Welcome
Welcome to my blog http://www.skegley.blogspot.com/ . CAVEAT LECTOR- Let the reader beware. This is a Christian Conservative blog. It is not meant to offend anyone. Please feel free to ignore this blog, but also feel free to browse and comment on my posts! You may also scroll down to respond to any post.
For Christian American readers of this blog:
I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.
The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!
A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:
"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."
Thanks Jack!
I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Portman Calls for Immediate Action to Protect Iraqi Christians
"We cannot sit idly by as Christians in Iraq suffer."
Washington, D.C. – In case you missed it, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) appeared on Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom
this morning to discuss the introduction of his bipartisan Senate
resolution condemning the violence and persecution of Iraqi Christians
and other religious minorities by the Islamic State in Iraq.
Portman also wrote an op-ed in The Daily Caller in which he explains that the resolution reaffirms our commitment to protecting religious freedom around the world and urges the establishment of safe havens for those in Iraq seeking refuge from religious persecution.
The resolution is supported by the Christian Coalition of America, the American Center for Law and Justice, and the Ohio Christian Alliance.
Excerpts of the op-ed are below and the full piece can be viewed here.

America Must Stand With Iraqi Christians

Today in Iraq, we are witnessing the systematic purging of Christians. In Mosul — Nineveh of Bible times — where Christians have lived for nearly two thousand years, the terrorist group the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, has declared war on non-Muslims.
The leaders of the Islamic State have issued an ultimatum to local Christians: convert to Islam, pay a fine that few can afford, or “die by the sword.” Many have fled and been robbed of all of their possessions before they can get out of town. Some that remain have found their homes stamped with a symbol denoting their religion and marking them for death, and untold numbers have already been killed. A decade ago, 1.5 million Christians made Iraq their home. Today, fewer than 400,000 remain.
Even before the founding of our country, religious liberty has been sacred to the American people. And when that freedom has been threatened around the world, we have led the fight against those who would deny it, lending spiritual, economic, and military support to oppressed peoples. Today we must act in Iraq.
…
We cannot sit idly by as Christians in Iraq suffer. Recently, President Obama declared on Religious Freedom Day that religious liberty “is not just an American right; it is a universal human right to be protected here at home and across the globe.” We must put action behind those words.
Today, I am introducing a bipartisan resolution in the United States Senate. It reaffirms our commitment to protecting religious freedom around the world. It calls upon the State Department to coordinate with the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqis, our allies in the region, and the thousands of refugees who have come to our country over the decades, to work together to secure safe havens for those in Iraq seeking refuge from religious persecution. It demands that the Iraqi government do more to protect religious minorities within their borders, and it urges the administration to ensure the timely processing of visas for Iraq’s minority groups fleeing religious persecution.
These steps will not end the violence in Iraq, but they will give Iraqi Christians a chance to escape with their lives. Some of our allies are already providing asylum to these persecuted Christians. The U.S. must do more.
…
By taking steps to end the persecution of Christians and other minorities in Iraq, we can begin to send a message to the world that we will not stand idly by as our basic, human freedoms are violated. While we must continue to pray for Iraqi Christians, the United States of America — a country founded by those fleeing persecution — must also take action to help them.

Three short statements - How our govt is headed ... Thx Dr. H!
These three, short statements
tell you a lot about the direction of our
current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few
lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions
of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.
And here's another one worth considering.
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run
out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps
running out of money? What's interesting is the first recipients "worked for"
their money, but the second didn't.
Think about it..... Last but not least
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our
military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are
not stopping the payments to illegal aliens. This is what the
illegals can receive monthly - $1500 per child, $500 for housing, food
stamps, free education including college and
they are not kept from voting.
Am I the only one missing something? If not, pass this along.

Quote of the Year ... Attago Hill! If you can't dazzl'em with brilliance, baffle'em with B.S. ... Thx Dr. H!
Quote of
the year
Keep this in mind if she runs for President.
Quote of the day, no, of the week, make that month. Yet it
probably is quote of the
year ! No. DECADE. Wait a
minute. It's the greatest quote ever !
“My accomplishments as Secretary of State? Well, I'm glad
you asked! My proudest accomplishment in which I take the most pride,
mostly because of the opposition it
faced early on, you know… the remnants of prior situations and mindsets that
were too narrowly focused in a manner whereby they may have overlooked the bigger picture and we didn’t
do that and I’m proud of that. Very proud. I would say that’s a major
accomplishment.”

the hell she just said ?

Secular progressives vs America and especially us "Old Geezers" ... Thx Paul C!
:
The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration. In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner , America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent. It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2014 we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."Footnote: This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county. You and I are Members, Don't Delete, Just Read and Pass on.
ISIS targetting Christians 'for extinction' ... Thx Newsmax!
Rep. Wolf: ISIS Targeting Christians 'for Extinction'
Republican Congressman Frank Wolf gave a passionate speech on the House floor on Tuesday accusing the militant jihadist group ISIS of genocide for "systematically targeting Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq for extinction."
"I believe that what is happening to the Christian community in Iraq is genocide,” said the Virginia legislator, who is leaving office in January after 34 years in Congress. “I also believe it is a 'crime against humanity.'"
ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has already seized control of vast areas of the two war-torn nations. It issued a decree that Christians had to convert to Islam, pay a tax, or be killed.
"Last Thursday [July 17], the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria gave the few remaining Christians in Mosul until Saturday to leave or be killed," Wolf said.
"On June 16, for the first time in 1,600 years, there was no Mass said in Mosul."
Before the American invasion of Iraq in 2003, about 130,000 Christians lived in Mosul, but only a handful remain there now, according to CNS News.
Wolf quoted from a letter sent to the president in June, signed by 55 members of Congress, urging Obama to "prioritize additional security support for especially vulnerable populations, notably Iraq's ancient Christian community."
The letter referred to a BBC article describing "summary execution, beheadings, and even crucifixions" by ISIS, which now calls itself simply the Islamic State.
Wolf told his House colleagues: "Absent immediate action, we will most certainly witness the annihilation of an ancient faith community from the lands they've inhabited for centuries.
"Where is the Obama administration?"
Iraq's ambassador to the United States is also urging the administration to intervene, calling for air strikes to "protect Iraqi borders against the further influx of terrorists from Syria."
Ambassador Lukman Faily pointed to the Muslim extremists targeting Christians, and called for strikes against terrorist camps and supply convoys.

Organzation to oppose terrorists killing Christians ... Is it anywhere?
Islamic Terrorists killing Christians all over this world ...
Our wimpy president and congress are currently doing nothing to protect our Christians serving all over this globe. Unlike o says, this is still a Christian nation and the terrorists should respect our strength and resolve, as a country.
What organization is rising to the occasion? I want to join that organization. Is it within the Tea Party?

Wisconsin ... Not for media worldwide ... Thx Pidge F!
This picture and the accompanying information says it
all. A great big "BOOOOOOOO" to the news media that never do their job
of informing the public. Please pass this on to as many
persons as you can.
Wisconsin.
Ain't he a bright
light!!!!!
When Obama stopped in at Master
Lock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last week, he was walking the plant and stopped to talk
with a plant employee and looked up at the banner hanging on the wall
and said to the worker and people around him, "It is great to be in a union
shop, especially one as old as this union is " - - - pointing to the
banner.He then said,
"A Union shop since 1848" - - - and then he went on to talk on what that
banner stood for and
how important it was to display it and show your union support. The worker
then said to Obama that it was the flag of the State
of Wisconsin - - which was founded in 1848, and that the shop was
Non-Union.
This was only reported by a local
radio station in Milwaukee (1130AM) and not by the major news networks.
They didn't want to
embarrass this "got no friggin' clue "President"Since they didn't do their job of
reporting on this presidential visit, the only way for the news to get
around is by us - on the Internet. The White House media said he
skipped Wisconsin & just went to Minn &
Chicago.
Absoluteluy fascinating! ... Thx Pidge F!

Yesterday Poem by Sam Kegley 7/24/14
Yesterday
Shall we work or shall we play
Much depends on yesterday
Should events just fade away
or keep returnming along our way
Give us back December 7, 41
Be as if we've just begun
Hitler would expand due to our isolation
What kind of fortress would then be our nation
For the early morning of 9-11
Skipping that event would keep us in Heaven
People would still read about and admire us
But admiration always slips away
Wake this sleeping giant though
Can we make the enemies regret their yesterdays
Will GI's fight and fall with wounds
Because they felt the hurts of yesterdays
Our surrogate fighters have volunteered
and served so well
How would needed draftees fare
In the face of future battles hell
We pray for God to bless us again although
We have slipped as a nation of Christians
It won't be Noah's boat to save some species
Nor David's bow to bring down creepies
But a return to prayer won't hurt one bit
Throughout this world who've seemed to quit
As we search out a better way
To keep from dreading yesterday

I asked my Doctor why do people need to urinate so much at night time.
Answer –
Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) is level with the kidneys,
it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier.
I knew that you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!
Drinking
water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on
the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack
I
can also add to this... My doctor told me that water
at bed time will also help prevent night time leg
cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking
hydration when they cramp and wake you
up.
A Cardiologist has stated that if each person after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life
could
be saved!

Putin makes more sense than any American politician ... Thx Dr. H!
Subject: Vladimir Putin on Muslims
Not sure I agree with Putin on Ukraine and few other things, but this is good.
Subject: Vladimir Putin on MuslimsNo wonder he was selected by Forbes as the most powerful person in the world.
This is one time our elected leaders should pay attention to the advice of Vladimir Putin.
I would suggest that not only our leaders but every citizen should pay attention to this advice. How scary is that?
It is a sad day when a Communist Leader makes more sense than our LEADERS here in the Americas, but here it is!
Error! Filename not specified.
Vladimir Putin's speech - SHORTEST SPEECH EVER.
On August 04, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:
"In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim's then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.
"Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.
"When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians."
The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation.
If you keep this to yourself, you are part of the problem!

High Notes 07-24-2014
I saw the most amazing demonstration on my computer recently…it is a
(skin-spray) gun with which researcher’s are spraying badly-burned skin, with
the victim’s own stem cells and the burns are taking mere days instead of weeks
to heal. The demonstration was with a
man who was accidentally burned when another man threw a cup of gasoline onto a
burning neighborhood bonfire. The man
suffered second degree burns over the top right portion of his body, including
the right side of his face neck and shoulder.
The video stated that the man was treated on a Friday, and the skin was
healed by the following Monday.
I get a regular website entitled “Big Greek Daddy” with funny and
interesting videos, and this information was part of the Monday, July 21,
selection.
Oh, I failed to report that Brian
Estepp, the glass-marble specialist, and Morphy Auction House of Pennsylvania
executive, was in the Rosemount area visiting his Mom and Dad, Bob and Carolyn
Estepp over the Father’s Day holiday back in June. The family drove down to see Jack Lewis, the
gunsmith/antique dealer, owner of the Shawnee Diner just east of Buena Vista, and they met with Mr. Lewis’ son-in-law,
Gary Taylor, to discuss and view some of Taylor’s
marble collection. Brian telephoned me
and told how he enjoyed meeting the family.
He was already acquainted with Jack’s oldest son, also named Jack Lewis,
who is the firearms specialist with Cowan Auctions, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Les Cowan, the owner of the Cincinnati firm, appears often on the
Antiques Roadshow which airs on PBS tv.
The other Cincinnati firm which I’ve written about
recently, is Wiebold Studios, an art and antiques restoration company in the Queen City. I wrote about Richard (Dick) Shy who retired
from the U. S. Marines and eventually utilized his artistic talent and now
works part-time restoring artwork. He is
a fellow 1957 graduate of Portsmouth
High School. Wiebold has a message appearing in
conjunction with their support of the Antiques Roadshow, and I always think of
Dick Shy when the hand appears to wipe dirt and grime from the picture.
Although I moved away from my
early interest in antiques and collectibles when I began my long newspaper
career, I maintain an abiding interest in the business. At one time I had a small antique shop
located on the east end of Lucasville, in property owned by Charles Scaff.
I originally became interested in
antiques, as a 14-year old and became acquainted with James and Florine
McConnell, owners of Hilltop Antiques on Kinney’s Lane. They were the parents of Linda McConnell, a
new summertime friend I met while selling flavored crushed-ice snowballs from
the Park Shoppe Snowball stand on 17th
Street.
Linda and Peggy Fairchild, another Lincoln Grade Schooler, would walk
home from Dreamland Pool, and stop at my stand.
I remember that I trumped up some excuse to close the stand early one
evening, and the girls waited around and Dave Otworth and I walked them the
rest of their way home through Greenlawn
Cemetery. That was the beginning of a wonderful
friendship with the girls and the McConnell family. Linda, now last name Noel, is the widow of
longtime Portsmouth
fireman, Jack Noel, and Linda lives on Forest Avenue, in the duplex next door to
my lady-friend, Nora Netzer.
This coming weekend, July 25, 26
and 27, 2014, there is to be a Native American Artifacts show in Manchester, Ohio. Val Minch, now of Hickory, North Carolina,
is a long-time friend and fellow relic collector, and he will be visiting for a
few days so we can attend the show.
