Many well known Portsmouth Area people have been residents of Hillview. One was the well-respected Joe Kegley, who I am sure was a distant relative. Joe died there several years ago in Hillview at 100 years of age.
Jeanie and I have some close friends we visited with outside of the Hillview cafeteria Saturday morning before the 3 PM service for Sonny.
Hill view's bulletin board had this meeting notice for the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway which will bypass Portsmouth, going from Lucasville, Rt. 23 eastward through Minford and just east of Sciotoville on Rt 52. Interestingly we lived in Eden Park 48 1/2 years ago when this road was imminently planned to come very near to our house there.
My brother, Paul, who lives on the west side of P'Town, said he could not figure that Lucasville, Portsmouth and Portsmouth East could let the highway happen, but they recently began work on the four lane divided highway of limited access begin. They must have fought the good fight, because the imminent highway was planned back in the spring of 1967.
