For Christian American readers of this blog:

I wish to incite all Christians to rise up and take back the United States of America with all of God's manifold blessings. We want the free allowance of the Bible and prayers allowed again in schools, halls of justice, and all governing bodies. We don't seek a theocracy until Jesus returns to earth because all men are weak and power corrupts the very best of them.
We want to be a kinder and gentler people without slavery or condescension to any.

The world seems to be in a time of discontent among the populace. Christians should not fear. God is Love, shown best through Jesus Christ. God is still in control. All Glory to our Creator and to our God!

A favorite quote from my good friend, Jack Plymale, which I appreciate:

"Wars are planned by old men,in council rooms apart. They plan for greater armament, they map the battle chart, but: where sightless eyes stare out, beyond life's vanished joys, I've noticed, somehow, all the dead and mamed are hardly more than boys(Grantland Rice per our mutual friend, Sarah Rapp)."

Thanks Jack!

I must admit that I do not check authenticity of my posts. If anyone can tell me of a non-biased arbitrator, I will attempt to do so more regularly. I know of no such arbitrator for the internet.

Meeting to help keep flood insurance costs in check [Portsmouth Daily Times, Ohio]

February 18, 2012
By Ryan Scott Ottney, Portsmouth Daily Times, Ohio
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services
Feb. 18--NEW BOSTON -- The Village of New Boston is hosting a second-chance meeting this month to provide residents from all ofScioto County with information about locking-in lower flood insurance rates offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Village Administrator Steve Hamilton said FEMA draws new flood maps every 10 years, and when the newest maps were released in April 2011 is showed that some areas of the village are now at a higher risk of flooding. He said as much as 60 percent of New Boston is in some type of flood plain. Before those maps were released, Hamilton hosted two public meetings in New Boston to inform citizens how they could purchase FEMA flood insurance then for lower rates that would not increase for two years. He said very few people showed up to those meetings.
Now the deadline has passed, and some people are already seeing their rates jump as high as 60 percent.
"I've got two people that live on one street right now, and they're both in the same flood zone. They live right beside each other, and one is paying $700 more than their neighbor for flood insurance for a year," Hamilton said.
If more had come to the meetings last year, Hamilton said, they could have been grandfathered into lower rates.
Furthermore, Hamilton warned, if FEMA de-accredits either the village of New Boston or the city of Portsmouth floodwall systems, insurance rates will go up even more. The wall is undergoing studies and repairs, and both the city and the village expect to meet the requirements for accrediting before the final deadline.
Hamilton said FEMA offers a second chance to purchase low-rate flood insurance for two years only through its Preferred Risk Policy Eligibility Extension program. Free information about the program will be available at a public meeting at the New Boston Community Center at 6 p.m.Feb. 29.
"This is to keep your rates low, so you can be prepared for when the rates do go up," he said. "This two-year extension will provide property owners additional time to save and prepare for paying for a full-risk premium in two years."
Information will be distributed to homeowners from all over Scioto County to take back to their insurance provider to enroll in this program. Local insurance agents are also strongly encouraged to attend for information.

Low Interest Rates Ahead?
"They (the agents) will get a 13 percent commission by selling this," Hamilton said.
He said he is worried about the residents of New Boston, and all ofScioto County, who are already on a fixed income and cannot afford higher insurance premiums. He warned that if a property owner has a mortgage, the bank can require them to purchase this insurance -- and if the property owner doesn't, the bank can purchase it for them using money from their escrow account and include that cost on the property owner's mortgage payment. Higher mortgage payments, he fears, could mean more people being unable to stay in their homes.
"I just want to be a stepping stone for people, to show them thatFEMA is willing to help and give people a second chance, but they've got to be here. They've got to participate," Hamilton urged.
The meeting is 6 p.m.Feb. 29, at the New Boston Community Center on Rhodes Avenue.

  1. I like it, Dawood!
I think the word is good but the noun is discrediting all who deserve it.There is so much change in America.
This morning’s news says that so many women are having children out of wedlock and many more are raising kids by themselves.
Progressives have changed the political atmosphere and our government has become so large and continues to seek more and more power over our lives.
Individuals cannot have anarchy but they must have freedom.
    Take care, good friend.

98 year old's bd surprise: Eviction Notice from her son

98-Year-Old's Birthday Surprise: Eviction Notice From Her Son

On her 98th birthday, Mary Kantorowski got a big surprise from her eldest son Peter. Except it wasn't a present -- it was an eviction notice.

According to 71-year-old Peter Kantorowski, who now owns Mary's home, his mother would be better off living in a nursing home. He explained to the Connecticut Post that he is worried about her safety and security, and is simply looking out for his mother's best interests.

"I don't like the way she's living over there," he said to WTNH-TV. "I'm not throwing her out on the street. At her age, at 98, I'm sure that she should be with people of her peers."

Mary has been living in the small, yellow Cape Cod-style house in Bridgeport since 1953. In 1996, she and her husband John, now deceased, transferred the house to a trust administered by Peter Kantorowski -- on the condition that Mary would live there until her death. Upon her death, the home would go to Peter and his younger brother, Jack.

But in 2005, Peter quitclaimed the house from that trust to another controlled by him and his wife, giving him full ownership of the house.

Just six years later, in December 2011, he served his mother with eviction papers. He will take his mother to court on March 2.

The turn of events has Mary's youngest son, Jack (pictured left) reeling, especially as he claims that he's the one checking on his mother every day, as do a multitude of neighbors, friends, and even a nurse from Bridgeport Hospital. Peter, on the other hand, has admitted he has not seen his mother in eight months.

"I just don't understand him at all," Jack told WTNH-TV. "There are no other words to call him, he's just a scumbag."

His sentiments are echoed by Mary's lawyer, Richard Bortolot Jr., who said that Peter was clearly booting his mother out so that he could sell the home.

Sadly, Mary's not the only senior who's suffered eviction at the hands of her son. In September 2011, 101-year-old Texana Hollis was evicted from the Detroit home she'd been living in for almost six decades after her 65-year-old son Warren failed to pay the mortgage. Consequently, Hollis was left owing $80,000 on the home, and she and Warren were forced to move into a rental home across the street.

Though Hollis was later promised by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that she'd be able to move into her foreclosed home, HUD recently deemed the home "unsafe" for the centenarian. She currently remains displaced, and relies on the charity and good will of locals for a roof over her head.

Hopefully, Mary Kantorowski won't share the same fate.

"I didn't think [Peter] would do it," Mary told the Connecticut newspaper. "My husband worked hard, difficult jobs to buy this house. He built the garage and did a lot of work on the house and he told me never to leave it."

The Front Porch ... thanks Pat!

Subject: The Front Porch

On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"
And God said that it was good.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"
And God, again said that it was good.
On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"
And God agreed it was good. On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."
But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."
So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service. If you are looking for me I will be on the front porch.
