Team USA wrapped up their opening weekend of the Olympics this morning by beating France by a score of 98-71. It wasn’t pretty as the team had to over come early foul trouble and sloppy play in the first half, but a big second half sealed the deal for Team USA. The Team was lead by the outstanding play of Kevin Durant, who dropped 22 points, and LeBron James who dished out eight assists.
The French team, which features Tony Parker and five other NBA players, didn’t do themselves any favors in the game. The French went 1-11 from downtown and missed seven free throws.
This game was great for Cats fans, as Anthony Davis saw some action in the win. Davis was able to score three points and pull down two boards when he entered the game. Hopefully this will not be the last time the big guy gets to show the world what Kentucky basketball can do.
Up next for Team USA will be another preliminary game. They will tip off at 5:15pm against Tunisia on Tuesday. Don’t worry, I haven’t heard of them either.
