John Wall plays Santa for a family in need
John Wall knows what it’s like to lose a parent to cancer; his father
passed away from the disease when John was nine years old. So when he
got word of six children in the D.C. area who just lost their mother to cancer,
he did what he could to brighten the holiday. Wall took over the
Christmas shopping duties for Altra Gibbs, who is now raising her
daughter’s children while fighting her own battle against cancer.
“This is a miracle to me,” Altra Gibbs said of Wall’s surprise Secret Santa visit. ”I appreciate it so much.”
She cried as she hugged John after he showed up at her home with trash bags full of wrapped presents for the family. Wall said he wanted to help out as soon as he heard the Gibbs’ story.
“My dream is not just to play basketball,” he said. ”My dream is to help other people out and make their lives better.”

December 25th, 2012 at 1:33 am There’s a difference between the government giving away tax money for free and a person doing a good deed with his OWN money. Way to go John wall! It’s good to help out!
December 25th, 2012 at 6:57 am I believe John Wall demonstrates that he has benefitted from Coach Cal’s association. He too washed youngster’s feet while a star at Kentucky. I pray for all to help those in need, Not just to be a racist, but to salute a young millionaire’s effort to benefit youngsters of his race.
God, please continue to bless John Wall and bring his health back to help his team.
