full price. Now you get discounts on everything...movies, hotels, flights, but you're too tired to use them.

~You forget names ... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

~The 5 pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.

~Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.

~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don’t care to do them anymore.

~Your spouse sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he or she does in bed. It's called their "pre-sleep".

~Remember when your mother said, "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

~You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married ... Now, "I hope they STAY married!"

~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

~When GOOGLE, iPod, email, modem.... were unheard of, and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table.

~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???

~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

~Your husband/wife has a night out with the guys or gals but is home by 9:00 P.M. Next week it will be 8:30 P.M.

~You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.

~Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

~Everybody whispers. ~Now that your spouse has retired ... you'd give anything if he/she would find a job!

~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet ... 2 of which you will never wear.

~~~~But old is good in some things: old songs, old movies. And best of all,
OLD FRIENDS!!
Love you, "OLD FRIEND!"
Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT!!!
Tressel- A day for mixed emoptions... Thanks Sarah R.!
Today is a day for mixed emotions. On Memorial Day when our thoughts should be with those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to make this country so great, instead those of us who reside in the Buckeye Nation must struggle with our emotions as Ohio State announces it has accepted the resignation of Jim Tressel.
Unlike many in my profession, I wish it had never come to this and I will remain unconvinced Tressel had to go. Already this morning, the great philosopher Brent Musberger has opined that Tressel’s resignation will not mitigate pending NCAA sanctions against the OSU program. Musberger believes the NCAA will hit the Buckeyes with similar penalties as the ones handed down to USC that include vacated seasons, reduction of scholarships and a postseason ban.
Based upon the outside chance that Musberger isn’t conjuring his opinion out of thin air, why did the Ohio State Board of Trustees feel the need to pressure university president Dr. E. Gordon Gee and athletic director Gene Smith for Tressel’s resignation? And why did Gee and Smith accept it?
It seems to me that Tressel was the only one ready to go to battle. Why else would he have hired an attorney with vast knowledge of the innerworkings of the NCAA Committee of Infractions? I have always believed that with any kind of support – and I mean real support and not the vacuous kind he seemed to be receiving – Tressel could have weathered the storm. An expanded suspension and additional fine could have been in the offing, but he could have remained the coach. Instead, those at Ohio State who made the ultimate decision couldn’t stand the heat. Bowing to a crush of recent stories – none of which contained new information – the trustees and administration have taken the easy way out by caving and casting aside one of the most successful coaches in program history.
We can debate forever the merits of Tressel’s decision to withhold information after he learned his players were involved in improper activities. What is not up for debate is that this is one of the darkest days in Ohio State football history.
Those of you taking sanctimonious victory laps today have gotten your wish. When your euphoria wears off, I wonder how long it will take you to realize just how far back Tressel’s exit just set the Ohio State program. Then again, maybe you got bored beating Michigan every year, stringing together a record number of the Big Ten championships and playing in meaningful bowl games.
Some may believe Tressel’s resignation will begin to bring this whole sordid mess to a close. Speaking strictly for myself, I think it’s the beginning of a nightmare.
Tressel made a mistake and there is no denying that. But he did not pay his players, he did not commit recruiting violations and he did not run a rouge program. The majority of his players graduated on time, his program’s academic standing was exemplary and his production on the field was superlative. Add to those successes the untold number of charitable donations of both money and time that Tressel made over the past decade and you have one of the giants of his profession.
And still his superiors could not muster the fortitude to stand behind him when the heat was on? I would never in a million years have believed that could happen at The Ohio State University.
Would You Want To Coach OSU?
by Will Lentz @ 8:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions
With the resignation of Jim Tressel (and the hints that even more shoes are about to drop on the buckeyes,) one of the best football coaching jobs in America is now open for hire. As fans of the school that has the best basketball coaching job in America, I feel as though we have a unique perspective on what it takes to run a program of that stature. So let’s try the thought experiment out, if you will.
Say you’re a Division 1 head coach of a school that tends to stay in between 10-30 in the polls on average (a school like Virginia Tech, for instance.) Knowing full well that 1) OSU will likely get hit with USC type sanctions, 2) despite the dirt, Tressel was pretty loved by most Buckeye fans due to his success, and 3) the expectation at OSU is a BCS bowl, nothing short. You will have to compete for that despite sanctions you may have, or suspensions your players may face.
On the plus side, you’ll get a huge chunk of cash, you’ll have a chance to coach at one of the biggest football schools out there, and you’ll get to do all that in the comfort of the Big 10.
If you say ‘no thanks’ to the OSU job, what level of school would you have to be at to accept it?
Or are we looking at fired NFL coaches now?
What are your thoughts?
Has anyone called Lane Kiffin yet?
More Tres by Sarah R.
hope you saw Buckeye Blitz at 8 pm... Coach Cooper was great as was Bob Carpenter. seems more are for Tres than against.
Well Jack, this OSU football fan remains ashamed of the NCAA. I hardly see a young person without a tatoo as students of Columbus State Community College. If they found a way to trade their awards for them, it helps I am sure. The skin tabs are not cheap. One girl told me her shoulder tatoo (color and legible) cost $400. I don't know what the full body jobs are costing. I doubt that there is a FB team (college) in America without similar happenings. Yes it is ridding Ohio State of a good and very successful football coach and apparently a decent human being. Will there be any other similar cases? If not, the NCAA is putting its head in the sand.
Buchanan to obama... Thanks Keith B. and Jack H!
BUCHANAN TO OBAMA This appears accurate. Blacks are 12.9% of our population, but comprise about 40% of the federal work force whose average salary is $78,000 per year as compared to the general population's annual salary of about $42,000 per year. It is odd that no one writes about this great disparity.
Harry W. Brandt, CPA
Finally............It is Said Publicly. I have never seen the white side explained better! Pat Buchanan had the guts to say it. It is about time.
BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??
Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids...? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Taiwan Brawly, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!
OK...........
will you pass it on ? YES. I did but will you? Because I'm for a better America
Stupid statement... (presidential?)... Thanks Luis!
THE MOST STUPID STATEMENT MADE BY A PRESIDENT (Bam Bam)
If someone has to explain this to you, You are not a veteran…
He doesn't seem to have much respect for the military.
Maybe in the future our leaders should be veterans.
THE MOST STUPID STATEMENT EVER BY A PRESIDENT!
This most UNBELIEVABLE President of all time?
HERE IS HIS RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO REQUIRE THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES.
Bad press, including major mockery of the play by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 billion annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.
"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit.. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."
Please pass this on to every one including every vet and their families whom you know. How in the world did a person with this mindset become our leader?
REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT...."Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice?"
If he thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard service member or veteran of a military service he ought to think it over.. If you or a family member is or has served their country please pass this to them.
Please pass this to everyone. I'm guessing that other than
the 20-25 percent hardcore liberals in the US will agree
That this is just another example why this is the worst president in American history. Remind everyone over and over how this man thinks, while he bows to the Saudi Arabian king...
The Gates Farewell Warning
America can be a superpower or a welfare state, but not both.
Robert Gates, who steps down next month after four-plus years at the Pentagon, is making his retirement lap a tutorial on America's defense spending and security needs. His message is welcome, especially on Memorial Day, and even if he couldn't always heed it in his time as Secretary of Defense.
In a series of farewell speeches, Mr. Gates has warned against cuts to weapon programs and troop levels that would make America vulnerable in "a complex and unpredictable security environment," as he said Sunday at Notre Dame. On Tuesday at the American Enterprise Institute, Mr. Gates noted that the U.S. went on "a procurement holiday" in the 1990s, when the Clinton Administration decided to cash in the Cold War “peace” dividend. The past decade showed that history (and war) didn't end in 1989.
"It is vitally important to protect the military modernization accounts," he said, and push ahead with new capabilities, from an air refueling tanker fleet to ballistic missile submarines.
***
America's role as a global leader depends on its ability to project power. In historical terms, the U.S. spends relatively little on defense today, even after the post-9/11 buildup. This year's $530 billion budget accounts for 3.5% of GDP, 4.5% when the costs of the Afghan and Iraq wars are included. The U.S. spent, on average, 7.5% of GDP on defense throughout the Cold War, and 6.2% at the height of the Reagan buildup in 1986.
In a series of farewell speeches, Mr. Gates has warned against cuts to weapon programs and troop levels. Associated Press
But on coming into office, the Obama Administration put the Pentagon on a fiscal diet—even as it foisted new European-sized entitlements on America, starting with $2.6 trillion for ObamaCare. The White House proposed a $553 billion defense budget for 2012, $13 billion below what it projected last year. Through 2016, the Pentagon virtually will see zero growth in spending and will have to whittle down the Army and Marine Corps by 47,000 troops. The White House originally wanted deeper “savings” of up to $150 billion.
Mr. Gates deserves credit for fighting off the worst White House instincts, but his biggest defeat was not getting a share of the stimulus. Instead he has cut or killed some $350 billion worth of weapon programs. He told his four service chiefs last August to find $100 billion in savings. The White House pocketed that and asked for another $78 billion. Last year, Mr. Gates said that the Pentagon needs 2%-3% real budget growth merely to sustain what it's doing now, but it could make do with 1%. The White House gave him 0%.
In the Gates term, resources were focused on the demands of today's wars over hypothetical conflicts of tomorrow. This approach made sense at the start of his tenure in 2007, when the U.S. was in a hard fight in Iraq. Yet this has distracted from budgeting to address the rise of China and perhaps of regional powers like a nuclear Iran that will shape the security future. The decision to stop producing the F-22 fighter and to kill several promising missile defense programs may come back to haunt the U.S.
Mr. Gates knows well that America won't balance its budget by squeezing the Pentagon. "If you cut the defense budget by 10%, which would be catastrophic in terms of force structure, that's $55 billion out of a $1.4 trillion deficit," he told the Journal's CEO Council conference last November. "We are not the problem."
So what is? Mr. Gates acknowledged it only in passing this week, but the reality is that the entitlement state is crowding out national defense. Over two decades ago, liberal historian Paul Kennedy claimed that "imperial overstretch" had brought first the Romans, then the British and now Americans down to size. He was wrong then, but what's really happening now is "entitlement overstretch," to quote military analyst Andrew Krepinevich.
The American entitlement state was born with the New Deal, got fat with the “Great Society” of the 1960s and hit another growth spurt in the first two years of the Obama era. The big three entitlements—Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, plus other retirement and disability expenses—accounted for 4.9% of GDP by 1970, eclipsed defense spending in 1976 and stood at 9.8% as of last year. Under current projections, entitlements will eat up 10.8% of GDP by 2020, while defense spending goes down to 2.7%. On current trends, those entitlements will consume all tax revenues by 2052, estimates Mackenzie Eaglen of the Heritage Foundation.
Europe went down this yellow brick road decades ago and today spends just 1.7% of GDP on defense. The Europeans get a free security ride from America, but who will the U.S. turn to for protection—China?
As Reagan knew, America's global power begins at home, with a strong economy able to generate wealth. The push for defense cuts reflects the reality of a weak recovery and a national debt that has doubled in the last two years. But the Obama Administration made a conscious decision to squeeze defense while pouring money on everything else.
"More perhaps than any other Secretary of Defense, I have been a strong advocate of soft power—of the critical importance of diplomacy and development as fundamental components of our foreign policy and national security," Mr. Gates said at Notre Dame. "But make no mistake, the ultimate guarantee against the success of aggressors, dictators and terrorists in the 21st century, as in the 20th, is hard power—the size, strength and global reach of the United States military."
That's a crucial message for Republican deficit hawks, and especially for a Commander in Chief who inherited the capability to capture Osama bin Laden half way around the world but is on track to leave America militarily weaker than he found it.
Israeli speech to the UN Thanks Sarah Rapp!
It's not fair...Some people are born brilliant!!! Ken
Who Does The Land of Israel Belong To?
An Israeli with an excellent sense of humor,
presented an ingenious example of speech
and politics to the United Nations Assembly
He set the record straight, and made the
world community smile.
A representative from Israel began:
'Before beginning my talk I want to tell
you something about Moses:
When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath!'
Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on
the rock and entered the water..
When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished.
A Palestinian had stolen them!
The Palestinian representative at the UN
jumped up furiously and shouted,
'What are you talking about?
The Palestinians weren't there then.'
The Israeli representative smiled and said,
'And now that we have made that clear,
I will begin my speech...'.
SO VERY CLEVER!!
The pilot and the priest... thanks Terri Kusner!
Pilot & Priest
A Priest dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket, and jeans.
Saint Peter addresses this cool guy, 'Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven ? '
The guy replies, 'I'm Jack, retired Continental Airlines pilot from Houston . '
Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the Pilot, 'Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom.' The pilot goes into Heaven with his robe and staff.
Next, it's the Priest's turn. He stands erect and booms out, 'I am Father Bob, Pastor of Saint Mary's in Pasadena for the last 43 years.'
Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the Priest, 'Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom.'
'Just a minute,' says the good Father. 'That man was a Pilot and he gets a silken robe and golden staff and I get only cotton and wood. How can this be?'
'Up here - we go by results,' says Saint Peter. 'When you Preached - people slept. When he flew, people Prayed.'
I tend to lose my cool in traffic to often.  Where could I drive a nail?  Thanks good friend, Lyle shover!
Sam
This has been around before but a good reminder,
NAILS IN THE FENCE
Make sure you
read all the way down to the last sentence.
(Most
importantly the last sentence)
There once was
a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
The first day
the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next
few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily
gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.
He told his
father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his
temper.
The days
passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father
took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will
never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.
Remember that friends are very rare jewels indeed.
They make you smile and encourage you to succeed; They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open
their hearts to us.
It's National
Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care.. Send this to everyone you consider a
FRIEND, even if it means sending it
back to the person who sent it to you! If it comes back to you,
you will then know you have a circle of
friends.
YOU
ARE MY FRIEND AND I AM HONORED!
Now send this
to every friend you have!! And to your
family(they need to
know that you love them too)..
Please forgive me if I have ever left a 'hole' in your fence.
Veteran Thanks Terry Krause!
A Veteran is someone
who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank
check made payable to 'The United States of
America ' for an amount of 'up to and
including my life.'
This is true, but in my case, it was because my friends and neighbors sent me a message to show up for duty (draft board- January 1952).  Jeanie and I just married and knew it was coming.  Today's service people are volunteers.  That is remarkable.  I personally believe that if our non-representatives have us in a shooting war, every eligible male should be part of the draft, or, at minimum, a draft lottery.
Sam
That is Honor, and
there are way too many people in this country
who no longer understand it.'
FW- Best email of Memorial Day Thanks Tom & Carolyn!
Subject: FW: BEST EMAIL OF THE DAY!!!!
Too good to save until Memorial Day even tho it isn't that far away
Subject: BEST EMAIL OF THE DAY!!!!
THIS IS THE BEST EMAIL OF THE DAY!!!!
As I came out of the supermarket that sunny day, pushing my cart of groceries towards my car, I saw an old man with the hood of his car up and a lady sitting inside the car, with the door open.
The old man was looking at the engine. I put my groceries away in my car, and continued to watch the old gentleman from about twenty five feet away..
I saw a young man in his early twenties with a grocery bag in his arm walking towards the old man. The old gentleman saw him coming too, and took a few steps towards him.
I saw the old gentleman point to his open hood and say something. The young man put his grocery bag into what looked like a brand new Cadillac Escalade. He then turned back to the old man.. I heard him yell at the old gentleman saying:
'You shouldn't even be allowed to drive a car at your age.' And then with a wave of his hand, he got in his car and peeled rubber out of the parking lot.
I saw the old gentleman pull out his handkerchief, and mop his brow as he went back to his car and again looked at the engine.
He then went to his wife and spoke with her; he appeared to tell her it would be okay. I had seen enough, and I approached the old man. He saw me coming and stood straight, and as I got near him I said, 'Looks like you're having a problem.'
He smiled sheepishly, and quietly nodded his head. I looked under the hood myself, and knew that whatever the problem was, it was beyond me. Looking around, I saw a gas station up the road, and I told the old man that I would be right back. I drove to the station and went I inside. I saw three attendants working on cars. I approached one of them, and related the problem the old man had with his car. I offered to pay them if they could follow me back down and help him.
The old man had pushed the heavy car under the shade of a tree and appeared to be comforting his wife When he saw us he straightened up and thanked me for my help. As the mechanics diagnosed the problem (overheated engine), I spoke with the old gentleman.
When I shook hands with him earlier, he had noticed my Marine Corps ring and had commented about it, telling me that he had been a Marine too. I nodded and asked the usual question, 'What outfit did you serve with?'
He had mentioned that he served with the first Marine Division at Tarawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal ....
He had hit all the big ones and retired from the Corps after the war was over. As we talked we heard the car engine come on and saw the mechanics lower the hood. They came over to us as the old man reached for his wallet, but was stopped by me. I told him I would just put the bill on my AAA card.
He still reached for the wallet and handed me a card that I assumed had his name and address on it and I stuck it in my pocket. We all shook hands all around again, and I said my goodbye's to his wife.
I then told the two mechanics that I would follow them back up to the station. Once at the station, I told them that they had interrupted their own jobs to come along with me and help the old man. I said I wanted to pay for the help, but they refused to charge me
One of them pulled out a card from his pocket, looking exactly like the card the old man had given to me. Both of the men told me then that they were Marine Corps Reserves. Once again we shook hands all around and as I was leaving, one of them told me I should look at the card the old man had given to me. I said I would and drove off.
For some reason I had gone about two blocks, when I pulled over and took the card out of my pocket and looked at it for a long, long time. The name of the old gentleman was on the card in golden leaf and under his name was written: 'Congressional Medal of Honor Society.'
I sat there motionless, looking at the card and reading it over and over. I looked up from the card and smiled to no one but myself and marveled that on this day, four Marines had all come together because one of us needed help. He was an old man all right, but it felt good to have stood next to greatness and courage, and an honor to have been in his presence. Remember, OLD men like him gave youFREEDOM for America . Thanks to those who served and still serve, and to all of those who supported them, and who continue to support them.
America is not at war. The U.S. Military is at war..America is at the Mall. If you don't stand behind our troops, PLEASE feel free to stand in front of them!
Remember, Freedom isn't Free. Thousands have paid the price, so that you can enjoy what you have today.
LET'S DO THIS: JUST 19 WORDS:
GOD OUR FATHER, WALK THROUGH MY HOUSE AND TAKE AWAY ALL MY WORRIES; AND PLEASE WATCH OVER AND HEAL MY FAMILY;AND PLEASE PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS, AND WATCH OVER OUR TROOPS, WHO ARE DEFENDING THOSE FREEDOMS.AMEN
This prayer is so powerful. Pass this prayer to 12 people, including me.
Secret Service and the Presidents. Thanks Sarah Rapp!
Subject: Fwd: Secret Service Perspective
A book about the Secret Service is out and it reveals an awful lot about the Presidents and Vice-Presidents...very interesting...recap thus far:
JFK and LBJ = Philanderers of the highest order. Both kept a lot of women in White House for affairs. Both set up "early warning" systems for if and when their wives were nearby. Totally immoral men. In addition, LBJ was as crude as the day is long. (I heard this about him when he was in office...filth through and through.)
Nixon = Weird, moral man but very odd and weird. Paranoid etc. Horrible relationship with his family, almost a recluse.
Agnew = Nice decent man, everyone was surprised at his downfall.
Ford = A true gentlemen who treated them with respect and dignity
Jimmy Carter = A complete phony who would portray one picture of himself to public and very different in private, i.e., would be shown carrying his own luggage, suit cases were always empty, he kept empty ones just for photo ops. Wanted the people to see him as pious and a non drinker, he and family drank alcohol a lot. Had disdain for the Secret Service, and was very irresponsible with the "football" nuclear codes. Didn't think it was a big deal and would keep military aides at a great distance. Would never acknowledge military or Secret service that were there to serve him.
Ronald Reagan = The real deal. Moral, honest, respectful and dignified. Treated Secret Service and everyone else with respect and honor. Would always thank everyone all the time. He took the time to know everyone on a personal level. One story early on in Presidency the President came out of his room with a side arm attached to his hip. The Agent in charge said "Why the pistol Mr. President?" Ronald Reagan replied, "In case you boys can't get the job done, I can help." It was common for him to carry a pistol. People do not know that when he met with Gorbachev, he had a pistol in his briefcase. Upon learning that Gary Hart was caught with Donna Rice during the election Ronald Reagan said, "Boys will be boys, but boys will not be President."
Nancy Reagan = Very nice but very protective of the President..the Secret Service was always caught in the middle. Nancy would try to control what the President ate all the time (healthy) and he would say to the Agents "come on you gotta help me out." The Reagans rarely drank alcohol. Secret Service said they could count on one hand the times the Reagans were served alcohol other than wine during dinner. They made the comment for all the fake bluster of the Carters - it was the Reagans who lived life as genuinely moral people.
George and Barbara Bush = Extremely kind and considerate. Always respectful. Took great care in making sure the agents comforts were taken care of. They would bring them meals etc. One time Barbara Bush brought warm clothes to agents standing outside at Kennebunkport. One agent who was given a warm hat tried to nicely say no thanks when he was obviously freezing and President Bush said "Son, don't argue with the first lady, put the hat on."
Bill Clinton = Presidency was one giant party. Not trustworthy, he was nice because he wanted everyone to like him but life is just one big game and party to him.
Hillary Clinton = Another phony. Personality would change the instant cameras were near. She hated with open disdain the military and Secret Service. Again another one who felt people are there to serve her. She was always trying to keep tabs on Bill Clinton.
Al Gore = An egotistical ASS who was once overheard by his Secret Service detail when he told his son he needed to do better in school or he "would end up like these guys" and pointed to the agents.
G W Bush = They loved him and Laura Bush. They said no one is a nicer person than Laura Bush who never has a harsh word to say about anyone. The Bushes went out of their way to take care of the Secret Service and made sure they were well cared for with meals and other comforts. GW was the most prompt of the Presidents. He ran like a well-oiled machine. He was also the most in shape who had a very strict work out regimen. The Bushes made sure their entire administration understood to respect and be considerate of the Secret Service.
Barack Obama - Clintons over again - hates the military and looks down on the Secret Service.
And, there you have it.
FW- Islam inm a nutshell Thanks Bob Looney!
Subject: Fwd: Islam in a nutshell
I had seen the top half of this before (Islamic actions within a country based on percentages of population) but not the bottom half: a list of specific reasons that it is impossible for a good Muslim to also be a good American (conflict of ideals in multiple aspects of life.)
Subject: Islam in a nutshell - Things you need to know
This is how it works ... do not doubt it.
Islam in a nutshell - Some things you need to know. As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will, for the most part, be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States Muslim 0.6%
Australia Muslim 1.5%
Canada Muslim 1.9%
China Muslim 1.8%
Italy Muslim 1.5%
Norway Muslim 1.8%
________________________________
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs.
This is happening in:
Denmark Muslim 2%
Germany Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom Muslim 2.7%
Spain Muslim 4%
Thailand Muslim 4.6%
________________________________
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of Halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature Halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply.
This is occurring in:
France Muslim 8%
Philippines Muslim 5%
Sweden Muslim 5%
Switzerland Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
_________________________________
When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris, we are already seeing car-burning's. ANY non-Muslim action offends Islam and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam, with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections in:
Guyana Muslim 10%
India Muslim 13.4%
Israel Muslim 16%
Kenya Muslim 10%
Russia Muslim 15%
_________________________________
After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burning of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:
Ethiopia Muslim 32.8%
_________________________________
At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:
Bosnia Muslim 40%
Chad Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon Muslim 59.7%
_________________________________
From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:
Albania Muslim 70%
Malaysia Muslim 60.4%
Qatar Muslim 77.5%
Sudan Muslim 70%
_________________________________
After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced, and in some ways is on-going in:
Bangladesh Muslim 83%
Egypt Muslim 90%
Gaza Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia Muslim 86.1%
Iran Muslim 98%
Iraq Muslim 97%
Jordan Muslim 92%
Morocco Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan Muslim 97%
Palestine Muslim 99%
Syria Muslim 90%
Tajikistan Muslim 90%
Turkey Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates Muslim 96%
_________________________________
100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasah's are the only schools, and the Koran is the only Word, such as in:
Afghanistan Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia Muslim 100%
Somalia Muslim 100%
Yemen Muslim 100%
_________________________________
Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.
"Before I was nine, I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; the tribe against the world, and all of us against the infidel." -- Leon Uris, 'The Haj'
It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts, nor schools, nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. The children attend madrasah's. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.
Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century.
Well guess what boys and girls, today we are letting the fox guard the hen house. And soon the wolves, will be herding the sheep!
Obama appoints two devout Muslims to Homeland Security posts. Don't you feel safer already?
Obama and Janet Napolitano appoint Arif Alikhan, a devout Muslim, as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development.
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano swore in Kareem Shora, a devout Muslim who was born in Damascus, Syria, as ADC National Executive Director as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).
NOTE: Has anyone ever heard a new government official being identified as a devout Catholic, a devout Jew or a devout Protestant? Just asking...
Devout Muslims being appointed to critical positions?
Was it not "Devout Muslim Men" that flew planes into U.S. buildings 10 years ago?!
Was it not a Devout Muslim who killed 13 at Fort Hood?!
Also: This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to finish. Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about these atrocities?!
Can a good Muslim be a good American? This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following is his reply:
Theologically? No! Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon God of Arabia.
Religiously? No! Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam. (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)
Scripturally? No! Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.
Geographically? No! Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially? No! Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically? No! Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, "The Great Satan".
Domestically? No! Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him. (Quran 4:34)
Intellectually? No! Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
Philosophically? No! Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually? No! Because when we declare "One nation under God", our Judeo/Christian God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly Father, nor is he ever called "Love" in The Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore, after much study and deliberation, perhaps we should be very suspicious because obviously, they cannot be both "good" Muslims AND "good" Americans!
Call it what you wish, it's still the truth, and we'd better start believing it, and waking up to that fact!
The more we understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. This religious war is bigger than we know or understand.
Can a Muslim be a good soldier in our armed forces? Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, opened fire at Ft. Hood and killed 13 -- because he was a devout Muslim! And the Muslims have always said they will destroy us from within.
Economist's predictions Thanks Judi cole!
just passing this on.... thought you might be interested in his opinions. while you find others items of more interest.
Judi
Thanks Judi,
I suspect a strong liberal political bias  by this economist.  I would enjoy seeing somebody like Cavuto of Fox News afternoons rebut a few of these points.
Sam
just passing this on.... thought you might be interested in his opinions. while you find others items of more interest, I highlighted some with red.
Note Well the following observations.
The World You Live In
We are all affected by socio-economic trends in our careers and personal lives. At the recent annual meeting in Savannah, GA, economist Brian Beaulieu presented a 2.5-hour whirlwind tour of the forces shaping the world in which we live.
Beaulieu’s views have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Barron’s, Reuters and Forbes, among other outlets. He is chief economist for Vistage International, a global organization comprised of 14,000+ CEOs. He and his twin brother Alan currently have a show, “Make Your Move,” on VoiceAmerica Business Channel.
The summary of highlights that follows, in Beaulieu’s big picture, is a blend of research-based facts and trends, plus predictions and opinions. You won’t agree with every opinion and prediction here — the old saying, “You can put economists end-to-end around the world and they’ll never reach an agreement” — but Beaulieu’s breadth of trends reporting is worthwhile and impressive.
Check out the Institute for Trend Research (ITR®), where Beaulieu is CEO, at www.itreconomics.com — Ted
1 — Buy agriculture commodity stocks.
2 — Our earth has a billion more people to feed.
3 — Be prepared for weather disruptions in the next 10-15 years worse than anything in the past 20 years.
4 — Long-term: look for a Great Depression between 2030-2040. You’ll likely be on the sidelines, but your kids…
5 — Short-term: Not another recession until 2013-14, and it won’t be nearly as bad as the last one.
6 — President Obama will be re-elected in 2012, due to good, positive economic conditions and weak GOP opposition.
7 — Japan’s industrial production is dying.
8 — Who’s afraid of China? The U.S. out-manufactures China on an everyday basis. Outsourced manufacturing is returning to the U.S. Strengthening the U.S. manufacturing base is a question of will, not ability.
9 — Pay no mind to Chinese economic data. No one does. It has no credibility.
10 — China faces a looming demographic crisis. China and the U.S. have roughly the same land mass. But China has four times the population of the U.S. China will not overtake the U.S. as the world’s number one economic power. It lacks mineral wealth. China will be a consistent number two. We should stop looking over our shoulder for China coming up from behind. It ain’t going to happen.
11 — Waiting on India: Conditions are ripe for India to become a stronger world economic power. Infrastructure is the number one problem facing the country. India has been poised to break out for 20 years.
12 — A lack of mobility exists in the U.S. workforce. There are 13 million unemployed, with three million job openings that can’t be filled. People cannot up and move to where the jobs are due in part to the lousy housing market. They can’t sell their homes.
13 — Mining is and will be one of the U.S. economy’s stronger sectors.
14 — U.S. manufacturing produces only moderate job increases. A lack of skilled workers exists. Also, there exists a preference to employ machines over people.
15 — Unemployment will remain high. In 2014, look for the unemployment rate to be at 7.4 percent. Barriers to lowering unemployment: lack of workforce mobility; lack of workforce skills; the U.S. government has incentivized people not to work. It pays people not to work.
16 — Federal budget cuts will not be draconian. Any cut is met with the question: What is this going to do to jobs? Cuts hurt jobs. Politicians need to stay in office. They will not inflict severe budget cuts.
17 — Both Democrat and GOP deficit reduction plans are based on the assumption that the U.S. economy will grow at a 5.0 percent clip from 2010-2019. Since World War 2, average Gross Domestic Policy (GDP) has been 3.3 percent. Current deficit reduction plans on both sides of the aisle ain’t gonna happen.
18 — Current U.S. federal government spending outlays: #1 Social Security; #2 Non-discretionary spending; #3 Defense; #4 Medicare; #5 Net interest; #6 All other entitlements; #7 Medicaid; #8 Obamacare subsidies; #9 Iraq and Afghanistan.
19 — Healthcare in the scheme of overall federal spending is not a big number.
20 — 80 percent of healthcare costs are incurred in the last two years of life.
21 — The definition of “fair” in U.S. healthcare spending is not equal opportunity but equal outcomes.
22 — It’s not about politics, about Dems or the GOP. The biggest factor influencing economic policy today is the times we live in.
23 — There is no credit crunch in 2011. Cash is sloshing all around. Main Street bankers (not Wall Street) want to loan money, but regulators sitting in their lobby restrain them. Need a loan? Be persistent. Ask 21 times for a loan. Shop around. The average is to ask for a loan only four times, and then give up.
24 — Corporate balance sheets look good. They are very clean.
25 — An economically realistic price for a barrel of oil is $97. The price could reach $140-$150 in 2013. Any price north of $130 will make consumer consumption difficult. At that price point consumers must make choices about how to consume oil.
26 — Natural gas is the best bet for U.S. energy independence. Natural gas = electricity generation. If one-third of the U.S. population drove hybrid autos or diesel-powered vehicles, we wouldn’t need Saudi oil. We wouldn’t need the Middle East. Energy independence is within our grasp. But independence comes at a premium price most of us cannot afford.
27 — Look outside of the U.S. for your stock choices. Foreign firms or global U.S. firms with more than 50 percent of their revenue coming from sales outside of the U.S. Bonds will be going down in value.
28 — It will be an inflationary world in the next 20 years. Winners will be those countries wealthy in natural resources. Canada and Brazil, for instance. Australia and New Zealand.
29 — The U.S. economy is currently running on six of eight cylinders. Residential and non-residential construction is still down and out. But the recovery is better than the last one in 2004. Businesses are investing. The restaurant business is coming back. Hotel, motels and lodging business is rebounding. Consumers are spending again.
30 — Invest in eye care and bladder care healthcare companies. Demographics favor these kinds of healthcare businesses.
31 — We possess three-year memories. After a three-year period we tend to forget experiences. The Great Recession ended in 2009. By mid-2012 it will be out of mind. It will no longer be a behavioral determinant.
32 — Invest in residential real estate. New housing starts are as dead as a doornail. Existing homes and apartments are where 130 million new Americans by 2050 will live.
33 — Population winners and losers at the state level: Biggest gains — Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, and Florida; Biggest losses — Michigan, New York, Ohio, Idaho, and New Jersey.
34 — The low-cost global labor pool will move to Africa from Asia.
35 — Pot shops are making a comeback, have you noticed? So, too, record album turntables and long-playing (LP) vinyl records. Life, like the economy and the seasons, is cyclical, not a non-stop linear progression. Currently, Baby Boomers are nostalgic for the 1960s, and their kids are curious about the decade’s zeitgeist.
1 — Buy agriculture commodity stocks.
2 — Our earth has a billion more people to feed.
3 — Be prepared for weather disruptions in the next 10-15 years worse than anything in the past 20 years.
4 — Long-term: look for a Great Depression between 2030-2040. You’ll likely be on the sidelines, but your kids…
5 — Short-term: Not another recession until 2013-14, and it won’t be nearly as bad as the last one.
6 — President Obama will be re-elected in 2012, due to good, positive economic conditions and weak GOP opposition.
7 — Japan’s industrial production is dying.
8 — Who’s afraid of China? The U.S. out-manufactures China on an everyday basis. Outsourced manufacturing is returning to the U.S. Strengthening the U.S. manufacturing base is a question of will, not ability.
9 — Pay no mind to Chinese economic data. No one does. It has no credibility.
10 — China faces a looming demographic crisis. China and the U.S. have roughly the same land mass. But China has four times the population of the U.S. China will not overtake the U.S. as the world’s number one economic power. It lacks mineral wealth. China will be a consistent number two. We should stop looking over our shoulder for China coming up from behind. It ain’t going to happen.
11 — Waiting on India: Conditions are ripe for India to become a stronger world economic power. Infrastructure is the number one problem facing the country. India has been poised to break out for 20 years.
12 — A lack of mobility exists in the U.S. workforce. There are 13 million unemployed, with three million job openings that can’t be filled. People cannot up and move to where the jobs are due in part to the lousy housing market. They can’t sell their homes.
13 — Mining is and will be one of the U.S. economy’s stronger sectors.
14 — U.S. manufacturing produces only moderate job increases. A lack of skilled workers exists. Also, there exists a preference to employ machines over people.
15 — Unemployment will remain high. In 2014, look for the unemployment rate to be at 7.4 percent. Barriers to lowering unemployment: lack of workforce mobility; lack of workforce skills; the U.S. government has incentivized people not to work. It pays people not to work.
16 — Federal budget cuts will not be draconian. Any cut is met with the question: What is this going to do to jobs? Cuts hurt jobs. Politicians need to stay in office. They will not inflict severe budget cuts.
17 — Both Democrat and GOP deficit reduction plans are based on the assumption that the U.S. economy will grow at a 5.0 percent clip from 2010-2019. Since World War 2, average Gross Domestic Policy (GDP) has been 3.3 percent. Current deficit reduction plans on both sides of the aisle ain’t gonna happen.
18 — Current U.S. federal government spending outlays: #1 Social Security; #2 Non-discretionary spending; #3 Defense; #4 Medicare; #5 Net interest; #6 All other entitlements; #7 Medicaid; #8 Obamacare subsidies; #9 Iraq and Afghanistan.
19 — Healthcare in the scheme of overall federal spending is not a big number.
20 — 80 percent of healthcare costs are incurred in the last two years of life.
21 — The definition of “fair” in U.S. healthcare spending is not equal opportunity but equal outcomes.
22 — It’s not about politics, about Dems or the GOP. The biggest factor influencing economic policy today is the times we live in.
23 — There is no credit crunch in 2011. Cash is sloshing all around. Main Street bankers (not Wall Street) want to loan money, but regulators sitting in their lobby restrain them. Need a loan? Be persistent. Ask 21 times for a loan. Shop around. The average is to ask for a loan only four times, and then give up.
24 — Corporate balance sheets look good. They are very clean.
25 — An economically realistic price for a barrel of oil is $97. The price could reach $140-$150 in 2013. Any price north of $130 will make consumer consumption difficult. At that price point consumers must make choices about how to consume oil.
26 — Natural gas is the best bet for U.S. energy independence. Natural gas = electricity generation. If one-third of the U.S. population drove hybrid autos or diesel-powered vehicles, we wouldn’t need Saudi oil. We wouldn’t need the Middle East. Energy independence is within our grasp. But independence comes at a premium price most of us cannot afford.
27 — Look outside of the U.S. for your stock choices. Foreign firms or global U.S. firms with more than 50 percent of their revenue coming from sales outside of the U.S. Bonds will be going down in value.
28 — It will be an inflationary world in the next 20 years. Winners will be those countries wealthy in natural resources. Canada and Brazil, for instance. Australia and New Zealand.
29 — The U.S. economy is currently running on six of eight cylinders. Residential and non-residential construction is still down and out. But the recovery is better than the last one in 2004. Businesses are investing. The restaurant business is coming back. Hotel, motels and lodging business is rebounding. Consumers are spending again.
30 — Invest in eye care and bladder care healthcare companies. Demographics favor these kinds of healthcare businesses.
31 — We possess three-year memories. After a three-year period we tend to forget experiences. The Great Recession ended in 2009. By mid-2012 it will be out of mind. It will no longer be a behavioral determinant.
32 — Invest in residential real estate. New housing starts are as dead as a doornail. Existing homes and apartments are where 130 million new Americans by 2050 will live.
33 — Population winners and losers at the state level: Biggest gains — Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, and Florida; Biggest losses — Michigan, New York, Ohio, Idaho, and New Jersey.
34 — The low-cost global labor pool will move to Africa from Asia.
35 — Pot shops are making a comeback, have you noticed? So, too, record album turntables and long-playing (LP) vinyl records. Life, like the economy and the seasons, is cyclical, not a non-stop linear progression. Currently, Baby Boomers are nostalgic for the 1960s, and their kids are curious about the decade’s zeitgeist.
Heaven or hell... Thanks Carol & Clay!
A Holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, 'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.'
The Lord led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table..
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew,
which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.
They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell. They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The holy man said, 'I don't understand.
'It is simple,' said the Lord. 'It requires but one skill...
You see, they have learned to feed each other.
The greedy think only of themselves.'
When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you.
Its estimated 93% won't forward this.
If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title '7%' .
I'm in the 7%
Remember that
I will always share my spoon with you.
Gun owners like this... Thanks good Denison friend!
An Arizona Department of Safety Officer pulled over pick-up truck owner
for a faulty taillight. When the officer approached the driver, the man
behind the wheel handed the officer his driver’s license, insurance
card and concealed carry permit.
The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said. "Mr.
Smith, I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?"
The driver replied, " Yes sir, I have a 357 handgun in a hip holster, a
.45 in the glove box and a .22 derringer in my boot."
The officer looked at the driver and asked, "Anything else?"
"Yes sir, I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and an AR-15 in the trunk."
The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range
and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the
driver's face and said "Mr. Smith, you're are carrying quite a few
Mr. Smith locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered, "Not a damn
Thanks Mr. Vice! For my friend, Ted Truitt- This is why the warning to enter my blog.
A good ole North Carolina boy won a bass boat in a raffle drawing. He brought it home and his wife looks at him and says,
"What you gonna do with that. There ain't no water deep enough to float a boat within 100 miles of here."
He says, "I won it and I'm a gonna keep it."
His brother came over to visit several days later. He sees the wife and asks where his brother is.
She says, "He's out there in his bass boat", pointing to the field behind the house.
The brother heads out behind the house and sees his brother sitting in a bass boat with a
fishing rod in his hand down in the middle of a big field. He yells out to him, "What are you doing?"
His brother replies, "I'm fishin. What does it look like I'm a doing."
His brother yells, "It's people like you that give people from ""North Carolina"" a bad name,
makin everybody think we is stupid. If I could swim, I'd come out there and whip your ass!"
Lisa Beamer- Teacher's story... Thanks Vices!
TAKE TIME
Lisa Beamer on Good Morning America
If you remember, she's the wife of Todd Beamer who said 'Let's Roll!' and helped take down the plane over Pennsylvania that was heading for Washington DC back on 9/11.
She said it's the little things that she misses most about Todd, such as hearing the garage door open as he came home, and her children running to meet him.
Lisa recalled this story:
"I had a very special teacher in high school many years ago whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a classroom of students. As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the classroom windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down there.
With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, Class is over, I would like to share with all of you, a thought that is unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important. Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves. None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment.
Perhaps this is the powers way of telling us that we must make the most out of every single day. Her eyes, beginning to water, she went on, So I would like you all to make me a promise. From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice.
It doesn't have to be something you see, it could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground. Please look for these things, and cherish them. For, although it may sound trite to some, these things are the "stuff" of life. The little things we are put here on earth to enjoy. The things we often take for granted.
The class was completely quiet. We all picked up our books and filed out of the room silently. That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than I had that whole semester. Every once in a while, I think of that teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.
Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today. Go barefoot. Or walk on the beach at sunset. Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double dip ice cream cone.
For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn't do.
If a lizard can, why can't we?... Thanks Carol &Clay Vice!
WHEN A LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE?
What a wonderful inspiration ..
Must share this!
A story worth sharing with children.
This is a true story that happened in Japan .
In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.
Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.
When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet.
He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.. !
What happened?
The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!!!!!!!!!!
In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling.
Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years! Without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed!
So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating.
Later, not knowing from where it came appears another lizard, with food in its mouth.
Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply.
For the lizard that was stuck by nail; another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...
Imagine? It has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.
Think, will u do that to your partner?
Think that will you do it to your Parents , Friends, Co-workers, brothers and Sisters?
Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.
As information and communication technology advances, our access to information becomes faster and faster.
But the distance between human beings . .. . is it getting closer as well?
Please never abandon your loved ones
Never Say U R Busy When They Really Need You...
You May Have The Entire World At Your Feet......
But You Might Be The Only World To Them....
A Moment of negligence might break the very heart which loves you thru all odds....
Before you say something just remember. It takes a moment to Break but an entire life to make...
To Live Use Heart and to Survive use Brains.
Then Life would be a paradise Unfurling only Love Joy and
Happiness....
KNOW THE SYMPTOMS
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D.
Age Associated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So I decide to put the bills back on the table & take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm.
I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye.
They need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote
someone had left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs..
But first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers.
Quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of
Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.....
Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!
Lea Duschinski fell but getting better... Thanks Jim Kegley!
To all,
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
I'm sorry to report that Lea Duschinski fell at her Forest Heights Portsmouth home Monday evening, while sweeping her sidewalk, and according to her niece, Mary Saltsman, "shattered her left elbow, and cracked her head". The good news is, they did all the proper tests, and found no serious damage to her head. They surgically repaired her elbow on Tuesday afternoon, and had to add "a plate and eight screws", Mary reported. Lea is a HUGH Cincinnati Reds fan, and she and I celebrate wins, and commiserate defeats, whenever we talk.
Tuesday evening, I tried to telephone Lea to talk about the Reds' 6-3 victory over the Phillies, to break a slide of six losses, and got no answer. It was after 10 p.m., so I was surprised when Lea didn't answer her phone. I tried again a few minutes later, and let it ring for 20 or 30 times, still no Lea. I then called Violet (Vie) Gantz, her regular Thursday eveniing dinner partner, and Vie didn't know why she was not answering. I then called Mary Saltsman, and she told me the bad news. It is bad news, but it is not as bad as it could have been.
Mary speculated that she will be in a long recovery with her arm, but said Lea is right handed, so she will be able to write, etc.
Lea was secretary to several principals at Portsmouth High School, even though she is a graduate of Central Catholic, Lea has the singular distinction of being a fixture at summer PHS class reunions, because of her popularity, and ready wit. Lea has been retired longer than most people work one job. She is a virtual history book of information regarding the forties, fifties, sixties and seventies, as relates to Portsmouth High School, and stays in touch with many of her friends.
She is madly in love with Joey Votto, the first baseman of the Reds. I know she is happy for Votto's double off the wall in Tuesday's victory.
Go Reds!
Go Lea!
Get well quickly!
Lea's address is: Lea Duschinski
